A lot of typical Western jump to ideological conclusions here which is not surprising. The song was written on a bet, is lightly satirical, and is grounded in that good old Russian tradition (see Anna Karenina) of the put upon by men Russian woman. At least PBS's Sound Tracks, while still ideological and filled with that ain't we in the West so superior attitude, got it somewhat right which is more than you can say for many of the posts here.
