  • I guess that is the result of combining religion with politics

  • The Dalai Lama's DICTATORSHIP herein is disgusting and profoundly hypocritical in the light of what he proclaims to religiously stand for. Furthermore, his denial of the violence generated against Shugden practitioners as a direct consequence of his stance on this issue, is utterly disgraceful to put it mildly. I have lost all respect for him accordingly.

And no, I am NOT a Shugden practitioner, I am an ordained INTERFAITH Minister.

  • Hi RedNiece, Thanks for the recommendation! The points presented in TK's posting, WHY DORJE SHUGDEN HAS TO BE THE BAD GUY, is an eye opener and extremely exciting. I hope that more and more people will get to read this forum because it gives such hope that Dalai Lama and Dorje Shugden have been united and aligned all along to bring benefit to all sentient beings during these degenerate times.

  • why would he allow himself to end up going to court? Wouldn't it be easier to just "allow" this practice & just let pple deal with their own karma of practising a supposedly "bad" practice? Why does he go all the way with this so his own name gets sullied?!

To me, it must be because there's a higher reason than just the ban. He must be manufacturing something that will unravel itself soon which will benefit on a much larger scale than we can see.

  • Well, it is not good enough that the Dalai Lama doesn't talk. We would like him to talk and especially if he says that the ban on Dorje Shugden is over and that time has passed. We hope that the ban will come about quicker. That would be even better than just silence.

  • @closerelative it would be quite difficult for him to open up discussion now as there are so many contradictions in all that he has said about Dorje Shugden over the year. Opening dialogue will be a PR disaster for the TGIE, so I think the only way the ban can disperse is if it just fizzles out or when the Dalai Lama passes away

  • there's not going to be any sort of dialogue from the Dalai Lama for some time dear.

    Let's face this little fact

  • i believe there will be some sort of dialogue with the Dalai Lama soon.

  • Thanks for extra sources for Dharma news! I checked out dorjeshugden(dot)com, it is such a comprehensive site that helps provide reliable information supported by videos & articles! It is very sad that the DS controversy caused such suffering but (ironically) without this controversy, DS awareness would not spread as rapidly & internationally in the recent decade. I sincerely pray that, in the end, pure Dharma practice will pull through&DS will flourish worldwide during these degenerate times!

  • @leedhi definitely it's growing in the world. ironically, in trying to suppress and ban Dorje Shugden, he's become the most talked about Buddha IN THE WORLD now. Heck, all publicity is good publicity isn't it?

More n more people are hearing about Dalai Lama also in the media - there is so much exposure to Dharma in the media and online now. Perhaps that's what DL wanted - he attracts us to Dharma by what the modern mind likes: controversy, politics and smut!!!!

  • @leedhi by the way leedhi, do check out the forum on the ds website and look out for the posting by TK called "WHY DORJE SHUGDEN HAS TO BE THE BAD GUY"

there's a really good discussion and logical argument there about why Dalai Lama and Dorje Shugden are actually working together to MAKE THE DHARMA grow in the world.... as you have so rightly observed yourself!

  • What I do feel sad though is when you see reports like this, the outside world of non buddhists are looking upon this whole issue and thinking that Buddhism is such a farce now. Like it says, even Buddhist monks are losing faith.

I sure hope that it means a few will be sacrificed for something much bigger to arise. Perhaps a few will lose hope and faith but in a roundabout way, many more will be inspired to find out more and eventually begin a true path of practice.

  • On the point that many monks, Dharma practitioners and non-practitioners are loosing faith in Buddhadharma as a result of this controversy, my comment is: this is human natureor rather this is SAMSARA. We are not attained enough whereby our faith in something as beneficial and pure as the Dharma will be steady and clear constantly. However, with the kindness of our Buddha, the truth will always prevail and, when this happens, faith will be re-established.

  • 2 of 2: Therefore, one strategy to preserve the faith in Dharma within us and those around us is to have complete trust in our kind Guru as he is close to us and has directly shown us compassion and benefits of politics-free Dharma.

  • dharmadolly - yes. good point. Dalai lama won't be around forever and nobody knows what will happen to the TGIE after he passes away.... For Buddhism, it will be the many high lamas all around the world that will uphold the teachings. There is some good information on dorjeshugden (dot) c om about these lamas - great pictures and some biographies. Go check it out.

  • @TheRedNiece We can see that happening now with more Lamas stepping out to openly practise Shugden despite all "challenges", and monasteries like Serpom, and Shar Gaden opening.

These are all dedicated Shugden personalities and institutions that perhaps will focus and be known for one thing - Shugden practice. Perhaps this specialisation will help to make the lineage grow.

  • dharmaknight - i like what you said because I believe that it will be these high lamas (like trijang rinpoche and gaden trisul) that will make a real difference in the spiritual scene. After dalai lama passes away, it will be these lamas and their centres all around the world now who will maintain the holy lineages and practices and continue to make them grow. I look forward to seeing DS just flourish all over so more can meet him.

  • also, read the information about the ds / dalai lama issue on wisdombuddhadorjeshugden (dot) com - good chronology of events and what is really happening.

  • how can dalai lama make this "mistake" of banning shugden practitioners from his teachings, but allow murderers, nazis, terrorists, and everyone else on the planet into his teachings?! We are taught to have compassion for even evil spirits and to treat our enemies like precious jewels, but ds practitioners can't come in? Why would dalai lama be so "threatened" by DS practitioners?

  • Well, the goodnews is more and more high lamas are standing their grounds for what they believe in, ie., Trijang Rinpoche and the recently retired 101st Gaden Tripa. Read it at dorjeshugden(dot)com

Dorje Shugden manifests to protect the Gelugpa lineage and I do believe in time, we will be reunited and practice openly!

  • Give me religious freedom. I need it I want it I like it. I am born into a democracy but no religious freedom. Dalia Lama has destroyed the Buddhist practice of 1000s of incredible people. China destroyed the country Dalaia Lama destroyed the religon. When is something good going to happen for the Tibetan people. Dalai Lama stop hurting Gelugpa monks. Let Gelugpa practice as they did before you 'took over'. They were happy then there was no monks fighting monks. Let us all be a family again!!!

  • I hear that the Pope is being taken to court for banning Satan worshippers. Are you going to tell the head of a religion what their religion does and doesn't believe? i.e.: Tell the Pope what the Catholic faith is? On the other hand, I agree with truth1888, it's a LEGAL issue, not religious.

  • I hear many people in the West don't know much about the institution of the DL (political figures) and the systemS of Buddhist Tradition in Tibet.

Check out the 101st Ganden Tripa (actual head of the Gelugpas, now resident of Shugden monastery), the DL's teachers (Shugden Practicioners), what the DL did to the Kagyus...

Unfortunately there is a limit on characters for a post. And unfortunately we like our separation of Church and State in most countries and don't know DL = political leader

  • When was the last time a democratic leader born into power? He/she is elected, not chosen from a process involving a deceased person's artifacts.

In any case the situation seems akin to the Inquisition period where ''people of the book" were persecuted for theological differences. I cannot believe DL preaches religious harmony and tolerance all over the world.

  • LOL, "His Holiness" taken to court. Maybe he's not so holy after all.

  • Dorje shugden is a ghost or not is NOT THE POINT.

The point is that Dalai Lama MAY NOT BAN ANY FORM OF WORSHIP IN A FREE AND DEMOCRATIC INDIA.

Because of this ban, Dalai Lama is going to court. He has been summoned by the High Court in Delhi to plead his case.

By the Dalai lama going to court is a huge message that WHAT HE IS DOING IS WRONG.

United Nations have sent representatives to investigate the ban from Dalai lama as it is not what a democratic leader should do.

  • I agree

  • God bless India

  • I hope the truth is known about the Dalai Lama's uncompassionate actions. It's about time he was made accountable for the suffering and disharmony he has caused in the Buddhist community.
