  • portugues=porco-gays

  • what is the song playing at the begining of the video. Please answer thanks!!!

  • @opoqu Tiro ao Álvaro

  • @languagenow Thank you!!! :D I'm starting to learn a bit of portuguese although I'm really trying to learn spanish. I'm about fluent and I just came from ESpana!

  • Very good!

  • you are an awesome teacher... but dude, close your window or whatever is beaming that light on you!

    obrigado.i amam brazil

  • muito bom :D

  • thanks cupcake!

  • Nice video. It's probably pretty hard for non-native speakers to get used to power verbs. Either way, your videos are great! Almost all of the native English speakers that I've seen trying to speak Portuguese had a very strong accent, but you speak it pretty much as a Brazilian would. It must have been really hard to get used to it.

  • I love these videos, they´re really great. I´m in Brazil right now, Paraná, and this will come in really useful when talking to my friend´s mother. Muito obrigada!

  • Cool, where in Paraná exactly?

  • I´m staying close to the city Maringá, where my friend goes to school. It was torture getting here, it took a day to get here and a day-long layover in Curitiba. I´m here now, and it´s alright. I mean, I´ve basically been sleeping all day. I guess it´s a vacation, right?

  • The state of Paraná is one of the tree states of south region.

  • @languagenow O Paraná é um Estado do sul do Brasil.

  • Hello professor. I have a doubt, in the last video i watched form power verbs i saw the question "¿De onde voce e?" with double interrogation sign like in spanish. But here i see the questions with only the second interrogation sign "?". Which is the proper way in portuguese grammar??

  • Just a single "?", as in English.

  • thank you!

  • Portuguese to me sounds like a baby speaking Spanish, that is why it is so hard for us Spanish speakers to understand them, but they understand us real well, i don't get why though...?

  • Is that true you don't understand us ? you mean nothing ? not a single word?

We do understand some spanish cause for us Spanish sounds like someone speaking Portuguese with a twisted tong.... no offense mate, but spanish also sound a quite charming and exotic to us.

  • Spanish is similar to the Portuguese in just a few words ...

but the Portuguese is 100x more difficult

  • well for me it is a quite easy once I was born in a Portuguese speaking country... anyway difficulty is just a mental barrier.. Spanish is a quite intuitive to be understood for us Brazilians.

  • we understand a bit ...

is like for people who do not speak english who think that british english is equal to the US...

  • If you talk to me slowly in Portuguese I can understand what you are saying, but if you are speaking normal like to your Portuguese speaking friends, it's hard for me to understand. But I do like the language i like the way it sounds. Like spanish with a total different accent.

  • I like the music that you added on this lesson. All your portuguese lessons are great. Obrigada for posting them. Maybe you can add some lessons for the airport, train, bus, hotel, etc.

  • Nice video! But shouldn't it be "assistir a um filme"? (I am struggling with those prepositions). Anyway, keep up the good work!

  • Good question, technically, "na norma culta," yes. But many speakers today supress this preposition with assistir. Good catch!

  • WONDERFUL I LOVE BRAZIL :D

  • perfeito, muito obrigada....

  • Awesome video Jason. It works fine. I called our friends in Brasil and used your phrases, tips and tricks. We will practise more and more.

    Thank you so much.

    Ron

  • Dear Professor Jason,

One day before we leave to Brasil we watched your new video. Again it is very useful. Muito Obrigado.

    Ron

  • Ron, Are you in Brazil? Let me know how your trip is going! Abraços! Jason

  • Awesome! :) I love how you give examples. It's easy to learn grammar rules, but it's so much harder to actually learn to use them properly. Your lessons are very very helpful!

A big thanks from Europe :) Have a wonderful day!:)

  • Mutio obrigado! Vc é o melhor! :)

  • alguem me sabe dizer qual é a musica do inicio?

  • Adoniran Barbosa e Elis Regina - Tiro ao Álvaro

  • Muito obrigado, e parabéns pelo maravilhoso trabalho que fazes com estes vídeos fantásticos.

  • wow, portuguese seems much more difficult than spanish even though they're supposed to be very similar. I don't think I'd be able to learn that on my own, I'd need a formal school class.

(btw, thank you for the worksheets you sent me a while ago. I forgot to thank you after I received them. They were helpful)

  • nah, it's not much more difficult. the pronunciation is perhaps more complex, but grammar is very similar. glad you liked the handouts!

  • thanks so much. these videos are so useful and helpful.

  • great! glad to help!
