"Get in get out get whatcha want get out" + "i found a new door, didn't know where it went, i went through it..." = those guys really have a natural feeling for words and rythm! Hip hop hardly matches this!
Something's not OK. Emerson left about 10 years ago. Since then they've only released 2 CD's, mediocre RiverRun materials , and leftovers form the bottom of the vault. The band's running on fumes and it seems they are more comfortable with creating artsy pictures and writing daily journals than composing quality music. We'll be lucky if a new albums released by 2015.
@antaabel actually their new album is out this year, and i think PARC and BETWEEN STARS tells you the band will have something awesome to show =] Well at least i hope so.
@antaabel well I saw them a few weeks ago and I have been listening to some recent stuff and that is not right, your view is valid, but I think they are coming back to being techno dance masters again. Just my view, we can't all remain in the past. And they play a lot of Emerson stuff at their gigs, what more can be asked for?
Don't get me wrong, I love underworld but this just reminds me too much of stuff like The Streets. I know Underworld were there first doing these sort of lyrics (urban rambling) but this song makes them look like they're copying rather than leading.
Love some of the other tracks on the album though. 'To Heal' is the most sublime track I've heard in years. It's truely beautiful. I'd love to hear a beated dance remix version of it.
I think Underworld wasn't trying to be original with this song. Its kind of a piss-take on UK rap, just like Born Slippy was a parody of club music (like giant, mega-clubs) of that era.
This is definitely a London thing. If you're an Underworld fan that can't get into this tune, I suggest that you were never really an Underworld fan: perhaps it was just the pills? Excellent tune, from one of their finest albums. Can't wait for the next one!
I'm American and a big fan of Underworld. I love this song. This video has me staring at the tip of the guy's nose the whole time. It's like the camera stays centered there. How do they to that? Used computer editing in post?
I wish I had written this...it's pure genius...sweet vid also...I love the chorus (if you call it a chorus in this genre). It can very easily relate to 'life' in Australia. Long live UK.
No one can call this crap Its a style a rap that not alot of people under stand . People like me who live in areas like this will like this song ,Mabe you should go to england or Dublin one day and if you then lisen to this song and you just migth understand.
The lyrics just describe scenes, views of people and thing, quite recognizable even for listeners who have never been in the place(s) he talks abaout...
Don't think the vid really matches the song though..
I know what they describe - it's just that the song is piss poor! I could describe a place that people have never been in before and put a beat behind it. Good song? NO!
The vid is great. Especially the end. As in, when it's ended.
I really didn't think I'd end up liking Oblivion with Bells, but it's gradually growing on me. This track alone has helped me appreciate/enjoy it more.
I can't say I took to the opening lyrics or the sound of the intro but the beat and chorus is just brilliant. This must be an edited version because the keys on the last chorus was just as good as on the album.
This is so terrible and derivative, it makes me want to turn away. Massive Attack's Protection was over a decade ago. And it was good instead of being complete bollocks.
This video is actually in 3D if you cross your eyes
