  • Hi, I'm Peter Graves- is this Biology 101 at the University of Minnesota?

  • Barbara Bain and Martin Landau were the best actors the MI series

ever had. Nimoy, Lesley Ann Warren, Barbara Anderson and other cast

members never held a candle to those two. If you watch MI series you

notice how they had to dumb down much of the character dialogue after

they left due to less competent actors.

  • Just love the idea that Gregg Morris couldn`t be trusted to wire a plug correctly.

  • Peter Lupus always in Citröen H Van..!

  • @edestci LOL! The biggest guy out of everyone on the team and got stuck in those little matchboxes!

  • Now see, THAT'S how to do a montage; Miami Vice had 4 seasons in the 80s to figure it out and never did get it right..

  • @jerico641 Only one period goes at the end of a sentence, genius.

  • Cold War thriller

  • This was a very cool program back in the day.

  • Thumbs up if you want them to make a reboot of this tv show, with a new cast and stuff.

  • My Mom and Dad's Favorite show! Met Martin Landau and Barbara Bain in Roxbury parks in Beverly hills once!! They were nice!!

  • If only a new M:I is made for tv... but with a damn good cast I don't care if the cast is from soap operas i'd watch it. The theme alone is what mde like the shows.. but to be honest I only knew about the shows from playing the game on the nes.

  • I esp. like the ones where they make there victims think that they are being haunted.

  • Cool ass fuckin hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Those bongos absolutely made this opening theme. Awesome!

  • These omnibus MI intros are possibly the best thing ever! The show could never quite live up to its hyper-adrenalized opening sequences, so here we get 4 minutes of those intros. Brilliant!

  • Very cool show from my childhood. Barbara Bain had sexy legs!

  • R.I.P. Greg Morris (Barney Collier) 1933-1996 and Peter Graves (Jim Phelps) 1926-2010. Thanks for all your work.

  • Another show I watched and loved as a kid.

  • Rest in peace, Mr. Graves. Thank you for all those memories.

  • lOVE IT AND THE VIDEO! COOL. WISH THEY WOULD SHOW IT ON TV LAND COOL! MY DAD'S FAVORITE SHOW RIP DAD AND MR.. GRAVES

  • Mr. Phelps... you will be missed.

  • Soyez en paix Mr. Graves, vous avez meublé l'imaginaire de ma jeunesse.

  • R.I.P,Mr. Phelps (Peter Graves 1926-2010).

  • Yes, cheers to the only true Mr. Phelps - who would NEVER betray the IMF the way that faker did in that stupid Tom Cruise movie years ago!

  • @lgsman112 How do we know that it wasnt Tom Cruise desguised as an Idot version of Mr.Phelps and he had his good friend (The guy who got killed in the elavator) dress up as him self and in the end TOM CRUISE was the one who died. and THEN elavator guy along with the REAL Mr.Phelps lived! Im just a kid so dont judge.

  • RIP PETER GRAVES !!!!

  • I wish some network would air this show. I really loved while growing up.

  • I love barbara bain in all of her three seasons of mission impossible

  • This is by the far the BEST version of the opening theme I've found on youtube...even the top 40 version on Dot records is no where near as slick as this one...

  • Need I even state the awesomeness?

  • Just one of the best shows of its time. Can't think of many contemporary shows that were as good. Star Trek does come to mind. Just good tv, which is totally lacking, today!

  • both shows produced by DESILU ..thanx Lucille Ball for the vision!

  • I think it was more Desi, than Lucy...

  • thank again....Desi had already sold out his share of DESILU to lucy by the time this show (and Star Trek) went into production...you might be thinking of The Untouchables , which was around desi s time (late 50s)

  • This has to be the coolest theme song ever written.

  • I watched all of the montages Mr Croco has put together.

For me, this was the most 'modern' of the 60s spy shows, even though some of the gadgets and mask makeup were really 'impossible'.

But every TV show requires some stretching of belief. And Mission:Impossible was more than just the hi-tech con game, it was filled with suspense and narrow escapes of them being detected.

  • les histoires de mission impossible sont tirées des missions des agents du Mossad!

  • Hey, STAR TREK TOS fans: notice Lt. D'Amato, chief geologist from "That Which Survives" in this montage?

  • Star Trek guest stars crossed over on Mission: Impossible very frequently. Both shows started in 1966 and we Desilu productions that were later acquired by Paramount. There were many actors who appeared in both shows.

  • @crocoboxer such as Leonard Nemoy

  • @crocoboxer I saw an episode on netflix with george mr sulu takei

  • Yes, poor ol tomato, and he didn't even wear a red shirt!

  • Why don't modern tv shows have great opening titles like this? HAWAI FIVE-0, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, STINGRAY, UFO, THUNDERBIRDS and MIAMI VICE have the best opening titles ever!

  • I agree, and would like to add "Space: 1999" to the shows with superb openings (not to mention starring Landau and Bain).

  • Good question although I'll point out that you can still find a few decent ones today: The Simpsons, Family Guy, and NCIS immediately spring to mind. (The CSI themes don't count since all are just edited down songs by The Who.) But it does seem that fewer and fewer modern shows even bother with themes songs. Maybe the studios don't want to spend the time and money in case the shows fail. Who knows?

  • Most excellent. The show was so good. nothing today is anything like this. also liked space 1999. and ww west. outer limits. i am so old.

  • Also good, but 1st one is best.

  • Season Three contained some of the best ever episodes of Mission: Impossible (THE EXCHANGE, THE MIND OF STEFAN MIKLOS) and some incredible performances from Martin Landau and Barbara Bain. The show was extremely well shot and directed, and never insulted the intelligence of the audience. You were expected to concentrate and piece things together, unlike today where shows like CSI repeat everything a gazillion times and Captain Exposition is always at hand to spell out every plot point.

  • mission impossible has got to be the coolest tv show ever. i love it how they get one enemy to kill the other enemy in the end. just got the 3rd tv season on amazon. great show man.

  • the great thing about mission impossible is that where other spy shows of the 60's went campy after a while Mission Impossible stayed intelligent and dramatic. The fact that they were an ensemble of spies was also unique for the time. The one thing about the movies with Tom Cruise that I did not like is that TC is such a big star that he could not subordinate himself to let his movie be about the other IMF members like the show did.

  • yeah. tom cruise wasn't a team like the force was. when you think of mission impossible the movies, you think of tom cruise, not like the show, you think of all of them, Barney, Willie, Cinnimon, Rollin, and Jim.

  • I just got into this series! It was brilliant... I have been watching them from Netflix.. They have all the seasons.

  • Quite frankly, I don't consider the movies to be in the spirit of Mission: Impossible. And WHY couldn't they have written the script so that Jim Phelps gave DISINFORMATION to the enemy, they find out about it, and the mission is to make them believe Jim's information is accurate -- but in the process he dies -- or something like that. But having him turn traitor? Did these people ever WATCH the series -- either of them?

  • I never watched them before...... until they threw that "Mission Impossible" marathon on tv last year, letting me see the real impossible missions. That's when I realized that the movies were total fakes.

  • I was all prepared to LIKE the movie(s) -- despite my feelings about Tom Cruise -- I was actually hoping this would give me a reason to like his work. Then I read that the late Greg Morris ACTUALLY WALKED OUT of the screening of the first movie. (Apparently, because he was so disgusted by what had been done to the franchise.) Sorry, but if you have members of the original cast making such strong statements, you start off with a negative, IMHO.

  • Just found out that after he walked out, during the same year, he died of BRAIN CANCER!!? Too coincidental?

  • @midknightryder13 All the original cast hated it. Tom Cruise turned what could've been a fantastic feature length adaptation of an iconic television series into a one man show featuring the biggest prick in Hollywood.

My hope is that when Cruise finally stops making Mission: Impossible movies someone with sense can come along and do a proper Mission: Impossible movie.

  • @MrLunitunz the movie takes away from the old series they shoulda just used the characters like phelps, briggs, cinnamon, rollin hand, barney and willie it woulda make a much better film i knew greg morris before he passed walked out of the movie and peter graves was dissapointed with the phelps character being a traitor to the imf i know part 4 is coming out next week and i have no plans to waste $10 on it!! I only saw part 2 and thought it was ok the old school show ftw

  • @retroguy1976 The movies didn't have to not have the original cast or characters to take away from the series, it took away from the series the second they cast Tom Cruise. And the thing is, these films get unreal praise. The series was an intelligent move away from the James Bond type of espionage, it was a good show and would've made an excellent movie if adapted to the screen as is. Instead they do the exact opposite of what the series set out to do and make an American Bond film. .

  • @MrLunitunz I so agree

  • @midknightryder13 Really OMG I can't believe this Tom Cruise has taken it to far. I bet Greg was most upset the fact that SPOILER( Jim Phelps is a traitor)SPOILER ENDED it just ruined the movie for me.

  • My favorite "doesn't have a clue" story: Apparently Martin Landau went to the opening and it was covered by, among others, MTV. Kennedy was covering the premiere and saw all the other reporters interviewing him. BUT SHE DIDN"T KNOW WHO HE WAS. So, she goes up to him and essentially asks, "So, why are you important enough to be invited to the premiere?"

Mr. L told her that when she found out he might talk to her -- otherwise... and he walked away. She didn't understand why.

  • No doubt at all you are a true experienced fan of this show, so is it possible to ever bring it back to the television? They've already brought back a few black and white ones.

  • BLACK AND WHITE ONES? There WERE no B&W episodes of M:I. The first episode was called "The Pilot", it guest starred Wally Cox, Steven Hill was playing Dan Briggs -- the team leader, Martin Landau was NOT in the opening credits and was listed as a "Guest Star/Special Appearance" in every episode he appeared in (which as I recall was all but one of them) -- they were ALL in color. Not too surprising considering they were produced at Desilu Studios for the first two seasons.

  • When I mentioned the B&W episodes I was talking about other old shows airing now, such as Perry Mason or the Adams Family.

  • If you mean re-runs of the original series -- the problem would be editing them so they could be run on cable with the current spot load. That would be difficult and still make the plotline 'followable' (if that's a word0. If you look at the eps in their uncut version, there is VERY LITTLE waste. And a LOT of the time is spent building the suspense WITHOUT dialogue -- something they don't do much of these days. Someone always has to be talking these days. As for a NEW series -- I don't know.

  • Good point about the original M:I -- so much story was told without dialogue, which was very unusual and demanded a lot of attention. To show the orig series on cable with a modern commercial load, they could time-compress and pitch-correct it, a common practice, but you'd be better off watching the series on DVD... I think all 7 seasons have been released now, and the ones I've seen (seasons 1-4) are uncut and they look and sound great.

  • He was such a great guy. So why did Phelps choose to kill his team members?

  • thanks for these montages, they are awesome!

  • estan de pelos tus videos

  • Sugar Ray Robinson...Lee Grant...great stuff!

  • is mission avail on dvd?

  • Yes, seasons 1-3 are out now on DVD.

  • Season 4 just came out.

  • ty crocoboxer!

  • Season 3 also had Barbara Bain in a riveting episode where her character Cinnamon Carter is captured and brainwashed by sadistic madmen and is programming as an assassin to terminated and killed the head of the IMF-Jim Phelps!!!

Barbara Bain had nerves of steel and beauty to boot in the time of bad guys and world conquest that is Mission:Impossible.

  • Uh not quite. They never got as far as to brainwash her to assassinate Jim Phelps. They didn't even find out what organization she worked for. The ep is called "The Exchange" and, if memory serves, is the one she won her Emmy for. But, you are correct about it being riveting.

  • If I remember this episode (and it's been YEARS ago since I saw it), she is accidentaly captured because a pigeon flies into her room and sets off an alarm. The mission is abandoned and a new plan is put into place to save her. The trick a government into releasing a terroist to them, they trick him into revealing his secret infomation to them, and then exchange him for Cinnamon. During the exchange, they try to gun her and Mr. Phelps down, but Mr. Phelps ( continued below)..

  • has a cape wrapped around them which is bullet proof. The bad guys make their escape across the border, but later will find out their "friend" has let the cat out of the bag about them.... which means the head terrorist life span is about done!!! Can you say, bullet between the eyes!!! The show was billiant!!!

  • Now speaking about Jim Phelps, it's hard to believe that in 1996 he killed 3 of his IMF's and that's why Ethan Hunt came in to kill him.

  • Barbara Bain was the coolest white woman on TV

    her control was unnerving

  • I agree...but I must also add Angie Dickinson into this.

  • good call, very believable.

what they need is a long cool dark woman in a black dress. writing the book right now.

  • I feel ya...you know who always gets me...Ashley Judd...I think she's pretty cool...and her acting is solid.

  • sorry, not familiar, Nichelle Nicholls ??

where would star trek have been without her.

  • LURVED her...but they didn't give my sistah ENOUGH material to work with.

Yes...the sistahs...hmm let's see...NOW...I think Kimberly Elise or Tasha Smith

  • which episode and how can you upload it?

  • That's the episode I uploaded on here a few months back!
