  • I believe that when you sign a contract they'll tell you we're going to release a best of compliation or greatest hits at some point in your career so it's seems something normal that parlophone would release this.

  • 0:45, is that where thom danced for Lotus Flower?

  • Get Pablo Honey instead of this.

  • 'The Best of' is nothing but EMI's revenge on Radiohead for leaving them

    TBD Records FTW!!

  • BOJATRAX ese es otro video de high and dry

  • alguien puede decirme como se llama la canción de la imagen lloviendo a los 0:20 ?

can someone tell me how the song is called the image raining to 0:20?

  • @bojatrax my iron lung

  • @bojatrax High And Dry

  • damn, i thought their best of album was called kid a

  • what song is in the background?

  • @LolaLavonda the first song i mean

  • @LolaLavonda my iron lung

  • I would like it better if they called it an introduction into, rather than greatest hits, the very best, ultimate collection, etc. After all we can't have too many Radiohead fans.

  • for all of you guys that think radiohead left their label because they wanted to, radiohead signed a six album contract with EMI

  • I have all of their albums, so i don't need this, but i still recommend it for new people. It's hard to get new people into radiohead since most people would recomend listening to their full albums. In this generation, people are used to singles, so it is easier to get someone into the band with a greatest hits, then have them listen to the albums.

  • whats the name of the song in 2:52 secons

  • @mazshioXD I Might Be Wrong.

  • @GzzikaaP

    thank u very much

  • might be wrong

(thats the name of the song lol)

  • I hate bestofs and I'll never by any

  • fuck you EMI

  • whats the image at 0:53 - 0:54 ? is it from a clip?

  • knives out

  • If I were to go out and buy Hail to the Thief right now would the band get any money? Seeing as how they're no longer with the label. Serious question.

  • yeah

  • they'd still get money, yeah.

  • It depends on the kind of contract they signed. Some allow the record label to collect royalties only for a certain period of time..a few years usually.

  • I agree with a lot of comments here and like most Radiohead fans I am conflicted, I love this promo but feel dirty for enjoying it coz its just a big faceless greedy record label making money from it.

I did not buy the greatest hits CD for that very reason, plus there is absolutely nothing on either of them that a true Radiohead fan does not already have!

I say steal it of the internet and fuck the record labels!!!

  • Same here. I've got every album they've ever done so there's no point. I might say to people it's a starting point but I really don't think so. The Bends or Ok Computer would be better.

Fact is they have said in interview that they would NEVER to a greatest hits. This like you say is the record company acting not on their behalf, now that they've left.

But if you know nothing, it "might" be a good place to start. Not being a "snobby" fan, just know the situation.

  • Haha I got the cd and you guys had a typo on it .

    it says idiotesque ?

    it's idioteque if I'm not mistaken .

  • Comment removed

  • which one is the video of the 00:54?

    its like thom digital..

    thx

  • the video is for the "go to sleep" song on the Hail to the thief album,.

  • god damn bitches trying to make more money off of them after they left the record company, i cant wait to torrent the shit of this stuff.

  • Right on!

  • I agree. Although I like this little compilation vid of what Radiohead is excluding their 'in rainbows' album era off course, these 'best of...' and 'deluxe edition' albums are just to make more money off of them since they're not on parlophone/emimusic anymore. It's always about the money. Sadly.

  • yeah, this montage of their music life was really quite nice :) but it saddens me that they only made it to make more money.

  • i love my iron lung

  • what's better than excellence? cause Radiohead is 10 times better than that

  • what the song at 0:14 and at 3:33 please ?

    Thank you :-)

  • my iron lung! :D

  • 0:14 was My Iron Lung and 3:30 was Just.

    Both by Radiohead.

  • 0:14 is My Iron Lung

  • lol on canadian version of the cd it saus Idiotesque

  • fuck you parlophone.

  • What songs playing at 3:00?

  • "i might be wrong" dude.... :P

  • "...just making silly noises day in and day out. It was great." lol, hes awesome

  • radiohead is prety much the closes a band has come to exelence...

  • excellence. and Id say they are excellent

  • 00:54

    GO TO SLEEP, brilliant song

  • Best of? I don't think so, the best is heard throughout the albums, not a pick of the top 4 from each.

When I am king parlophone will be first against the wall.

  • paranoid android :-)

  • that's the song pablo honey gee is it that hard to learn your lyrics

  • the reaction to this is hilarious

  • honestly

radiohead is one of the very very few bands where it's worth a listen of all their songs

really should go buy all the albums!!!!

  • Can anybody tell my what the song at 1:40 is called?

  • that'll be street spirit (fade out), it's gotta be one of my favourite radiohead songs

  • Thanks! That was one of the songs that I knew almost completely, without knowing the name it. ;)

  • oops didnt see you got an answer already! sorry yo

  • Marcterkeurst its street spirit at 1:40

  • This is one of the greatest insults parlophone could have hit radiohead with, a best of usualy tells us that the bands best days are behind them, well there not. Fuck you '' This is what you get, when you mess with us'' pigs

  • Fuck You Parlophone.....we hope that you choke!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Fuck you Parlophone. Don't ever buy a greatist hits cd by Radiohead. You won't get the experience ever radiohead album gives you. Get the compact disc for great quality. Don't even buy on itunes.

  • the best of is ok, but if u want the full radiohead experience u gotta buy all the cds =)

  • It took me five years to "get" OK computer. Can you believe that? One day it just clicked...

  • ROBIN HOOD! yay

  • how is it than that by many critics, by rolling stone, time, and many others they are considered to be the geatest band of the last 20 years?

  • Coldplay fan fails again

  • The fact that you're looking around for Radiohead videos to diss is proof how fucking stupid you are.

  • am i the only one that thinks radiohead and the white stripes should do a show together?

  • why?

    btw interedting idea :)

  • i dont know, it's probably because they are the two bands that i'm listening to most these days.

  • what is the name of the first song???

  • My iron lung

  • the one with the noises as the word radiohead comes up is planet talex

but when the advert gets going its my iron lung

  • the first full song is my iron lung, but the song playing when it says "radiohead" is planet telex

  • Coldplay are SHIT!!! utter!! trendy bollocks!! for the old git kids :) who don't like challenging music :)

  • Radiohead is surely one of the best bands ever. (:

  • it's not about the coolness/indie or anti-corporation... it's all about music, people... who cares about the label, focus about the music. So, OKC and Bends is one of the best records yes, but because of it is EMI's so you don't buy it? Fool.

  • Right on

  • Well at least it doesn't have a picture of Thom on the front with bad hair, as Jonny feared :D

  • Besides, if any of you had any kind of brains, you would have put out a compilation of b-sides, and/or rare material, if you really wanted to exploit their name.

No one's gonna buy this (second) repackaged sham - anyone who isn't a fan already, are highly unlikely to be convinced by this mockery. And exisitng fans already own all this material, one way or another.

You made the vital mistake of once again trying to appeal to the masses, rather than the established fans.

As I said - your loss.

  • Lame. Fuck off EMI, you little muthafucking crybabies. You lost out on so much, and now you're bitter as a result - get over it.

  • EMI snakes!!

  • just want to second the motion on emi. dont buy it. they are wankers.

  • it is not about guts or fear....

it's the fact they really can't manage to reach those album levels...

never heard another song like karmapolice or exitmusic from them.

  • Funny how people go on and on about Coldplay??? who always sit in their lame safetly zone! trying to be the next u2?? Radiohead are cool for making good tunes and having the guts to push their sound in different directions with no fear! Ok Computer was great! I also loved Kid A! I remember people bitching about it because it wasn't Ok Computer part 2??? guess what! if you want the same old all the time! be a Coldplay fan :)

  • The people that complain about Radiohead fans complaining about EMI!! need to wake up!! this is not a release from the personal choice of the band! EMI has pissed them off!! anyway! why does some people calim to be a Radiohead fan and rush out to buy this cd?? aren't you like me? have all the albums!! so why buy the best of?? your just making EMI some extra money!

  • rage rage silly internet typer, Coldplay evolves. That fact is so obvious if you actually listen before you open your mouth/type

  • Coldplay evolves?? LOL! yeah right. they play it safe and copy afew things on the way or nick a tune from some smaller band :) cough cough

  • yup, creakyboards themselves already retracted their claims (which proves they were just after fame and coldplay didn't sue because things like that don't get to them) It's about the music :)

  • coldplay are absolutely auperb. i dnt know any other bands who can produce 4 flawless albums. there are no fillers!!

  • i do, muse!! only a few songs from colplay are good, especially the old ones like shiver and yellow, but the new ones kinda suck

  • Read the reviews.

Coldplay make nice, safe records. They know they have a formula which sells. It's a formula. Contrived fragiltiy, catchy stadium anthems, lyrics which use platitudes and say everything and nothing at the same time. A complete refusal to address any of the more edgy, dangerous political issues which Martin always rants on about. Massive commerical success and popular appeal. Desperate for critical appeal, but failing. Coldplay are a brand. And a successful one.

  • they arent safe. coldplay ar every different. a rush of blood to the head isnt a safe album. viva la vida isnt a safe album. people argue X&Y was but i thought that was an extraordianry album.

and i hate bands that put politics into music. its always about how much they hate george bush and nobody cares. tbh im ok with the war anyway but thats irrelevant.

    coldplay are superb

  • Of course it's safe. Read any review you want. Safe is not challenging anything, but keeping the status quo. Not having any new ideas but just repeating the same thing - catchy, melodic, radio-friendly songs with everyman lyrics that say nothing that hasn't already been said before. X and Y's lyrics were awful - platitudes "go forwards then backwards again" and that bloody awful rhyming in Swallowed. It's all contrived to sell records. I don't believe Martin to be lonely for one minute.

  • i dont think you can complain about boring samey records when you listen to radiohead.

i actually went out and bought OK computer to see what the fuss was about. its just a noise and the occasional dying cat in the background. i really didnt understand the appeal. it was non stop bashing of instruments all the way through.

  • That's probably because it's too challenging for you, if you think Coldplay are not a safe band. Look, mate, it's not really controversial - you're the only one protesting. Read the links I posted. Even the BAND agree with the criticism. Brian Eno, their producer of VLV, laid into them about their faults and what they had to do to get critical acclaim, and, as you can see, Martin AGREED with the criticism, also from the New York Times. So you're on your own in defending them. The band accept it.

  • they are not 'too challenging' for me. alot of critics rated razorlights second album as very good but thats appalling so thats nothing to do with it.

and yes i know ok computer always comes top in the best 100 albums and i dont understand why.

also can i ask for you to stop replying because i only replied twice previous to this and you keep sending me thigns and its filling up my inbox and ive lost the will to live now. thanks xx

  • I'm not sending anything to your inbox at all, I'm just replying here on the public messageboard and I am educating you because you seem ignorant. You are effectively running away from a discussion which you were perfectly happy to be involved in to start with, purely because you have been shown up by your lack of understanding. The band you think are so wonderful themselves agree with the very criticism I made. Go cry over your chris poster and one day you might be mature enough to understand

  • In terms of your critique of OK Computer, it's a very immature one. At least I tried an intelligent approach. A dying cat? Karma Police? Paranoid Android? Let Down? The critics rate this album extremely highly, and it's always in "Top 100" albums of all time. Which Coldplay just don't achieve. Seriously, if you can't appreciate Radiohead, and critics also rate them, then perhaps you need to develop a more mature taste than the MOR, plodding Coldplay, which is easily-accessible and has no depth

  • I don't think they're a bad band - I've got most of their stuff. But they don't say anything new. The point about politics is that if Chris had the courage of his convictions (he wears any slogan going) he might choose his music as the perfect forum. But he's too scared of upsetting the apple-cart. Radiohead try to move on, as did bands like the Roses, Smiths etc, and deal with new ideas, different issues, new sounds. Coldplay aren't bad, but they'll always be safe, radio-friendly, massive pop

  • One last thing!

Google "The case against Coldplay New York Times" and read John Pareles (a leading US music critic) who puts it well.

  • Coldplay's reaction, in "Coldplay Stunned by NYT reaction"

"It was a big deal, and from a publication we all respect. "I agreed with a lot of the points, it was liberating to see that someone else realised that also." Martin tells Rolling Stone magazine, "He goes, `Your songs are too long and you're too repetitive, and you use the same tricks too much, and big things aren't necessarily good things, and you use the same sounds too much, and your lyrics are not good enough.' He broke it down".

  • look, to be honest with you, i am 16 years old. and i dont like being called ignorant or uneducated because thats really what i am not. i actually go to a super selective grammar school and so i am not your common muffer just bashing bands to wind people up. dont give me this 'im so intellectual' talk because im not interested nor impressed on youtube. i just stated my opinion and since radiohead arent an autocratic band who run the country, i am allowed to do this. thank YOU so much.

  • Never said you were ill-educated, merely that you seemed ignorant about the Coldplay issue. This is a discussion forum, if you claim they are an amazing band, it is reasonable for me to disagree and say why - and it happens that the band also agree. You threw your toys out of the pram with a childish response ("oh you're filling my mailbox up xx). If you're not impressed with intellecutalism, why make a deal out of going to a grammar school? I went to public sch+oxford uni-but who cares on here?

  • you went to oxford? okay you win.

i doubt coldplay agree they suck.

they'd just stop making albums then wouldnt they.

they always criticise themselves in interviews in a jokey way anyway.

i doubt they really think they're a bad band and then go and produce golden songs

  • You're keeping this going aren't you!?

Have you read the link? Or my cut and paste? The band don't say they suck (they don't and I don't think they do). The point is that they don't agree with YOU that they are so amazing. Have you not thought that money and fame and popular adoration are pretty strong factors in keeping the Coldplay brand going! They are a reasonable band. They're not bad. Just not in the same league as the greats. And they know it and admit it. Anyhow, am off now as tired!

  • lol no way. its very 'uncool' to like coldplay as a teenager, but most teenagers like oasis so this is different! codplay are great and until they start producing crap ill always think that!

that was offically my last comment on the subject

  • OK OK, just when you're 25, stop, remember my post, and just see whether you're still listening to the same stuff. People's tastes in music, books, art, politics etc. all change and develop over time - that's life. God, it would be very dull if you (or anyone else) only ever liked one band. Trust me. You will see in time. I did and so did everyone I know!

OK, turning the computer off now (no pun on radiohead intended)!!

  • im sorry too. goodnnight

  • No probs. All the best. Night!

  • Anyhow, am sorry if I upset you, really not my intention. As you say, you can like whatever music you like, but if you want to come on forums (for other bands) and slate them, you have to be prepared to deal with those who disagree. These message boxes are too short and I'm tired now. As I say, you seemed unaware of the bigger picture about Coldplay, and I was attempting to widen your knowledge - which is a good thing. Anyhow, enjoy Coldplay if you like, and no hard feelings! Can't type anymore!

  • personally i disagree. they're better than overrated U2 who makes 456 albums and when they manage to make a few good records everyone loves them.

but yeah this arguing must stop.

i think coldplay are the best band of the 21st century and are easily up there with the greats.

    look, take care

  • OK, one last thing! This is not supposed to sound patronising, it's from personal experience:the music that you love when you're 16 will, I promise, be very diff from that when you're 21, 25, 30 etc. I used to adore Oasis and thought they were the best ever, and I didn't listen to much else. Then I went to uni, and found the Roses, Smiths + loads others and, in time, they showed Oasis up for what they were. You will change your views, just like I did, and remember Coldplay fondly but in context

  • And one last last last thing! You're 100% right about U2!! We agree on that at least!

p.s. the 21st century is only 8 years old!!

Right that is it. Am ofski!

  • lol i do like multiple bands though, coldplay are just my favourite.

we'll have a shut down race

    byee

  • It's so ironic that they use the song "My Iron Lung" to promote it.

  • UP YOURS EMI!!!

  • DON'T BUY THIS

  • no one is going to buy this! gutted!

  • Booo - EMI!

I wish that if they did exploit Radiohead's backlog , they compiled a rarities album including songs like True Love Waits, Nobody Does It Better, Talk Show Host, Lift, Paperbagwriter, Pearly, The original Reckoner, Follow Me Around etc.

Sneaky of them to stick True Love WAits on the end of the new best of aswell - I bet loads of people bought the whole album just for that track.

  • Ci vediamo il 18 giugno a Milano!!!

  • what 's the title of the first song!!

  • the first song played in the video? 'My Iron Lung' :)

  • at 0.34...is that that dude from Degrassi? what vid is that from?

Im new to Radiohead, so I am unknown of the names of these tunes, but I do knw enough to say NO to this comp.

  • thats from street spirit!

  • hhahahaha degrassi! old school classic!

  • if you see this album in a record store take it and hide it somewhere or throw it in a trashcan

  • I'll only get the dvd. Nothing more that that

And when i say "get", i'm talkin about downloading it from some blog or forum.

  • "...in principle, a best-of Radiohead compilation is similar to a DVD containing somewhat thoughtfully picked scenes from films made by a specific director. For a very casual fan who has absolutely no interest in exploring beyond the songs he or she heard on the radio or through MTV and the like, this set will do (it has "Creep" and half of The Bends, after all, and then a bunch of "the weird stuff"), but otherwise it clearly serves a purpose more meaningful for the label than anyone else."

  • Yes, Radiohead is a brilliant, legendary band. And, yes, EMI is a greed-driven corporate machine. No, I will not buy either of the best-of CDs as I already own every Radiohead album (from Pablo Honey to In Rainbows), as well as a number of EPs. So there's no point in purchasing a compilation of songs I already own - and the order they are in is SO strange ("Anyone Can Play Guitar" followed by "How to Disappear Completely"? If you say so, EMI!).

  • Fans of Radiohead should do everything they can to avoid this record.

It is not supported by Radiohead, to quote Thom Yorke.. "pointless", saying, "if we'd been behind it, it might have been good".

Its simply a childish, money grabbing response by EMI to Radiohead refusing to sign a further record deal with them.

  • hahaha yeah. the whole fact that 'creep' was included in it, say a lot. hahaha

  • WE WANT GINGER THOM BACK!!!

He looks so cute!!!, well he's bit ginger right now..OMG I LOVE HIM!!!

  • I'd still rather buy this than that new album from the dire Coldplay.

    Ack.

  • Coldplay is very dire :) and EMI stink!! anyone heard the Sex Pistols tune 'E.M.I' :) that says it all :) such ashame Radiohead doesn't get complete control over their back-log!!

  • I like how they've made it seem that the band agreed to this. It all LOOKS very positive.

At least they've got some Phil speech in there.

  • anyone who thinks of buying this, get the track list and just download the tracks from radiohead on itunes or something. this album is just a money maker for the label!!

  • But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo.

What the hell am I doing here?

    I don't belong here.

  • interesting trailer

  • agreed.. this is bullshit. this is the record label and not radiohead. support radiohead and buy the new album. support big bucks and buy this album.

  • thank you, very helpful

  • boycott this!

  • whats at 2:55??

    i relly wanna know

  • i might be wrong, amazing riff/song

  • it's 'i might be wrong'

  • that was a comment for znoahmarhoadskill

  • Which video is the one at 54 seconds?

  • "knives out!!" :D really good song!!

do u know the name of the song in this vid??

  • no , knives out is at 52/53, i want to know the one after it which is lyk 54/55 seconds

thanks though for trying to help me out, but if u do know the one after knivesout i would gladly apreciate it!

  • haha my bad! yea the one after it, its "Go to sleep" enjoy!

  • i love radiohead, but i won't be buying this. Radiohead (much like The Beatles) are a band where yo uhave to by the studio albums, not the best of.

  • no fucking way will i buy this. parlaphone are rediculous

  • And I don't think I consider myself to be an idiot for buying the boxset. It is a very nice little package and has been done well. Its up to individual people to make the choice of what tey want. OK, so EMI did go behind Radiohead's back for this, just to make some more cash, but lets face it, EMI are gonna be bringing Radiohead to more and more peoples attention, which can't be a bad thing. Considering they've already got some new songs ready for another album!

  • the thing is, I'm against how EMI are just releasing everything. I have been a fan of Radiohead since 97 and have collected all U.K CD releases, I have DVD's, magazines, books, newspaper articles, signed photo's, posters, collectable vinyl. This means, I will probably end up buying something from this!

I do think this is a slightly good thing though, as people get to hear what is considered to be the best, and bringing Radiohead to a more mainstream audience!

  • to all the idiots who bought the discbox and/or are going to go out and consume this mindless drivel: THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RADIOHEAD!! they left EMI, and now, as a way to make money off the tour and In Rainbows, they issued this. i loved to see the footage, but im staying clear of anything EMI, especially these days (thanks, Chris Martin).

  • this album is against the wishes of the band, just a way for EMI to make a quick buck.

this comment will probably be deleted

  • every video is like an art peice,

    theyre great

  • I won't buy the Best of CDs coz I bought the discbox & I've got all the albums, but I'd love very much to see a best-of of their videos, which I think theyve already done...?

  • 2:53- Which music video is that? It looks really cool. It played to 'I might be wrong'

  • It is the video of "i might be wrong"... the song is more famous than the video!

  • this is the Best comment ever!!!

  • yay cant wait :D

  • LOL 1:35 mics in front back and to side - joke

  • a?????????

  • 590th

  • im the 416th viewer

did i just see a computerized Thom Yorke?

  • which one, the Go to sleep video or the one used for the Bends cover?

  • an i am the third

  • so what?

  • and i am the 2nd
