I dropped my phone in a pond with this case on for a good 5 second count by accident and when i pulled it out of the water and cleaned it off it was in perfect condition. The only thing i dont like about this case is its susceptibility to dust. Im a woodworker and with my phone in my pocket it can get dusty, dust gets behind the plastic case somehow and grinds against the nice black finish. Ive thrown my phone at walls and stuff like that the otterbox never fails!

Yes the otterbox is indestructible, but it doesn't protect the phone. Ugh!! I was so proud of my otter box I was even recommending it to people, cause my kids use my phone as much a I do, but i dropped my phone (it wasn't even that hard if a fall) and the SCREEN CRACKED!!!.
So the verdict is forget the super case, just try not to drop the damn phone!!

two things I don't like... that you can't charge with it in the case. 2nd thing is for some reason I charge my phone to 100 % - but since I put it in the otter box- it drains my battery??? I put it in the case it went to 90% and then to 85% after another 10 minutes with not even using this. this is not an everyday case for me
I only have 1 question.. Do you think that the headphone jack cover would eventually over time mess with the plug in port? Because it seems as though if you had your headphone in there, that the plastic piece would be pushing against it.

i love the otter box i am a RN who brings it to work with me.. i have the pink and black case.. the problem is i take it apart to clean the plastic screen and it still looks like water spots on the inside of the case.. it drives me crazy because i can never get those spots off any suggestions on cleaning the inside screen ... i love the case just can't get those spots off the inside ... grrrrrrr
@ohmeowzer1 Here is a couple things you can do.. If you put a screen shield on your phone before putting in the Otterbox Case you should not see any watermarks.. If you do not want to put a screen shield on your phone, try putting a very thin amount of baby powder on the inside screen on the Otterbox Case.. this sometimes does not work.. or last resort you could remove the plastic screen shield on your Otterbox but probably would not want to do that. hope you get it to work ok.
@ohmeowzer1 This works just about every time. U need baby power shake it up like a ton. Then get a tiny dust of air and squirt it out just a little puff onto ur plastic screen of ur defender and put ur iphone on it'll be perfectly normal afterwards the watermarks just disappear like magic.
@ohmeowzer1 My phone has a protective screen on it and I still had to use the baby powder trick to prevent the water spots. It works like a charm. I sprinkle a little on the phone scrren, rub it around with 1 finger, then wipe it off with a screen cleaner. Then install the phone in the case.
@Bhodisatva6850 - NO. I just got mine today and popped it in before cleaning, just to see how well I like it. I haven't taken off my screen protector yet, so there's 2 protectors on. It's VERY responsive to touch - I just might leave it this way for a little extra protection.
this case is amazing ive had it for about a year and all of the sudden today my screens not working and i have tried holding the sleep and the home button for 10 seconds and resetting it and DFU mode and all and i dont know whats up? i know for a fact that its not water damage or anything. please message me if you know whats wrong please!

I bought this case the first day I got my iPhone 4. It is the best case ever in my opinion. The case doesn't affect signal all that much being as bulky as it is. Highly recommended! Great video, man!
i have this case and a word of warning about the hip clip, its quite easy to break, i have been through 2 and all it takes is to bump it the wrong way or rub against your car seat while you have it on getting in or out of the car, and it will snap, if you snap it though, dont bother having it replaced its alot of trouble to go to, the take forever to give you a new one, and i get along just fine puttiny the phone in my top pocket at work, i rarely have to button the top pocket too

Not sure if this comment was added but if you press the clip to belt part all the way it becomes a stand. I use it for charging the phone on a counter in an upright position.
I just got the Otterbox Defender yesterday for my iPhone 4. Not sure yet if I'm going to be a fan. It doesn't seem to fit really well. There is a rather large gap between the Defender clear face shield and the face of the phone requiring that you push very hard on the screen, or tap very hard when you are typing, swiping or whatever. There is a very pronounced watermark between the two screens that is quite annoying. The baby powder trick worked for a few hours. Now the watermark is back.
I am a little worried about how bulky the case is, but I am not taking any chances with three kids under seven. I ordered the black and pink. Thanks for the review.
@kari0901 Thanks for the comment. Yeah, it is a little bulky but it offers the most protection of any case I've used. Otterbox also makes a case called the "commuter" which looks similar to the defender but it's thinner and doesn't have a built in screen shield.
I thought it was great at first, but it sucks! I thought I was covered when I had my phone in this case in my pocket for about an hour when it was raining, but it turned out that water got inside and killed my phone.
I knew the case wasnt waterproof, but they do advertise it as water resistant, which is BS. They suck!

@MileHighBroncos45 You don't need to use a screen protector with this case, but it wouldn't hurt to have one on either. however, most screen protectors may show a watermark while using this case.. a way to prevent that is to put a very light dusting of baby powder on your phones screen protector before you put the case on.. if you are using an anti-fingerprint screen shield like the SGP, you will not need to put powder on the screen because it doesn't watermark. That's the screen shield I use

@gixer121121 I don't know if any case will completely eliminate dust from getting inside, but I can tell you that this otterbox defender would be your best bet in keeping dust out. I use this case all the time when I go to the beach to keep sand out of my phone.. not that I lay it in the sand, but sand does tend to get on the case at some point.

A friend of mine had his Iphone ran over by a car otter box defender saved it believe it or not don't care i swear by these cases only problem have with them is the clip the phone will fall out of it easily don't use the clip it will fit in your pocket
@JacksonGross Yes, it does cause some problems when typing. I had one for awhile and more often than not pressing space would type an 'N' instead since the cover sits so far away from the screen. another issue is that the plastic screen cover would always stick to the screen and cause bubbles, which got really annoying. Those were the main issues I encountered and other than that it's a pretty nice case. So don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing it. I am just pointing out the obvious flaws.
The beltclip holster SUCKS!!! I've lost one phone due to it's poor design. It doesn't secure the phone well and my phone falls out frequently. Good thing the case is highly protective.

There is a very pronounced watermark between the two screens that is quite annoying. The baby powder trick worked for a few hours. Now the watermark is back.

I am a little worried about how bulky the case is, but I am not taking any chances with three kids under seven. I ordered the black and pink. Thanks for the review.

@kari0901 Thanks for the comment. Yeah, it is a little bulky but it offers the most protection of any case I've used. Otterbox also makes a case called the "commuter" which looks similar to the defender but it's thinner and doesn't have a built in screen shield.

I thought it was great at first, but it sucks! I thought I was covered when I had my phone in this case in my pocket for about an hour when it was raining, but it turned out that water got inside and killed my phone.
I knew the case wasnt waterproof, but they do advertise it as water resistant, which is BS. They suck!

@olivkaro Hey there.. no, this case is not waterproof at all. It mostly is designed for drop protection and to keep dirt away from your phone.

should i use screen protectors while using this? i know it isn't necessary but my screen has never been exposed

@MileHighBroncos45 You don't need to use a screen protector with this case, but it wouldn't hurt to have one on either. however, most screen protectors may show a watermark while using this case.. a way to prevent that is to put a very light dusting of baby powder on your phones screen protector before you put the case on.. if you are using an anti-fingerprint screen shield like the SGP, you will not need to put powder on the screen because it doesn't watermark. That's the screen shield I use

@drockflorida thanks broha i literally got the case today bc of this review. i dont have a screen protector under the otterbox, but the screen protector on the otterbox is WONDERFUCKINGFUL. it's like it isnt even there, and you have a brand new screen 24/7. the screen protector is better than the ones i bought from at&t

@gixer121121 I don't know if any case will completely eliminate dust from getting inside, but I can tell you that this otterbox defender would be your best bet in keeping dust out. I use this case all the time when I go to the beach to keep sand out of my phone.. not that I lay it in the sand, but sand does tend to get on the case at some point.

I think its your best bet since your ports are completrely covered. The sync port is the worst place for dust to get in and its covered.

i love this case,i hav the white on black domino!and i've dropped my iphone three times on tile floor while in the otterbox and i gotta say i'm highly satisfied with the case my iphone is STILL workin properly and everything.to me the case is worth every penny you pay for it

I'm in the USAF and this is the best case for hard work. My friend got deployed to Afan. and he said his iPhone was in mint condition when he came back to the states, thanks to the Otter

A friend of mine had his Iphone ran over by a car otter box defender saved it believe it or not don't care i swear by these cases only problem have with them is the clip the phone will fall out of it easily don't use the clip it will fit in your pocket

@JacksonGross No, not at all.. I tried typing with the case on and I had a screen shield on my phone and it was not a problem at all.

@JacksonGross Yes, it does cause some problems when typing. I had one for awhile and more often than not pressing space would type an 'N' instead since the cover sits so far away from the screen. another issue is that the plastic screen cover would always stick to the screen and cause bubbles, which got really annoying. Those were the main issues I encountered and other than that it's a pretty nice case. So don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing it. I am just pointing out the obvious flaws.

The beltclip holster SUCKS!!! I've lost one phone due to it's poor design. It doesn't secure the phone well and my phone falls out frequently. Good thing the case is highly protective.
