thanx for putting this up my grandad served here with the liverpool scotish - he was gassed and suffered with shell shock . he returned to liverpool at the end of the war. im looking to get more info on him have not got that much. his name was george baker any one out there who could point me in the right direction ?
Yeah it looks a nice place. My Mum and Sister went there last year but didnt actually go into the wood. I would like to look around the wood when i go. I,ll try doing what you suggested and take some info about my Great Uncle and try and speak to the people who own the land.
Its great to see this video as my Great Uncle was served with the Ox and Bucks Light Infantry and was killed at Railway Wood on 17th October 1915, aged 18. I,m hoping to visit the area myself in the next couple of years.
Its a lovely spot . Unfortunately most of the forest seen in the clip is on private land with warning signs all over. When you visit maybe bring information on your Uncle and find the owners (I think there is a house in the centre of the wood). They might allow you to explore the wood a bit if they knew your family connection to the area.
