  • Hail Gollum! Miserable, pitiful, abject... and yet, for all his greed, saviour of the world, final slayer of the Shadow. D.R.

  • Her voice matches the character of gollum so well!

  • I love music that captures a feeling or emotion... Like so, its so powerful

  • This is my favorite song from the Two Towers, you can feel the sadness.

  • Its so beautiful...

  • Enya and A.Lennox got perfect songs, but this is most epic, so strong, sad and full of passion...

  • He went to Jared!

  • I love how stuff this artistic can be blended in with a action/adventure film

  • Oh my word I love Icelandic accents.

  • Excelente canción. Emiliana tiene una voz genial y la tenebrosa interpretación recerdan la fría actitud de Gollum.

  • Emiliana´s voice is gorgeous. Bjork was asked to sing this, LOL

  • i think gollum is arguable tolkien's greatest creation, as a character... tolkien made a character that's so wicked and twisted, yet so wretched and pitiable. tolkien, through gandalf, talks about pitying gollum, and he really makes the readers feel true pity for gollum, rather than just telling us that we ought to pity him. and the most remarkable thing, i think, is that gollum is a character that is part of all of us, and everyone in some way can relate to him and recognise themselves in him.

  • Smeagol was mad even before he has the ring

    He killed his bestfriend x)

  • @lebogoce He killed him BECAUSE of the ring. :D He might not have been a very pleasant Hobbit, but the Ring immediately possessed him and made him do it.

  • @lebogoce

i think he killed his brother

  • @lebogoce first of all that was his brother and stupid the ring made him do it

  • @lebogoce Deagol and Smeagol were cousins -__- come on has anyone even read the books?!?!

  • Nedense bu şarkı çok hoşuma gidiyor =)

  • Smeagol... Y u make me so sad inside? :/

  • As much as gollum is a "not so nice" character, you have to feel bad for him.

  • dat gollum

  • simpely as gandalf sais "smeagols life is a sad story" and the song reflects it perfectly!

  • Poor Smeagol. </3

  • look , gollum knew true friendship until he discovered the ring and its power caused him to become addicted to it , he killed his only true friend because of the rings temptation to lead him astray from life.

  • i have no friends.

  • @6580006247 sucks to be you

  • a 40 personas les robaron el anillo único :3

  • Check out my piano cover of this song!! You'll love it!! :)

  • @pixieland98 What I think is that either you mean somebody else, or you have something wrong with you!

  • @SamauraiRippeR Lol i mean the person who plays him don't know his name though :)

  • @pixieland98 Ah, okay. That would be Andy Serkis.

  • Голлум Т_т

  • Hauntingly beautiful song

  • I don`t understand few words of this song, but it touches my heart. I love LOTR. Thank you, Peter Jackson. Thank you, John Tolkien

  • Gollum is what Frodo would have become without Sam.

  • @Sel1887 Gollum is what Bilbo would have become without Gandalf...

  • @Sel1887 Kinda but not really. Gollum entered into possession of the ring through murder and deceit.

  • @Sel1887 Except that Sauron would probably have found him sooner than he did Golum, so he's never get the chance :-) But yeah, long live Sam!

  • @Sel1887 it's more like Gollum is what Frodo would have become if he had murdered Sam to get and keep the ring.

  • @Sel1887 I doubt he would have stayed hidden for 500 years untill he it got to that point

  • @Sel1887 so gay sex is the answer to a cock ring? I see what you did there...

  • @Sel1887 T_T so true

  • Gollum rules!!!

  • makes me think of Goldfrapp...

  • Most authors make the villains either cartoonish or not truly evil.

Tolkien is one of the few who can portray evil, true evil, as something complex and pitiable.

  • I LOVE LORD OF THE RINGS!

  • This must be the saddest song there is. Seriously, the words "You are lost, you can never go home", breaks my heart.

  • Beautiful song.. I cried because it made me realize how much gollum and I are alike, strange as it seems

  • Lord of teh Rings is all my childhood, these movies still gives me goosebumps most because of the prefect soundtrack.

  • wooow! emilia torrini, these tears you cry, have come too late, take back the lies......love it

  • When this song plays at the beginning and the title letters appearing from the dark...this is what I call a detachment from reality!

  • Gollum is such a cool creation of JR Tolken. He represents everything that evil causes in our lives if we give in.

  • I pity thou Gollum.

  • constantly giving me goosebumps...like when her voice rises... kabooom mother of the goosebumps...

    brrr

    still beautiful song

  • this is real good! I'd like to have gollum as friend! XD He's real pretty

  • This song scares the hell out of me. Am I the only one?

  • Is she wearing AKG's? if so SWAAAG

  • Makes me really...really sad

  • @amosmarsters me too. T_____T

  • Tragic character, a complicated villain.

  • Gollum has the saddest story in all of the Lord of the Rings... He's whole existence is of pain and torment, all he ever knew and loved was stripped away by the ring of Power, driven mad and forced to live alone, he never knew of true friendship...

  • @Leviticus26 not true. he wasnt popular among his fellows even before. and he had a friend, but he killed him.

  • @makohfuck he killed him cause the ring corrupted him.

  • @Leviticus26 I know... I always wished J.R.R Tolkien had written a book about him, before he and Deegal were fishing that very day it was found. What was he like before all of what happened to him... So sad... :(

  • @Leviticus26 just right!

  • @Leviticus26 But he chose it. So, even without knowing the consequences his destiny was of his own making.

  • @hydesamagirl I don't think anyone actually 'chooses' the ring, it's evil and forces itself upon them, it's not something that can be resisted or abandoned, so to say Gollum chose the ring and the destiny that followed is kind of a misconception

  • @violentXcupcakes While you disagree, you haven't used evidence from the movie or original books to back your statement. Evidence in both the books and movie disproves your theory that the one cannot resist the ring. Faramir and Aragorn both have times where the ring calls them, but they resist it. This can be said of Sam and other characters as well, who at various times have access to the ring and deny its call to possess it. While the ring does call, a choice exists to answer its call.

  • @Leviticus26 But its gollum that kept the ring hidden from evil for so long, allowing men and hobbit'sis to live. and why gandalf pittied gollum.

  • @YamiPoyo Um yeah. Thats another part of what makes Gollum more tragic. I dunno, that 'but' in that sentence kinda bugged me, so had to point this out :P

  • Poor Gollum.

  • I love this song. I'm grateful to PetroleumHead for the video, but I'm disappointed it's the "Official Video." It is just an advert for the films. The song is ALL about Gollum. This video isn't. This video could have been JUST as moving as the song... I wouldn't be surprised if the Marketing Dept "helped." Perhaps a Gollum-Only video is too obscure or depressing. They don't want such a sad association to the film (because they see the masses as cattle). Just my (albeit bitter) opinion.

  • emiliana is awesome

  • This has to be my favorite bit of music from all three of the movies.

  • I will always regret not getting the Two Towers Soundtrack CD. I have the other two, but not Two Towers. :(

  • u can feel and hear how the gollum changes within

first he is crying and so on

the he changes form the victim to the torturer

stunnishing how she stresses a little the notes still staying in the perfect tune

  • awesome

  • this song is so beautiful:)

  • Wen this movie plays on TV the network makes a big mistake when they talk over this song. This is an integral part of the movie, besides being a beautiful song.

  • If anybody plays Skyrim and has gone through the Dark Brotherhood Storyline, this song goes perfectly with Cicero

  • @BanditDingo Cicero is like one of my favorite companions to be with. But the wierd thing about him is that he reminds me of the Joker.

  • Just watched Two Towers♥ I wanted to hear this song again, but Time for Return of the King!

  • i wont this song in Dubstep Remix now!!!!!!

  • The video flows excellently with her beautiful voice, it is rare to come this close to utter perfection. She hits every note so perfectly.

  • In Land of Mordor, ring wears YOU!

  • when you listen... the enchantment takes over... your mind is corrupted... your soul is torn. I am lost.

  • i think gollum represents the shadow, psicologically speaking...

  • Aren't those hobbits in Isengard?

  • ='(

  • Perfect female voice for this song, so haunting.

  • Gollum is such a poor pitiful thing. Amazing how such a tiny thing can have such an enormous impact on your life

  • My favorite lotr song, when i heard it the first time

before the credits rolled on the cinema a I had a

hard on for about two hours

  • gollum looks like my baby brother when he started to crawl

  • when i heard the first couple of word i started to cry

  • I read the hobbit + the trilogy in one weekthen saw all 3 movies in one day. My parents did not enjoy my having to check the closet for Gollum. (I was only 12!)

  • Mad how a guys book created a little universe with its own little characters that all have a long story, some sad and some good but gollums is probably one of my favored stories of lotr then probably saurons story is quite sad aswell.

  • Beautiful violin

  • Mon morceau actuel au piano :D <3

  • Over 500 years Smeagol was corrupted and twisted by the most addictive, evil and insidious drug ever.

  • The introduction to this song is perhaps the most haunting, hypnotic, beautiful and ghostly thing I've ever heard.

  • such a tragic song :(

  • You are lost; You can never go home...

    such a sad ending.

  • Many people dislike or even hate Gollum...

Just read ''the Hobbit'' and you will know the whole story...

He is such a poor creature :(

  • :( Poor Gollum.

  • This song is the best description of my life.

  • Free man needs no home. Lose everything - you will be free.

  • @clara5477

Regarding that this piece is a credits song from The Lord of The Rings, it has to fit with the rest of the score... magnificent orchestration blended with the singing. I'm offended by your slagging off the intro!

  • Too long intro...

  • She has a lovely voice!

  • BJÖRK,HER,all the icelandic singers have legendary voices even me XD

    (i'm from there)

    proof: jungledrum= frumskógar tromma!

  • thanks to that song, i can totally identify with smeagol... "no loyal friend was ever there for me!" sniffsniff... my... preciousssss

  • great song!!!!great voice!!!

  • Her voice... *.*

  • @YamiHoOu

    8=D~~~

  • This is really beautiful =O

I can't get over how amazing it is ._.

Thanks so much for uploading this :D

  • This song touches me every time I hear it...one of the most heartwrenching songs ever

  • The pain and sadness, betrayal and remorse are EPIC.

  • This...this song fits perfectly with Dark souls.

  • I'm wet.

  • i love this song! thanks for uploading!!!

  • From all three LotR movies, this ending song is the saddest... I really feel for Gollum...

  • Even after a long time and hearing it often, it gives me goosebumps and makes me feel chilly to the bone... Love it. <3

  • youre now listening to jungle drum. manually.

  • She has a fucking sexy voice *-*

  • this song is part of what makes The Two Towers my favourite film of the trilogy.

  • I love this song so much.

  • amazing! both the movie & song! :D

  • I do not always walk into Mordor, but when i do, i do it simply!

  • @banpaiaperson Really.. one time when I was really drunk I walked head first into Thedoor.. does that count for anything.. My head hurt.. So it at least counted for a headache...

  • This song is amazingly beautiful but destroyed pretty much the entire comic relief around Gollum

  • @waterrrr Seriously? Out of all the characters in this story, you think Gollum was there for comic relief? He's a tragic character. Sure, there were some funny bits of dialogue with Gollum, but in no way is he a comic relief character. At least in my opinion.

  • @2342z I thought he was actually, but that it didn't really work for me because he's such a tragic character.

I remember feeling even sadder about him at moments where he behaved funny (sort of like a little kid smiling to hide his tears), while the audience used to laugh out loud at many scenes with Gollum. That's why I thought he was meant to be a comic relief and it just didn't work for me personally.

That difference seemed to have decreased somewhat since this song and the intro of ROTK :)

  • @Waterwarp Yeah,I was kinda in a bad mood when I made that comment, but I stick to what I said. I never saw any of the LOTR movies when they were in the theatre, but I watched the hell out of them when I got the tapes and I still do. I also read the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings books(which was a while ago,but whatever). I never really took Gollum,at any point,as a comic relief. There were some funny dialogue parts, but overall he was tragic. I'm glad you paid attention to the story and agree.^^

  • i was so full of pity for smeagol when i was listening to this because of his problem with the ring but in the end it was all for the good.................... i guess.

what i mean is that ..... well ........ was frodo really any better than smeagol? i mean he looked better and wasn't as far down the road as smeagol but he was nontheless obsessed and would have turned out just like gollum if not for sam and merry and pippin.............. but mostly sam.

  • Sounds like Bjork.

  • @xdomaraqx Both are Icelandic, interestingly. I love Emiliana Torrini's voice.

  • @xdomaraqx Björk was invited to record this song, but she declined because she was then pregnant.

  • So, in the end, I'll be what I'll be

no loyal friend was ever there for me

    now we say goodbye

    we say you didn't try.

these tears you cry have come too late

take back the lies, the hurt, the blame

and you will weep when you face the end alone

you are lost, you can never go home.

    pure genious

  • Absolutely great!

  • Story of my life

  • @ragingdemon56 silly baby..

  • @unicorn1215313 you know it is!

  • @ragingdemon56

    LMAO

  • @ragingdemon56 agreed

  • this song is awesome

  • have huge amount of energy in this song ,like it very much !!!

  • :')

  • This song is just genius. I watched one of the LOTR's movies last night again, and really felt pity for Gollum at the end, which I hadn't really felt as much before(maybe in smaller quantities.) He's such a sad character. The end of LOTR always depresses me for many different reasons, but it's also very beautiful.

  • gollum's character is sad. he displays depression and addiction combined with dissociative identity disorder and borderline personality disorder. addiction and depression is beatable if the patient is willing to try. boarderline personality disoder and dissociative identity disorder are way way harder to beat because the patient is stuck with it for a long long time, sometimes they are stuck with it for the rest of their lives.

  • R.I.P. Smeagol. got himself killed for ring. the real destroyer of the ring!

  • My.. Precious!

  • When the second film ended I felt unbelieavlble

  • This song is so depressing, and its lyrics really are haunting. My Uncle killed himself this summer and this song always reminds me of him. Can't listen to it anymore. Thank God we have God.

  • This song is sooo depressing. Its almost like the Devil whispering it in your ear.

  • @klaudz You should hear Marianne Faithfull's song at the end of a French film called "City Of Lost Children" (well, that's the English title of course)

  • @WaterboyPhx Oh, gosh the title is already making me depressed lol. But Ill pass for now. Ill probably check the lyrics at least.

  • This is song is so freakishly-epicly-creepy. I love it!

  • The song is similar to Jerry Goldsmith - Basic Instinct

    watch?v=XqOfl2w9Vqk

  • don't say you didn't try

you are lost you can never go home

so in the end ill be what i will be

no loyal friends was ever there for me

now we say goodbye these tears your cry have come to late

  • wow, this was just P-E-R-F-E-C-T

  • unbelievable voice

  • now i must always think of jungle drum when i listen to this

    kinda destroys the atmosphere

  • "And you will weep when you face the end alone,

You are lost, you can never go home."

The most chilling, deep and emotion filling lyrics I think I've ever heard.

  • Lucky for Bilbo, Gandalf convinced him to give up the ring. But Seagol on the other hand.. There was no one for him..

  • Now I want to watch all the movies again....

  • this is the sadest song I have ever heard. It makes my me cry every time

  • She sounds so much like Bjork.

  • @nevershoutdubstep96 At first Björk was supposed to sing the song, but she didn't want to because she was at the end of her pregnancy, so they took Emiliana Torrini. I still think it would have been awesome if it would have been Björk. Her music is so fairy, it would have fitted perfectly.

  • @Cestpasmarrant Faery*

  • @TheRagingNerds Peraps the fact that I mostly speak french is the cause of this mistake. Yet I know ''fairy'' is not a mistake... It's a real word, lol

  • @Cestpasmarrant But the fairy you mean is spelt faery ;)

  • @Cestpasmarrant But the fairy you mean is spelt faery ;)

  • @nevershoutdubstep96 Bjork was originally meant to sing it but had to pull out because of her pregnancy :)

  • The ending to Two Towers makes me cry every time. Because there is so much more to come and the thought of it, the very thought of how exhausting it will be for Frodo and Sam and everything seems so hopeless and yet... there is still hope. It's just so bittersweet.

  • I have always LOVED Sméagol. He's my favorite(besides Sam). But in the end, I think it's good that he finally could rest in peace. The Ring had to big of a grasp on him. ): Poor babyy
