It's a nice idea to coordinate the printed music with performance, however, it would be even better if the music the viewer sees is in the same key as that in which the singer is singing.
@temptstress666 I did. For at least 10 years. But it never went any further than a few chords irritating the hell out of me with some patronizing, abusive lyrics that constantly play with the boundaries of sanity. It is for people who can't find any better meaning for their life than to eventually die. Waste of harmony, waste of youth.
@civileso It has also saved many lifes, and gives many people hope. I'm sorry you let that one true part of your heart escape. It truly is beautiful, the perfect expression and release Bands like Coldworld for example. And friend there is no meaning to life, it truly is whatever you wish to make of it. its a beautiful ride thank god I have been given this life.
@temptstress666 I even sung many genres of rock and heavy metal. But it remained as a part of me in the past. No, it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't for me.
So then, you may want to consider that THIS music has the same effect on many people's lives and their destiny. I'm one of those who found the hope to live and enjoy countless emotions (pleasant or ugly) that human nature brings forth, in this music. Please don't call what others like "horrible" and keep on enjoying what you enjoy. Cheers!
@civileso Funny, for a few years now I have been planning to do a black metal version of this Lied. Maybe even the whole song cycle. The vocals would be this style, not harsh (not sure if it would be soprano or baritone), but black metal music. The accompaniment would be great tremolo picked on distortion guitar. By the way, I have always loved your channel.
@sas147741 Ooo wow, what a mature comment. Makes you seem like a teenager? Are you a teenager listening to this? Oh well, if not you must have been a fucking fagot listening to this in shool. Haha, fucking looser
@temptstress666 I'm just giving you the kind of attention that someone who says that the shitty heavy metal is better than Schubert deserves, so FUCK YOU METALERO CABEZA DE TACHO!
@temptstress666 indeed, this music is less appealing for the masses, and if you lack some basic knowledge about it, you may even find it horrible. no really, i'm not being ironical, and i'm not blaming you for not liking it. but it's not Schubert's fault either, it's just not for everyone, and i allow myself to say that after studying classical music for quite some time now.
@temptstress666 sure you do champ, i guess thats why you start flame wars on youtube comparing schubert to black metal? Your childish ignorance make me smile.
@feedingear Yeah, I grow tired of under amusing dip shits who were probably tuba players in the school band in highschool. Bye bye there little bud. I would expect this however with your horrible no talent shitty musical taste.
@temptstress666 You need to learn to write a coherent sentence if you want to be a professional troll on the net, otherwise no one will take you seriously sweety.
I'm not sure how my musical taste could even have a talent, perhaps you mean my music? In which case, thank you for listening! Much like this beautifully crafted lied, I hope it brought joy to the soulless shell of an existence you call your life.
This is probably my favorite of the Winterreise cycle. Fischer-Dieskau sing this better than anyone I've heard yet. The dynamics are perfect, the crescendos able to send a chill down one's spine.
Fantastic that you included D.F-D's remarks --- I never would have read this if not for you posting it here, and its fascinating and very enriching. Bravo Civileso!
@citrusbust Dieksau is singing this in G-minor, making the high notes Eb's rather than Ab's. Regardless of the range, it's an impressive performance :)
@fallenangel272 The Sheet Music scrolling across the screen is in C-minor. However, the piece is being performed in the low key of G-minor. This key fits Dieksau's voice so much better than C-minor would. Not that I doubt that this extraordinary baritone has an Ab to sing, it just makes it considerably easier for him. The high notes are Eb's by the way, something that is quite effortless for the baritone voice. Love this piece, and Dieksau's interpretation. Hope you do too :-)
Nicely done civileso! I'm just reading an article in the New Yorker about these songs and jumped on here to find something - I love what you've done with the score. Thank you!
Nice. I listened to a couple other versions on youtube and the pianists bang out the right hand far too loud. I am guessing this is Gerald Moore. It's very nice.
Is this performance transposed into A minor (a minor third down)? I hear the pitches being around there (G#, A etc) but the score's saying the pitches are higher.
Just to let u know, I loved the way u put the score in the movie. However, the music u had was in a much higher key than what was being sung. Good job though!
What a great rendition! And showing the sheet music with the audio is a nice touch. Even though Schubert died in 1829 I've always thought his style was way ahead of romance-era composition harmonically, melodically and rhythmically. As prolific as he was in his short life, I only wish he had lived to write more music.
thank you so much for uploading such a preasures presentation !!! I can´t understand that people can complain about your work (I think they have no idea how much time it took you to prepare and upload this clip)
Thanks for recognizing the effort I put in these videos. But I do know that it is impossible to please everyone. I am glad you liked it, though. Take care.
Thank you. Nice to see the music, but ... why is it in a different key? He sings in a minor, but the score is shown in c minor. A little odd, I think. And a bit confusing for someone who has the gift/curse of beeing able to hear the absolute pitch.

It would be so much better if the online score were in the same key as that of the recording.

I rather black metal than this. Nevertheless I study classic music and shit... But black metal is just what my soul is.

Thanks for making this video! The score is in a different key than the recording, unfortunately. Still nice to be able to follow along.

Why is the sheet music incorrect for the recording? (The sheet music is in C min, the recording in A min.)

It is transposed, because it was written for tenor/soprano and Fischer-Dieskau is a baritone. This is a normal procedure for Lieder
