  • Asside from molesting boys I remember something from history called "The Spanish Inquisition" established by Catholic Monarchs in 1498.

The estimates range from 3,000-5,000 Jews and Muslims were tortured and executed under Catholic rule between 1500-1700 AD. I'm pretty sure Blackwater has nothing on the Catholic religion when it comes to killing innocent people.

I love it when religious morons despite the facts jump on a feel good band wagon and point their fingers at others, hypocrites.

  • cont. ...The Afghanistan surge of American military will also mean a surge of 26,000 to 56,000 private contractors." "It is also time to stop these contractors from getting away with murder." said Dan Kenney, of No Private Armies.

  • So, if I understand this right, we're going to remove the security and military contractors and replace them with US Armed forces. In other words, more troops. This does not make sense to me. Why not establish Congresional Oversight on exsisting contracts and leave those who want to be there right were they are and keep our service personal out of there? The US military is unsuited for these roles and can't even come close to the training level of the private contractors there now.

  • The private contractors have mostly been trained by the U.S. military so how is it that the military is "unsuited for these roles".That's quite an insult to the U.S. Military. There is a sequence of events here that you seem to not understand. The military can't get enough soldiers to enlist and the government doesn't want to call a draft as it has in every war until Bush 1's war. Why doesn't the government want to call a draft? Well because there would be a discussion in Congress called a debate.

  • Actually, no they are not, and it's not an insult at all because many of the specialist training roles are tought at civilian training facilitys. Yes, EX-military instructors because of budget cuts, base closings and the "Reduction of Forces" the Libs got through. Been there, done that, got the Tshirt.

Here, go look up Xe (pronounced Zee) and see for yourself, or "Blackwater Training" if you'd like to see even more.

  • An investigation into a unit of security contractor Xe, formerly known as Blackwater, shows the company didnt properly vet the people it hired for a training contract in Afghanistan, employees recklessly used firearms they werent authorized to have and the Army didnt provide sufficient oversight of those contractors when mistakes were reported, according to a statement released Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010 by Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin, D-Mich.

  • The use of mercenaries is another example of the failure of our society. Mercenaries have lead to horrendous consequences throughout history. The use of Hessian mercenaries in the Revolutionary war were a failure and there use in Iraq and Afghanistan will do the same. You defend them because you make money off of it somehow and refuse to recognize the descructiveness of these wars of aggression. You watch too many Bruce Willis movies.

  • You somehow missed what I said "Why not establish Congresional Oversight on exsisting contracts". See? I would like them accountable in some fasion rather then let them be cowboys running around with no rules. You would ask our military to be the only ones there, like THEY have a good track record. Are we forgetting the prisons they ran and the soldiers who were brought up on charges for mistreatment of them? There are ALWAYS bad apples, so don't toss out the baby with the bath water.

  • I didn't miss what you said it just won't work if they want to serve...re-up.

  • That's the WHOLE point. People slash the Military budget and then wonder why we don't have the trained personal to do the jobs needed. Where do you think those ex-military specialist goto when things like the "Reduction of Forces Act" comes along?

You can't have it both ways.

The US Army couldn't even feed it's troops without sub-contractors. Does the Army fix it's own vehicals? It used to but not anymore, again, sub-contractors.

We end up paying MORE to contractors then we would ....

  • ....by giving the Military a better budget. Aint that a kick in the pants?

  • No we stop the wars, lower the military budget and use the money to create jobs here in America. Americans are getting "kick(ed) in the pants" by a government controlled by corporations that are making lots of money off the wars and off the lives of young soldiers. Its time to stop the wars of aggression. Stop our Imperialist foreign policy and rebuild America instead of destroying other countries and stealing their oil and other raw materials.

  • ....the responsibility of the American military to train troops and police, guard convoys, repair weapons, administer military prisons, and perform military intelligence. The bill also would require that all diplomatic security be undertaken by U.S. government personnel. The White House could seek exceptions, but those contracts would be subject to congresional oversight. "It is time to end our dependency upon private security and military contractors. The Afghanistan....cont. on next post.

  • Today, Feb.23,2010, Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt) introduced legislation that would phase our private security contractors in war zones. Last year the U.S. employed more than 22,000 hired guns in Iraq and Afghanistan. "The behavior of private contractors has endangered our military, hurt relationships with foreign governments, and undermined our missions overseas," Schakowsky said.

The Stop Outsourcing Security Act would restore ..........continued on next post.
