  • La canzone piu' popolare di tutti i tempi. Tradotta in tutte le lingue del mondo.

The most popular song of all time.

  • Hi,grew up with this song, too young to understand all that it stood for then, but know now what it must have meant then.

  • The actual German is tough to translate into English and keep the meaning and music together. Also the Nazis were very upset with the antiwar undertone of the original poem.

Und sollte mir ein Leid gescheh'n,

Wer wird bei der Laterne steh'n,

    Mit dir, Lili Marleen!

I should die on the front who would stand by the lamppost with you?

So this version was force fed on Anderson and as propaganda.

  • the Nazis had Lale Anderson arrested for undermining troop moral. They gave her such a hard time that she attempted suicide.

  • @RossM3838: Well what do you expect of those CUNTS!?! Although this woman's voice isn't the best.... :-P Or even the language! I prefer it in German by Mimi Thoma!! :-P

  • She had to record this for the german propaganda machine and she didnt even try to translate the lyrics of the original.

  • She sang this on Radio Hamburg with Lord Haw-Haw ( William Joyce's} propaganda programmes in 1944 just after D-Day it was his signature tune -We used to listen to all his bull-----t

  • @candw87: Are you that old!? L.O.L!! :-P
