  • 逆とったりかな?

  • One of the wins against Konishiki costed him the career. Beating big guys is dangerous.

Rare technician. He employs judo techniques in sumo very successfully.

I liked Tochiazuma as a good sumo technician. Today only Takanoyama is tried such style as Mainoumi, but he lacks his spirit.

  • I followed Mainoumi's whole career in Makuuchi. It is not an exaggeration to say that he was the best technician in sumo during his career, and had the best nage technique. He regularly defeated rikishi that were 100-150 lbs. heavier than himself. He had a winning record vs. Konishiki (7 to 4). He usually took a beating at the hands of the joi-jin because they knew how to keep him off the belt or else they could overpower him on the belt.

  • 信じられねえ相撲だな!

  • あれだけがっつり背後を取られても、でもまだ攻め落とせない、どうしようもないしぶとさがありましたねえ。

  • Bizarre win there.

  • Certainly great technique and balance, but that throw he tried in the beginning isn't one that's very common, especially with just one arm in sumo. And the stumble was just ridonkulous. Although looking at other matches he seems to like that throw a bit. And from his techniques I think some other small sumos could learn something from him. Chiyonofuji overpowered most, but this guy uses leverage to it's fullest.

That's Mainoumi who picked up the win by the way.
