After 3 years of testing various linux distros on my lower ram computer (384) I installed this one when it came out. I've tried many LXDE versions but this is by far the best. I'm very happy with it and it is very fast! Everything works out of the box. The printer works without any work at all. The people at Mint really have a gem hear and they keep it updated nicely.
It's very well thought out and you can do anything with this OS.
can you give me more info on this please?? I have been looking to give up windows and use linux but have been doing deep root research but I would like to personally talk to someone how actuallly knows about it personally
I use Linux Mint Debian Edition with XFCE DE and I love it! Believe it or not, it's only using less than 150 megs of ram with a couple of heavy app-s launched, on my secondrary HP laptop with 1GB ram. And it's like the laptop got a second life. The OS just flies! Besides xfce is somewhat more userfriendly and easy to customize than lxde... Both are great DE-s whatsoever. Great video, thumbin' up! :)
I really enjoyed watching your video. I think this is a great operating system. I cannot think of any operating system that combines the style, elegance, simplicity, functionality, responsiveness, speed, and affordability that Linux Mint 11 LXDE offers. It is without a doubt a breath of fresh air. If you are bored with your current OS, give Linux Mint 11 LXDE a try.
I got bored and installed the Xfce desktop environment too. Works very well. I have the choice of logging into LDME and Xfce. The Xfce seems to use a little less CPU and RAM (not much less really).
I do love it! I have been using it on a cheap thinkpad x40 since this version on linux mint 11 was on beta... . clean, fast and functional, I do agree....
i tried it on my dell laptop, but i couldn't get k9 copy to work , instead i installed wine and tried Dvd shrink, no good, couldn't get permission to run the exe.
Love Linux Mint. Got Mint 11 LXDE on my netbook. Installed without any problems and everything worked - including the webcam. The webcam wouldn't work under Windows 7 until I found another driver for it (it was suppose to have the software already installed; well it did, but it still didn't work).
Windows 7 Stater doesn't even allow users to change wallpaper (need 3rd-party software!)
The best thing about Linux on a netbook is I don't waste resources having to have an anti-virus running.
@mousegeek Yup I agree with you and Linux Mint is so awesome its exactly what a windows user would want, clean, simple no bloatware and it works right out the tin.
I'm still running Linux Mint 10 LXDE. My version doesn't have the posh-looking software manager :) I suppose I could upgrade to Mint 11 LXDE but I'm in no rush because Mint 10 LXDE is working fine (plus I don't use my netbook very much; I'm using it to type this :)
One thing I hate about netbooks: the multi-gestures built into the mousepad. Really really annoying. So much in fact I use keyboard shortcuts to avoid the mousepad!

I used it and its the best linux distro i have seen!
it used only 150Mb on gnome!
But i had to abandon it because of incompatibility with ATI/AMD graphich cards.
the recomanded drivers had problems and drivers Amd site made my screen flicker very often.
It was mint11 and maybe they fix in next release but until than there is no way i could use it.

gonna install this bad boy to my parents old Pentium4 tomorrow. Ubuntu11 was too heavy and I want to see if this is even better than Xubuntu.
