  • I DON'T THINK THIS GUY SHOULD BE INCHARGE HE'LL just BRING BACK THE CRAPPY GRAPHICS OF NINTENDO

  • ithink gameboy r CRAP i love the 3DS

  • i Own a 3ds with Zelda ocarna of time super mario 3d land and legostarwars 3

  • not to be an ass or anything, but that part where you said "no more DS's" cuz they had enough of them, there still isn't enough of them as much as the gameboys did :P i like the gameboy still, i grew up on it, but i believe in moving on. to me, portable games are portable, it doesn't matter what system. heck, i remember playing those crappy handheld games that came in mickey d's happy meals.lol. my idea is to take advantage of what portable gaming ideas you can get, and use them to their fullest

  • Hi. I think That the NEW GameBoy should really Have one big screen, two styolusses,

    a better touch screen, one circle pad, a rotating screen, A B X Y, 1 2 3 4 5, start and select

  • @ECTV1289

The 3DS Will Not Have Gameboy Advance Games Right Now.

P.S. ECTV1289 And 3DSuperMario19 Are The Same People So I Technacly Responded To Myself!

    By Me!

  • I do not think that flipping the screen is technically possible but I have to agree I would prefer only 1 screen. I have never liked the concept of 2 screens.

  • i think you'll be happy to know the 3ds has gameboy and gameboy color games for purchase on the nintendo e-shop when it comes out the 27th. nintendo must have listened to you! lol

  • @MXvsATV3DS It's great for those who never played the classics, but I already own most of them and I'm not going to repurchase them on the 3DS. Even if "3DSware" had a Gameboy game I don't have I'd still rather hunt down the original. When I buy something I like to be able to hold it in my hands. Paying for digital copies does feel like I really own it.

  • @MXvsATV3DS i Own a 3ds with Zelda ocarna of time super mario 3d land and legostarwars 3

  • i think the 3DS is an OK step forward.

but da'n, the name "nintendo" stands for revolution not for unneccessary gimmicks!

my favourite gameboy ever isthe gameboy light.

i dont use the liht that often, but it runs of 2 double As which is very convenient and the battery covers shape makes it very comfortable to hold. ANd it has all awesome games and even optional backlit.

  • theres one problem with full backwards compatibility, i heard the audio quality has to be compromised , but the 3ds ware games should solve this

  • it's funny seeing this now... how accurate it turned out to be with 2 additional DS models that have come AFTER the ones mentioned in this video... haha

  • @MrDebauch Sad, but true. At least the 3DS looks like a leap forward.

  • @kainkusanagi well that is true, but maybe we should wait for the 3dTS (tri-screen) hahaha...

  • they will probably make the best games downloadable on the 3DS

  • "no cheap gimmicks" are you kidding me? you just gave us a history of the gameboy and it seems nintendo has ALWAYS been about cheap gimmicks, they did 3 gameboy remakes, this is nothing new for them to be gimmicking people, take off your nostalgia goggles.

  • @AWSH17 I wouldn't categorize most redesigns as a gimmicks. Touch Screen, microphone, 3D, etc are gimmicks. Certainly the core of the Gameboy hardware had less gimmicky features than the DSi XL and the upcoming 3DS.

  • @picapauengracado When I was in grade school a kid in my class saw me playing Gameboy and he told me, "GameGirl has color". I said "GameGirl?", he said, "Yeah, GameGirl is in color". I said there was no such thing and he got mad at me. It turned out he miss heard Game Gear as Game Girl. I wonder if Gameboy would have been as popular if it was called GameGirl. Girls play Gameboy, but boys might turn up their noses at a handheld with "girl" in it's name.

  • @kainkusanagi They're creating a virtual consle on 3DS that includes original Game Boy games!

  • @albaniandude6 It's cool that a new generation will have access to the classics, but I don't like rebuying a digital copy of a game I own the cartridge of. It's too bad there's no way to prove you have the original so you can download it off the VC for free.

  • @kainkusanagi i no i have all the pokemon games and ive spent a lot of time and money finding thema nd buying them

  • @kainkusanagi Oh there will be ways, dont you worry ;)

  • where do u work dude? since you were asking nintendo for a position.

  • @nintenandryan Why are you hitting your Gameboy against the wall? :)

  • Omg! I LOVED the handy boy! I also had the bottom attaching 2 speaker amp. With all that stuff connected I affectionately named my Gameboy "devastator"

  • @cubx1979 See if you can get the GameBoy Game Genie on there as well for a Super "Devastator".

  • I thought a little bit aboput something..first there was a DS ..after that DSi...now it's 3DS...isn't a little bit strange..and WTF 2 screens..I mean it's okay in Castlevania cuz you can see the map..but games that utilises both screens at the same time as one screen are annoying//.like Contra 4..still I hope the 3DS will be awesome

  • @sonicblast19 Since the 3DS has one 3D screen and one 2D Touch, I think most games will use the 3D screen to display the game and the Touch screen for touch controls and maps/items etc.

  • @kainkusanagi I am a little concern about graphics ...I mean even a PC GPU can't process 3D effects easily(tested on Avatar-not that I have a way to see 3D just for curiosity) so a little GPU I doubt it can offer both 3D and cool graphics..hope they won't make Saints Row overhead....that type of games just suck...

  • well listen to yourself do we really need a new ds do we need a new gameboy they made ten they made 3 ds's

  • @walterknows We do need advances in technology, but we don't need 4 DS models, (DS, DSlite, DSi, DSiXL), with only slight differences and features. The Gameboy Color was a step up, but the Gameboy Pocket wasn't. The 3DS is a step up, but the DSi isn't. We don't always need a new Gameboy or DS, but we do need Nintendo to move forward and release substantially new handheld technology.

  • i love n64 my favorite game system 3d and when they didn't run out of ideas those were the good games i remember that was the first game system i ever played thumbs up i you like :D

  • i love n64 my favorite game system 3d and when they didn't run out of ideas those were the good games i remember that was the first game system i ever played

  • hey nice idea how did you make the 3d project

  • @walterknows Thanks. I used Bryce 5 to do the little animated 3D stuff.

  • what do you think of the 3ds?

  • @superlegoman64 It looks cool. I'll have to try it out.

  • I know you don't like cheap gimmicks on a portable but you know the Game Boy was a cheap gimmick at the time it was first released too. Also wouldn't it be a mistake if Nintendo brought back the Game Boy after the DS lite with its one screen, regular control and better graphics. It'll be just like the PSP and you know most gamers and game developers would probably ignore it because of that.

  • @blueswan1984 The only "gimmick" the original Gameboy had was that it was portable gaming. I'd say it was less of a gimmick and more of a revolution. As for a PSPlike Gameboy successor, it would have something the PSP doesn't have. Nintendo and and huge third party support. The PSP isn't less successful than the DS because it has only a single screen. It's less successful because people want to play DS games more. It's always about the games.

  • Maybe place the buttons on the sides to where turning it on its side makes it just as good as horizontal like a wonderswan. This would help make the flimsy screen idea a non issue and give them an excuse for more buttons and hey more buttons is the kinda thing you can hype ... works for sony :D

Also vertical Shmups ;) some of my favorites in gaming would be great on such a setup... maybe I should draw a mockup ... I love those on youtube that inspire me for doing well at least that.

    Aberran

  • The basic concept was good, but it's easy to see why you didn't get into product design!

  • I dunno, man. With that kinda design, I'm pretty sure the screen would be all too easy to destroy. It's better off with the clamshell design.

Also, I think you might've forgotten that Nintendo's pretty much done the same thing with the Game Boy by releasing all sorts of variations before going on to the next one. :P

  • @TsukentoX People don't seem to have too many problems with their iPhone screens and we didn't need all those minor variations of Gameboys just like we don't need all of the DS ones.

  • @kainkusanagi Well, I meant in regards to the twisting it around outside of the plastic. I know that's a mock-up and all, but that kinda design would lead to some clumsy kids snapping their screens off.

And while I agree that the DS doesn't need as many variations as the GB had, I was just pointing out that it's not exactly a new concept for Nintendo.

  • thats a cool idea you have there

what do you think of the 3ds bytheway?

  • @Comrade2face The only way I'll bring 3D into my home is the way Nintendo is doing it on the 3DS. Sony can talk all day about it, but I'm not buying a super expensive TV with several expensive glasses just to watch Avatar or How to Train your Dragon. 3D is cool, but I can live without it. Small scale and without glasses like the 3DS appeals to me much more.

  • @kainkusanagi yeah man i totally agree with you, nintendo always seems to be one step ahead of every one else.

  • You need to work for Nintendo.

  • @zeppelin1996 Thanks, but I think Nintendo is going to make a bundle off the 3DS so they will never be looking back at the Gameboy.

  • @kainkusanagi That really makes me sad.

  • i do like the idea of the dsi and the 3ds but the backwards compadibility just made me mad!!! I like your idea to except the screen is vulnarable.

  • @ownd9000LOL Do you mean the lack of backwards compatibility made you made?

  • @kainkusanagi well yeah

  • @kainkusanagi well yeah. my cousin is giving me a classic gameboy!

  • And of course they release a DSi XL

  • Just face it!, the Gameboy line died just like the Famicom line died in Japan and did not use that brand again. Just have to hope the 3DS uses a design like that and have a powerful chipset so it can run virtual console emalators to play 4 generations of hand held games (Gameboy, Gameboy Advsnce, Nintendo DS) on top of the next gen 3DS games.

  • @SPS148669 Virtual console is great if you don't own the games, but I don't think people should have to re-buy games they already own. I'll just have to keep my Gameboy Advance SP around.

  • DS Sleep mode for the Gameboy DS. Press L+R+Power Button.

Some DS Games use a different view style (Rhythem Heaven, Brain Age, Etc.) Still allow the game boy DS to have it's screen on "Horizontal mode" when playing those games. Oh, and semi-restricted homebrew development with open source code. (So you can make GB, GBC, GBA Emulaors but block out piracy code that attempts something to load a commercial ROM in DS&GBDS Mode. That anti-piracy would be hardware baised and would need to be "flashed"

  • Okay, here's my question. Nintendo has a brand new handheld system coming out that is currently code-named, the 3DS. It is said to be compatible with the entire library of DS games and have it's own 3D graphics games. Your current thoughts on it with the information given out so far?

  • @LBTUploader I'm really excited to see the 3DS. Sure I'd still like to see full backwards compatibility and a return to won screen, but the idea of playing 3D games without glasses sounds cool.

  • You know, I think you've gotten your wish Kain. I know it's a little old, but the Game Boy Micro Is actually a downgraded version of your idea here. Just compare a GB-M and your "Game Boy DS" and you'll know what I'm trying to say.

  • @SethTheArcticFox92 The Micro is a great little system, but sadly it can only play GBA games not original Gameboy games.

  • hmmm, how about a disc drive big enough for backwards compatability with the gamecube because handhelds arent far from standards as the 6th generation consoles. They have always been a step (or few) behind so it shouldn't be too hard to pull off.

  • They should at least make it possible somehow to play GB/C/A games... like putting every Mario GB/GBC/GBA game onto one DS cart.

  • Now that would be sweet. A copyright nightmare, but awesome.

  • You´re right! Im using emulators for the old ones!

  • idea: Virtual Handheld

  • I agree that there were tons of awesome games for the game boy, but I don't see kids today having any interest in returning to them. I think we have to admit that the past is the past.

After all, I've had a NES in my house for as far back as I can remember (literally) but I just missed the Atari system by a few year and never went back (unless you count a few of the arcade games)

So, I like your idea, but I don't see them going along with it if it costs them a dime

  • Apparently they will make a next generation DS. Which should be cool.

  • I saw a thing for the new bigger dsi. For those of us over the age of 6, it's gonna be a good thing

  • DS originally stood for Developer's System. Everyone started referring to it as Dual Screen so it stuck.

As for mine idea, it has Dual Screen modes. Vertical split into to dual screens for DS games and Horizontal for new Gameboy games.

Although the name I choose was really just to illustrate dual compatibility with everything Gameboy and everything DS.

  • they could put gameboy games on the dsiware, cause lets be honest gameboy games are getting harder to find.

  • Of course, keep the classics alive for new generations.

But I don't want to be forced to re-buy games I still have and still work.

  • well if you already have them and they still work , why dont you just play them on a GBA?

  • The GBC plays GB games. The GBA plays GBC and GB games.

The DS plays GBA, but that's it.

Why did it stop? Shouldn't the DS play not only GBA games, but GB and GBC games too?

Then the DSi dropped all backwards compatibility.

The only reason for dropping support for older games is so they can start selling them on DSiware.

Great business strategy and great for people who don't have the old games. But I would like to be able to play my old games on my new systems.

It's not a big deal though.

  • including GB it would just increase the size and price. for people like us it would be cool but for most of the people it would be pointless

  • Classic gaming is NEVER pointless. :)

Yeah it's true that most new owners of today's machines don't care about the older stuff, but my design for the next Nintendo handheld wasn't for them. It was for me.

  • I hated how small the ds carts were they were cool at first then i would take them on trips and they would get lost if i didnt keep them in my holder i would find them but it was a hassle. But i didnt really like the touch screen i would rathe use the buttons sometimes,

  • lol and now theres the DSi ll it's like the beginning of the gameboy all over again

  • i want internal memory that emulates the gamboy color and advance batteries as long as your gameboy is on sleep mode that way you dont have to spend time and money replacing your old batteries. and there needs to be a sleep mode like laptops have so you use like 2 percent battery in a day when your not playing it.

  • ha they did it again they released the dsi ll it just has a bigger screen and is glossy :P

  • Yep, I'm still using my DS Lite.

  • they should interpret an internal memory save for gameboy an d gameboy advance games that emulates a battery but just saves it and makes the cartridge think its a bettery. that way i can save my pokemon cartridge again!!!

  • I'll be making a video eventually about how to replace the battery in game cartridges.

  • brilliant i so want nintendo to make THIS

  • I hope they're listening to you too.

  • needs sd cards

  • and by that I mean all the gameboy line

and i Think they should put the link function back in and also a virtual handheld where you can download gameboy games

  • I Agree with you on that the the Nintendo ds should be compatible with gameboy.

  • omg ... this guy looks like my Math Teacher!

  • Maybe I am your math teacher.

  • lolz I showed him this video he was like omg ... lol ....

P.S... ur videos rock! Keep it up bro!

  • are you a math teacher?

  • I can barely do my taxes. ;)

  • lol

  • There's a big dose of irony now they've announced the DSi XL now :D

  • Kain..what did you think about that DSiLL thingy Nintendo just announced? <=)

  • Nintendo does this kind of thing all the time. They re-release the same handheld over and over with minor improvements.

I won't be buying it new becuase I'm happy with my DS Lite. I'll probably add it to my collection in a few years when I can get it for super cheap.

  • Yep. I'm just fine with the DS Lite as well and instead of buying this DSiLL I'll just wait for that rumored NVidia Tegra powered system.

  • gameboy touch :)

  • so you want to make a DS with one screen? Call it the SS... dont think people would buy it :P

  • i wish the ds light and original (not dsi) should have put an anolog stick in the gba slot like an n64. yes i think the next handheld would have just one big screen like a psp

  • Ill say that my gameboy color (my first system) is freaking awesome. Its like indestructable. which would be a good addaption to your idea. shock resistant. i actually havnt bought a DS, and i passed up a new psp for 50 bucks. personally, i just miss the gameboy. the psp is too fragile (my bro got one and broke it in a week), and im not too crazy about the touch screen and game library of the ds. if im gonna play mario in 3d ill stick with supermario64 (with the 64's joystick).

  • "Do they think we're suckers?"

Well look at all the models of GameBoy

    Original - Pocket - Color - Advance - Micro

Every single one of these systems sold well enough, but most were incremental steps - with the exception of the color to the advance.

The Nintendo DS has had 3 versions already:

Nintendo DS - DS Lite - DSi

If they follow suit with number of models, there will be 2 more incarnations of the DS.

Can't forget, there were also the Super GameBoy and the GameBoy Player.

  • That's the greatest idea ever!

  • g1 deusprogrammer here: I couldn't agree more with you. Nintendo is certainly relying too much on gimmicks as of late. You are my favorite nostalgia source on You Tube. Do something on the Neo Geo and I will love ya forever =D.

  • Thanks. How about the Neo Geo Pocket Color? I love that thing, but right now I don't have a Neo Geo, but I've been looking into a Neo Geo CD even though the load times are terrible. It's hard to justify the cost of a Neo Geo and even more for it's games. Might as well by a Neo Geo Arcade, the games carts are cheaper anyway :)

  • actruly that sounds very nice but I whould want a cover for the screen of somekind and not that scruby plastic they used for the psp. I whould use that desighn and make it more like a side kick but at the botom leaft side there will be of thin plastic to cover the screen and fold it over to the other side and lock on and it be smooth so it can slide in your pocket and then slide back into the pocket it came out of. It whould have a rod locking meconisim, so it won't get loss and stay with you.

  • Really nice design (:

  • Your design looks great. love the concept of the rotatable touch screen for backwards compatability with older games. The design, although does look just like a PSP design. Not bad but why not just go with a psp to begin with. It can already play all nintendo games from the DS and back (provided ofcourse that you own said games for legal reasons).

  • Not legally and even if you did play DS games it doesn't have a touch screen. Then there the possibility that Sony would update the firmware through a game and remove the ability to hack it.

  • Legally, you can run an emulation of a game as long as you own a copy of that game. And hacking the PSP to run emulators hasn't been too much of a problem for the community that create these programs for the PSP, they currently have these emulator programs running on all versions of the psp. Sony has been trying to stop this through their updates with their firmware but have thus far not been able to stop them. Also, I wasn't refering to DS games, just everything before the DS games.

  • Edit: sorry, i see that I did refer to DS games accidentally. I meant everything before the DS.

  • As far as I know you're right, it's legal if you own the game, but if I own a cartridge I'd rather play it on the system it's meant for. As for the firmware, it's very possible Sony will figure out a way to stop hacking

  • I own a PSP and a DS.I have a big suggestion.Fuse your Gameboy design with a cell phone.I know,it's like N-gage(got one)and It would be really neat to have games, WiFi, Multimedia and phone in one pocket.when you carry a handheld and a phone in your pockets it takes up a lot of room.Oh yeah,as for the media of your Gameboy, the best solution is the SDHC.they are the cheapest ones on the market, plus, games are purchased and downloaded directly on to the SD.cheers from Serbia :D

  • kain wats the handy boy attachment and wat does it do

  • What doesn't it do? ;)

It adds stereo speakers, joystick and larger buttons, screen magnification, light, and acts as a carry case with should strap. Plus runs off the Gameboy's power so you don't need another battery pack.

I'll probably do a video on it eventually, along with other accessories worth mentioning.

  • thanx i say DO THE VIDEO ON IT :D

  • i agree. Nintendo should hire you to design their next handheld.

  • @mdkrow I hope you're joking

  • it would be nice if nintendo made a nintendo ds that could play all game boy games like original gameboy and gameboy color.

  • Comment removed

  • They also need to make the touchscreen optimized for the touch of fingers. I find the DS touchscreen a little bit slugglish and non-responsive. There are a lot of timesi dont grab the stylus to clicking things. They must learn of that!

  • damn that was such a great desighn and idea i wish some kid that was the son of a nintendo pperson was seeing this and told his father but yea i hope they still some ideas from psp

  • great design. they should make a new gameboy.

  • How ironic, your idea of a perfect future gameboy, is , at least in some parts, a Psp with Custom Firmware :)

  • Well, the PSP is a great piece of technology. I think the disc drive was a mistake and they tried to market it as a media player rather than a game machine. If the PSP had a touch screen, cartridge media, and if developers designed "portable" games for it, it would be perfect. I hope Nintendo steals a few of the PSPs ideas.

  • As much as I love the Nintendo DS, I still say the Game Boy line is my favorite brand of portables. I had being enjoying them for almost my entire youth from Tetris and Super Mario Land to Zelda DX and Dragon Warrior III to Golden Sun and even Pokemon Emerald.

  • wow. It's So COOL!!!

  • I think we might have to wait a while before the next handheld, so maybe nintendo should release an accessory for the DS (all three brands) that connects to the DS cartridge slot. It would have cartridge slots for DS games, GBA games, GBC games, and original GB games. (The same kind of slot the GBA had) I also think the accesory should be lightweight, and not too big or bulky. I also love your design idea for the next handheld, and you should work for Nintendo! I'd definitely buy the Gameboy DS!

  • Man, if nintendo were to hire you as the hardware designer for a new gameboy system, I'd honestly think that you will do a good job when it comes to durability, backwards compatibility, attraction, price, battery life and design.

You really have a good idea, who knows maybe nintendo is working on one right now.

  • are you half japenese ?

  • No, I'm a mix of several European nations.

  • I agree with most of what you said, and out of all your 2-bit videos I'd have to say the three on GameBoy are the most professional, so kudos for all of that.

I do disagree with the idea that a future Nintendo portable should be backwards compatible. Yes, it's a cool feature, but not practical for a handheld. The whole idea of making a portable is to make it as small and light as possible, so it makes sense they removed the hardware that allowed playing older games.

    (continues)

  • (continuation)

Now, what I think would be a commercial AND practical idea for Nintendo is if they re-release their old library of GB/GBC/GBA games in packages - for instance "Super Mario Land Collection" where all SML games would be included, or "Pokémon Collection" with all Pokémon games from Red to Fire Red in the same game card.

  • I don't like rebuying games I have in my collection. It was bad enough I had to rebuy movies on DVD and toss VHS in the trash. Original Gameboy games still work just as good as when they were new so if I'm going to dream up an ultimate Nintendo Handheld I want to play all the games I want to play.

  • it looks like the screen would be very easy to break if it was in horizontal mode.

  • Your probably right. This is really kind of like a concept, not even a prototype.

  • gameboy play it loud= loudest of the older gameboys meaning stands out more

    gameboy color= color screen

    gameboy advanced= more advanced games

gameboy DS= no that won't work

gameboy touch= touch screen makes sence right

  • This has dual modes for the screen one of which acts like a dual screen. Plus it's backwards compatible with the DS and Gameboy.

  • ...nerd lol jk.

  • It would be nice to play original Game Boy games on a modern high-contrast backlit display (or even an OLED!)

  • Good idea but DS meens Duel Screen

  • It originally stood for Developer System, but it's true that it has come to mean Duel Screen. This design takes both Gameboy and DS into account.

  • Nintendo Head of Software Reaseach & Development: Kain kusanagi

ftw it isn't egotistical when you have great ideas my man keep up the great work =D

  • I think the only reason nintendo is making no gba or other compatibility is because they want to make money. i think they should make a game boy ds.

  • ive got 2 words 4 u: pure genious!

  • There are a few problems with your disign.

    - How would microphone DS games work?

    - How would the part in Zelda Phantom Hour Glass where you close the screen work?

  • Well even though I didn't mention it, add a microphone near the screen wouldn't be too difficult.

The Zelda PH thing would probably just be done by putting the system to sleep, or by rotating the screen. Not all games are going to work 100% perfectly on a redesigned system, but I feel that it's a reasonable price to play to get a single widescreen instead of two smaller screens with a hinge in the middle.

I love the DS, but I do want less gimmick more game, like the GBA.

  • I think you would do a great job working for nintendo, and make it better than it is right now for sure !, keep up the mega awesome videos

  • NO SHIT THEY SHOULD HIRE YOU i mean you are allready repairing half there systems anyways dude your a geniuse when it comes to games and gaming and think you for all your help you the man kain

  • what program do you use to make those models

  • I used Bryce 5 for this because I know it like the back of mind hand and know a few tricks in it too. There are much better 3D programs that can do much more realistic rendering. Like I said I did this really fast and Bryce isn't good for much else.

  • i think nintendo changed the name because they wanted girls to get a ds .

  • I don't mind if we got another DS after the DSi, but i want to get the full backwards compatibility back :,(

It is just stupid how Nintendo canceled the ability to let us play GB games on thier newest handheld and how they force us to download all the games again for like 5-10 bucks... if we wanna play them.

I mean... it's not that hard to let the backwards compatibility available is it ?

  • that would be the greatest gameboy ever

  • Bowser would have a Mac

  • Well I have never had a Nintendo console or handheld I am more of a Sega, Sony fanboy, but if there is a Nintendo system with your design I would buy it.

  • This is what I would have for a Gameboy Legacy.

Game and Watch games built in.

    All cartridge and cards compatability.

Downloadable games for region locked games working on a PAL console.

  • uhmm there's 1 error

The ds is dual screen but your ''next gen gameboy'' has only 1 scren

  • In DS mode the screen would be split in two. The screen would two modes and act like two different screens. Besides the DS in Nintendo DS originally stood for Developers System not Dual Screen we have come to call it.

  • Comment removed

  • sorry i wasnt watching it all

and+ subscribe you have some interesting video's

  • awesome!!!! but too good to be true... :(

  • I honestly think that the Gameboy is better than the DS

  • thats awsome but its missing wifi compatability to play online and download ds gba gbc and gb games so u dont need to carry stupid cartridges either u could buy points (like wii points) or insert a cartridge and download it onto the harddrive which should have alot of gigs and a sd card slot for more

  • i'll tell you what they need to do, add a virtual console to the dsi, so you can download gameboy, gameboy color, and gameboy advance

  • i forgot to say games at the end

  • That would be great for all the games I don't own, but I shouldn't be forced to repurchase games I own just to play them on a DSi. There was no practical reason to remove backwards compatibility when the last DS had a GBA slot. Heck GB and GBC games should have been compatible with the DS since the slot is the same.

It all just feels like they are trying to trick us into buying stuff we already have from an online virtual store and in the end I prefer actual carts and discs to downloads.
