  • frank caliendo's impression of Bill Walton is hilarious it cracks me up everytime it da way he sez unbelievable its totally spot on n it makes me laugh so hard

  • LOL!!! It's Frank Caliendo!

  • Like Walton said the 3 point line with Men like Pistol Pete, Austin Carr , and others the NCAA Scoring records would be off the charts. But if the NCAA didn't outlaw the Dunk Big Lew aka Kareem would have easily dunked for 30 points a game. BUT taking the dunk out of the game probably helped Kareem more than being coached by Mr Wooden. SKY HOOK

  • AND HOW ABOUT THE PAAAAASSSSSSS....

  • 56 ppg...SHIT

  • The best ballhandler ever, one of the best shooters ever and never got a chance to play an a legitimate contender. If you didn't get a chance to see him live, you can't believe how great he was. Incomparable.

  • Pete Maravich was a 6 foot 5 point guard. He was Magic Johnson before Magic.

  • @jason60152 no, you cant compare pete to anyone. he was his own player

  • @tigerbait134 I can compare him to Jason Williams.

  • No question Bill Walton and Herman Munster are fam.

  • It is now impossible to watch any video of Bill Walton speaking without thinking of Frank Caliendo and Detlef Schrempf.

  • @NickODU2015 lol dude I burst out laughing when I think about it!

  • Unreal he woulda averaged 57 if had the 3 point line.

  • @sneak108 NCAA though, but yeah, he was 10-15 with the 3-point line, the last season

  • throw it down big man throw it down like if u had that game

  • Bill Walton and Bill Cosby could imitate the other one with no problem

  • UNBELIEVABLE

  • I can smell colors

  • lets just face it, haters gonna hate. but ther hate is not gonna change a thing. jealous dumbassess.

  • I could feel sounds!

  • i hate the he play for bad teams. if he played for a good team.

  • Comparing Pistol to Nash is kinda racist. His game was so much more than Nash's. Nash cold never score that way. To me, there's nobody like Pistol. He was a freak.

  • @slimmsayton Nash was a better playmaker...period. Pistol made easy passes look tough a lot of the time, which is fine he had his own flare. But Nash was the better passer, and a MUCH better shooter in terms of accuracy. Pistol made a lot tough shots, but he also made a ton of poor decisions. Nash is the better player, not by much, but he's better.

  • @boredfun91 Nash is a better play maker. Pistol was a MUCH better scorer. I don't know agree about Nash's shooting ability, but to each his own. I like Nash more, but I'd rather watch Pistol. But I think we can agree, their games are not mirror images of each other.

  • @slimmsayton Steve Nash is a top 30 player all time....Marevich is a top 15 ....not comparable.

  • @slimmsayton I agree with you, but how is that racist? I think they're both white. Is it because Nash is Canadian? I gave you a thumbs up anyway.

  • The Best

  • Pete was special. Hearing a legend like Bill Walton talk about him in this manner gives me the chills. Bill Walton! Amazing clip. Thanks.

  • If you can choose anyone to plug your book, it has to be bill walton!

  • HAS THERE EVER BEEN A PLAYER BETTER THAN DET-LEF SHREMPF?

  • He is in heaven now. He is a christian, and I just watched a movie about him and on the special features, he gives his testimony how he became a christian and it is just wonderful. he is indeed the greatest player of basketball of his time and possibly our time too.

  • they should put this guy in a movie

  • razor jordan was no gottdamned minister of defense either.give pete his credit.I mean just as a human being he beats most nba players today hands down, and before you answer back,i dont give a shit.

  • @lucky77st if he does, don't respond, I stupidly got sucked into his retarded argument. the kid doesn't listen to anything you say, just keeps repeating himself.

  • Comment removed

  • Bill Walton is the best person in the world. The best passing center. The most interesting man. He is the best.

  • bill walton is the biggest retard in the world..

  • @jasong1342 hahaha he's actually incredibly smart.

  • @rsohlich1 get out of his ass bud. Bill Walton need it to continue talking out of.

  • Has there EVER been a player better than Detlef Schrempf??!!

  • @AyyJMoney haha. i like Detlef

  • @AyyJMoney u mean other than chris mullen?

  • Frank Caliendo does him so good , now i see lol.

  • bill walton is THE MAN

  • damn, i gotta say Frank Caliendo was pretty spot on this...

  • Has there EVER been a player better than Detlef Schrempf?

  • "Luke, come to the dark side I am your father!!"

  • @ThePistons4life The Celtics are not the dark side. :(

  • Bill.....I couldn't agree with you more!!

  • Pistol Pete was flat out the best shooter alive.

I can't say he was the best player alive since being the best player requires a lot more than just shooting ability. But the points this guy could put up was unparalleled. 44 points per game is INSANITY.

  • Pistol Pete is easily better than Michael Jordan. The only difference is that MJ was on an amazing team that was meant to make Jordan look good and win. Pete was on an incredibly sucky team that couldn't do a thing to save their lives and Pete had to pick up all their slack and do all the scoring.

  • Comment removed

  • @razorsharpandonpoint there are other factors to take into account. pete was the first player to get a million dollar contract, and his teammates absolutely hated him. how can you expect ANYBODY to accomplish anything in a team sport when your own team was against you? not to mention he never had any kind of supporting cast. you can argue all day about who's the best individual in a team sport, but in the end it comes down to preference. in my mind? pete is GOAT, but everybody has their opinions

  • Comment removed

  • @razorsharpandonpoint jordan had shooters (kerr, kukoc), utility player (pippen), and then the rest just pure hustle and defense. not to mention an offense specifically for an all star player. pete had a bunch of goons who wouldn't even give him the ball back if he passed at the beginning of the play. if they needed a point, pete had to shoot, period. jordan would always have the ball, but could dump it off with confidence to an open teammate if pressure was too much, pete had no such luxury.

  • oh, not to mention there wasn't a 3 point line for a majority of his career (which he shot over 60% from). not trying to sway you, just saying it's preference, so it's an argument you can't win. I mean, shit, if you're going by stats, then its wilt chamberlain, if you're going by championships, is bill russell. get my point?

  • Comment removed

  • @razorsharpandonpoint dude, what the fuck are you talking about? seriously. did I say more championships = better player? no, but people use that excuse all the time to say one player is better than another so I included it. same thing with the stats. so I have no idea what point you were trying to get across. regardless you're not right about the greatest player because there is no right answer, dear god...

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @razorsharpandonpoint I'm not getting emotional that you think jordan is the best, I'm getting frustrated that you're so thick headed that you think it's a fact, when it's not. regardless, pistol is the best, I'm done talking to your dumbass

  • Comment removed

  • @razorsharpandonpoint learn how to write, I cant even read that shit because you use broken english HAHAHAHA is it possible to "leave" to read? get your dumb ass back in school. you said jordan was the greatest as a fact. which ITS NOT, you were using team accomplishments to support an individual honor, you're an idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @razorsharpandonpoint HAHAHAHAHHA I'm seriously doubting your ability to spell a single word correctly. like I give a fuck if you graduated? lol doesn't mean shit. STATS DONT PROVE SHIT, IF YOURE GOING BY STATS THEN WILT IS THE GREATEST, god damn you're an idiot. my point was the "greatest" is an opinion, never a fact, especially in a team sport. by your definition, wilt is the greatest, so go suck his dick instead, fuckin dumbass

  • Comment removed

  • @razorsharpandonpoint bud, I had a 4.0 and I only went for tests/exams and was stoned the entire time. no great accomplishment

  • Comment removed

  • @razorsharpandonpoint you brought it into the argument yourself? lol you got out the hood, good for you, you graduated, good for you. regardless, I'm not impressed, and I couldn't care less. and meet my standards? what the FUCK are you talking about? you're an insecure little boy that freud would've had an absolute field day with, lol I was nothing but respectful from the start, you're the idiot that went on the defensive like I was attacking you

  • what the fuck does Freud have to do with this .you called me a dumbass and thats respectful.. you started this bullshit because you misinterpreted what i was saying COMPLETELY..did i say your a dumbass b4 you start talking shit? hell no..what am i insecure about lmao you have been doing nothing but making assumption on who I am the whole time and calling me a "little boy" and im 24.where is this conversation going nowhere, this whole thing is funny though lol im done have a nice day its summer

  • @razorsharpandonpoint yeah, except you're completely wrong and thats why you removed all your comments HAHAHAHAHA, and freud would have a field day because of your blatant defense mechanisms to hide your insecurities. but agreed, its summer, fuck it, i'm over it, peace

  • Also, in regards to marketing under the Stern model of the NBA, it would have depended entirely on where he played. Some one was saying that the NBA was in its "hey-day" before Jordan arrived because of the MJ-Bird hype; that is not accurate. The two-team dynamic plateaued the league's gains and Stern saw potential in Jordan to put a new emphasis on the league as young and exciting (it's why draft coverage became more popular). Jordan made so much money for the NBA, hence "saved the NBA".

  • Maravich never won a championship. That is true. That is not entirely his fault; he never played for organizations that knew how to build a team around him either. And then the knee injury. It's impossible to say he wouldn't have had success with teams like the 80's Lakers or Sixers as there are too many variables (coaching, market, role players). Magic was a perfect fit for LA and that's what it comes down to: chemistry, timing, momentum, etc. Maravich is still one of the best but not the best.

  • 1:20.....nuff said

  • 57 pts per game college average/25 pt per game NBA average.

    All with a defective heart.

    Incomparable.

  • BY FAR THE GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYER OF ALL TIME....NOBODY TALKS ABOUT PETE, BUT IF YOU WATCH HIS GAMES, HE WAS PLAYING 1 ON FIVE....

NOT KOBE, NOR LEBRON, NOR JORDAN , NOR ANYBODY WAS PLAYING 1 ON FIVE...PETE HAD ZERO HELP ON HIS TEAMS...ALL THE ABOVE HAD ALL STARS ALL AROUND THEM FOR THE BULK OF THEIR CAREERS..

NOBODY WILL EVER, EVER, EVER EVEN GET CLOSE TO PETES RECORDS WITH A 3 POINT LINE....

THE REAL BASKETBALL MINDS (COACHES) KNOW WHO THE BEST IS....

    MARAVICH

  • @justcruzzinn That's a dumb comment. Pete was the greatest entertainer on the court but to say he's better then Jordan is stupid and uneducated. Pete never won nor did he make his teammates better like Jordan, Bird, Magic, and Dr.J did. Dr.J alone took nobody's too the 77 finals because he was great enough. Pete didn't have the winners intangibles the guys I listed nor did he play defense. John Wooden told Pete's dad he didn't play defense and wouldn't win because of it and he was right.

  • @keeohn PETE HAD NO TEAMMATES.....IF YOU PUT JORDAN ON PETES TEAMS AND PUT PETE ON JORDANS TEAMS, I DON'T THINK JORDAN WOULD HAVE ANY RINGS ON HIS FINGERS...BUT PETE WOULD HAVE SOME FOR SURE....

  • @justcruzzinn Jordan would've won with his teammates because he would have made them better. You still don't understand he was a defensive liability which automatically takes him out of the greatness conversation. Pete never won championships like jordan did at both college and NBA. If stats makes you great then Wilt Chamberlain would be the greatest because he averaged 50 points a game for an entire season in the NBA. He only won 1 title with those stats so he's overrated just like Pete is.

  • @keeohn

    disagree

.Jordan couldn't win squat until he got ALL STAR help..Pippen, Kerr, Rodman (best defensive player during his reign) and Horace Grant..that team most certainly would have won championships if you took jordan OFF that squad and put Pete in..As for Chamberlein, he had very little also to work with

Remember that if you rate "championships" as the measure for greatness, then where do your rank robert horry? he won more than one.. then Bill russell is the GOAT

  • @justcruzzinn Robert Horry was never the face of a franchise so he's out of the discussion because I'm not talking about role players. Jordan made Pippen obviously because tell me what Pippen did after Jordan retired. When Pippen was with Houston and Portland he was just another player which proves my point. Horace Grant and Steve Kerr were made by Jordan just look at what they did before and after Jordan retired. Dennis Rodman came in the 95-96 season and Jordan had already won 3 titles.

  • @keeohn pippen was old after bulls..Grant and Kerr were great with or without jordan..Grant went to Orlando after chicage and was still a dominant force..Jordan was great, but if Pete played in that era OR today without blowing out the knee, the NBA has never seen a "playmaker" like Pete...Jordan did NOT have those kind of "playmaking" skills...Dominant one -on one skills, but not "playmaker" skills. No one today or ever could handle or pass the ball like maravich. led NBA in scoring 3 times

  • @justcruzzinn First off you must be discussing his college career because he led the NBA in scoring 1 time. Then your Horace Grant was a dominant force is ridiculous because he was the 5th option on the magic with his whopping 12 ppg. Steve Kerr before Jordan averaged less then 4ppg and with Jordan was at 8 then after less then 4ppg again. Pippen left for Houston in the 98-99 season and was in his early 30's. Matter a fact when MJ retired in 93 Pippen didn't win shit while MJ was gone (94-95).

  • @keeohn

Maravich holds nearly every major NCAA scoring record, including most career points (3,667), highest career scoring average (44.2 ppg), most field goals made (1,387) and attempted (3,166), and most career 50-point games (28). And he accomplished all this without the benefit of the three-point basket, which wasn't introduced into the college game until the 1986-87 season.

DID JORDAN OR ANY PLAYER EVER ACHIEVE ANYTHING CLOSE TO THIS? NO

  • Stop with the stats because HE NEVER WON A TITLE. Kareem won 6 NBA titles and 3 NCAA titles, Walton won 2 NBA tiltes and 2 NCAA, MJ won 6 NBA and 1 NCAA as a freshman. Pete had numbers with no titles just admit it. Pete, Barkley, Malone, Miller, and Stockton are all great but when you talk about the greatest of all time they are not in the discussion because they didn't win. The NBA all time starting 5 was....

    C.. Kareem

    PF. Bird

    SF. Dr.J

    SG. Jordan

    PG. Magic

    This was Dave Sterns list.

  • @keeohn David Sterns updated list

    C.Tom Boerwinkle

    PF Mel Counts

    SF Steve Mix

    SG JR Rider

    PG Gilbert Arenas

This was David Sterns updated list in his 2010 book on the NBA.

  • @BobLemkeSuxDix Bullshit! Lol!

  • @keeohn I think the reason Pete never had any NCAA titles was because the championship system was different when he played college ball and LSU wasn't eligible somehow for tournament play. I think Wooden tried to recruit him but his Dad wouldn't allow it, if anything his Dad probably kept him from truly acheiving greatness in the college and pro ranks

  • @justcruzzinn MJ is not considered the basketball savior he is considered as the greatest. Next when MJ was drafted the NBA was already in its prime because of Magic, Bird, Dr.J, and Isiah. Now in Pete's time from 70-80 the NBA had a small following until Dr.J. It was Dr.J who brought the game back not Pete and that's a proven fact ask Magic, Bird, MJ, Gervin, Wilkins, etc. How could Pete be dominant in the 80's which was the toughest decade in basketball if he couldn't win in the 70's?

  • @keeohn

HE DIDN'T WIN BECAUSE HE HAD ZERO TEAMATES...HE WOULD HAVE DOMINATED ON ANY TEAM THAT HAD MAJOR INSIDE HELP AND A SECOND OPTION..

PETE WAS FIRST OPTION, SECOND OPTION AND THIRD OPTION....THE DEFENSES KNEW HE WAS THERE ONLY CONCERN SO HE WAS MAYTIMES TRIPLE TEAMED...CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT HE WOULD HAVE DONE ON A LAKERS TEAM? OR A BOSTON TEAM?

HE WOULD BE THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME IN MOST ALL POLLS WINNING MULTIPLE CHAMPIONSHIPS...HE NEVER HAD ANY HELP IN COLLEGE OR PROS..

  • @justcruzzinn You don't get my point. Dr.J in the 76-77 season led the sixers to the finals and turned scrubs into all stars like Doug Collins and World B Free. Stop blaming his teammates because it's Pete's fault he didn't make them better like true greats do. Pete had his chance and blew it from 70-75 when Kareem was the only dominant force in the game. If Pete was on the celtics they wouldn't have won because DJ was a better PG then Pete. Bird said DJ was the greatest teammate he ever had.

  • @keeohn You sir are a fucking MORON. Collins was no slouch in college NOR before Dr. J supposedly made him an all-star. Free was a scoring maven. FOH.

  • @TheEsquire212 Why wasn't doug an all star before Dr.J you fucking idiot? Why did Doug lose his job to Andrew Toney if he was so great? IGNORANT YOU ARE!

  • @justcruzzinn If Pete was on the Lakers they wouldn't have won either because Magic made Worthy better and he made Scott, Rambis, and Cooper as well. They all were overachievers with Magic and Pete made who a overachiever? Who has Pete ever made? If Scott, Rambis, and Cooper were teammates of Pete they wouldn't have the same production. The only 1 who was already great was Kareem and he was out injured in the finals when a 19 year old rookie named magic led the lakers to the title by himself.

  • @justcruzzinn Just to use your own statistics, 1387 for 3166 gives him a field goal percentage of 38%. That's not very good. Fact is, his coach at LSU was also his dad, Press Maravich. He took 37 shots a game. Of course he scored more points. His scoring led the team to a slightly over .500 record. He was flashy and entertaining and a great scorer. He did not however, make any of his teams a winner.

  • @emmettk Um, your math is way off, dude. 1387 for 3166 is 43.8%. That's really good for someone who shot the ball 38 times a game.(3166 in 83 games)

  • @smaug86 I see you're right- my math was incorrect there. Most college defenders were unable to contain him, but I vividly remember his pro days and I loved to watch him play- he was exciting. However, while he was a fantastic offensive player, he was a liability at the other end. He had lots of steals, but that was often at the expense of guarding his own man. I am not a detractor of Pete; he was great, I just think some of his supporters get a little carried away.

  • @justcruzzinn and... he did this in 3 years, as freshmen weren't allowed on the team.

  • @peckingfast yeah...pete was awesome....if he played today, he would have super STAR power endorsing Multiple products like lebron or Kobe, and he would be paid the biggest contract...he would be on ALL the highlights, and players would try to mimick his gameplay..you'd see kids all over the U.S. trying to emulate him by doing all his hours and hours long drills which made him the best playmaker and ballhandler in the history of basketball.....HE INVENTED SHOWTIME AND THE MAGIC TRICKS TODAY

  • @justcruzzinn MJ and Dr.J were the greatest playmakers that's why the NBA made them the face of its product. They didn't choose Pete because when he came to town he didn't bring as big a fan base as MJ or Dr.J. Scoring points and ball handling is not the only factors in basketball. I saw MJ beat the bad boy pistons then Larry Bird and the Celtics AND THEN BEAT MAGIC AND THE LAKERS in 1 playoff. I'm not trying to bash Pete because I actually like Pete but you value him too high.

  • @keeohn Pete came into the league in the early 70's and the NBA had almost no following AND they were competing against the ABA...Eventually they merged together...If MJ had played in the early 70's he would not be considered the basketball "savior" that he is today..If Pete had come into the league in the 80's like Jordan, he would be much more hailed as a basketball guru than he currently is...LOOK AT this:

THE GUY AVERAGED: "AVERAGED" 13 3-POINTER PER GAME! WHO MAKES THAT IN ONE GAME?

  • @keeohn ALSO, PETE MARAVICH AVERAGED OVER 45 POINTS PER GAME WITH NO 3 POINT SHOT...IT HAS BEE CALCULATED THAT OF ALL HIS AVERAGE SHOTS IN COLLEGE THAT HE ACTUALLY MADE 13 3POINTERS PER GAME FROM WHERE HIS SHOTS WERE TAKEN....NOT JORDAN, OR ANYONE IS EVEN CLOSE TO HIS AVERAGES IN COLLEGE AND PETE MADE 13 3 -POINTERS PER GAME..........THE BEST PERIOD

  • @justcruzzinn amen---and all with a defective heart. amazing.

  • I watched this because I wanted to compare and see how good Frank Caliendo's impersonation of Walton was. WOW! If you haven't seen it, check it out... spot on!

  • i wanna punch him in the face.

  • Thumbs up if you checked this out to compare frank caliendos impression to the real thing.

  • Either this guy is a liar or he has one of the most unique longterm/photographic memory of all time. LOL

  • @Zionsmom2010 I can vouch for some of the stuff Walton speaks about (80s wise) and he has a pretty concrete memory even today, because I've seen the shit happen that he recounts. I'd pay to listen to that guy tell stories from the 70s and early 80s before I could remember what I was watching (which was 1984).

  • I could smell colours!

  • @RyanHD1080 "Has there ever been a player better than Detlef Schrempf?" bahaha

  • @RyanHD1080 he never says that

  • @RyanHD1080 I can feel sounds.

  • he could have scored 57 pts it would have taken 50 shots too. Not taken anything away he was a scorer and as all great scores he thought about a shot even when he didn't have the ball. I think the first white player to be offered a job with the Harlem Globe Trotters. The dude slept with the basketball. Had his own hardwood court in HS at home if I remember an SI article from the 70's acuratley . Doesn't matter he was born to play BB

  • Has there every been a player better than Detlef Schrempf?

  • @myoeman lmfao

  • @myoeman I don't think so! the way he shoots from the outside is unbelievable!

  • walton and lou holtz are without reservation the two most disturbing people in society today

  • dennis didnt make HOF and bill walton did? overrated player.

  • how did bill make the hall of fame...???he was always hurt...he was not a star...

  • @darrylhaynes First of all, he won an MVP award. League MVPs are basically shoo-ins for the hall. Second, it's the basketball hall of fame, not just the NBA hall of fame. Bill had a tremendous college career.

  • he was over rated...

  • frank doesn sound anything like him

  • Is he actually better than Nash?

  • @ghiblix2 You're already saying tons by saying 'best college player of all time'. That's amazing.

  • His shooting range was anywhere on the floor!

  • I've got to read the book! Great post and love to watch Pete but there is one misleading statistic. The 3 point line was only in NBA during Pete's last year as a pro. In 43 games he only took 15 shots and made 10. I'll bet he picked his shots well and there is no way he would shoot 67% from the 3 point line for his career. His shooting % was much lower than that. Love Walton's enthusiasm.

  • No 3 pt rule when he played in college, AND if I recollect, freshman were not allowed to play. If that is the case, just how many points would he have accumulated during his college career.

  • @BIGKELL9614 add also that the regular season during that time is 10-12 games less.

  • That Was Terrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrible ... Frank Calideno Impression

  • Pistol would own anybody in HORSE!

  • white people can't play my ass. pete maravich rules.

  • What can be said of Bill Walton's enthusiasm when speaking; the guy has charisma, holds my attention, what a story teller. I really admire him.

  • @kimdayne

Me too, and I hate how people are always bagging on him.

  • a 6'5 steve nash? insane.

  • wow, espnews in th e old days

  • Ah, the old-school ESPNews set... Fond memories, good times...

  • I love how at the very end you can see Bill's face as he smiles in awe that Pete's circus shot went in...lol

  • not to take anything away from pete, i love the guy, but if they had the 3 pt line maybe the defense would've guarded him closer since before 22ft jumpshots were bad shots snce they didn't give you more pts.. but maybe I'm wrong since I was born in the 90's and didn't get the chance to see him play

  • lol I love bill walton, I might actually watch a few queens games next year just to hear him broadcast.. the funny thing about him is he'll just talk and talk and talk, I remember a long time ago they were during an over the phone interview with him and he just kept talking and would never shut up they ended up saying "well we gotta go bill" and then they started talking about the series in the broadcast booth and you could still hear bill over the line talking it was f'ing halarious.

  • Walton and Maravich are arguably the best college basketball players ever.

  • he could be a QVC pitchman...

  • Superior

  • people who say Bill Walton was never a good player dont know SHIT about basketball. if he could've stayed healthy, he would have been one of the top 10 players of all time. Walton is probably the only player ever to outplay Kareem Abdul Jabbar in a NBA playoff series

  • @djack0wns89 : true... but his feet were not just designed for professional basketball. a doc once told him after checking his feet and legs: you don't belong in this league, young man. so sad.

  • Pistol Pete made 66.7% from the parking lot. Nobody comes close.

  • if his teeth were any more fake i'd call him a halloween costume

  • gerardar68 Put your hand on your chest

    2. Say who you love 4 times

    3. Put your finger on your nose

    4. Say his/her age 4 times

    5. Copy and paste this to 4 other videos

    6. Tomorrow he/she will ask you out, say he/she loves you, or kiss you on cheeck

  • With the present 3 point rule Pistol Pete would have averaged "57" points per game for three years running.

Greatest player that ever lived....Bare none!

Forget Bird, Magic, Erving and Jordan.

    BTW: I'm a huge Celtic/Bird fan.

  • Comment removed

  • Christian Laetner was on the dream team as a college player. He hadn't even entered the NBA yet. Don't hate on the man.

  • Walton states that under today's rules Petre would have averaged a mere 57 points per game BUT if the three point line was on the floor Pete would have pulled up and shot nothing but threes and easily averaged 70 or more per game.

  • @Penult hell yeah he would

  • @Penult very good point

  • @Penult expect if there was a 3 point line he would of been defended differently

  • @Penult the ncaa added 10-12 more games in their regular season and still nobody can surpass his scoring record.

  • I also saw him on college. he took every shot for LSU ok 90% of the shots

  • a bit misleading 3 point shot started in 19790 1980 season- 1 year and Pete was really finished by that time

  • I saw Maravich play once. It was in a nearly-empty arena in the 70s, the Jazz against the KC-Omaha Kings in Omaha. He scored 31 effortless points in the first half, then vanished and only scored 4 in the 2nd. I think he got bored.

  • Until his bad injury, Pistol Pete was one of the best players in the NBA, and in my opinion he was the best college player ever- Google him and see his college stats! And Bill Walton is a hippie- he isnt racist at all. It's silly to even think he is that way!

  • For sure Bill Walton has all the films and video of his games. I believe that all players especially the great has their playing video collection.

Walton is not racist, he just have more white friends, like black palyers have more black friends. He did good comments on black players, you are the one who is racist.

  • haha..lol. My wife is Black. I guess I would be racist!

  • Geez under todays NCAA rules Maravich would have averaged 57 points a game over 3 years. Thats awesome.

  • i have to say...i think Bill Walton is all about White Pride. It seems he always gives the most respect to the white guys it seems. Larry Bird, Pete Maravich, Kevin Mchale , Steve Nash and so many more. when he talks about Black guys he just doesnt seem to get as pumped up for them as he does whites. Just my opinion not a fact....

  • I know it would seem that way but, Walton has been a huge Maravich fan all of his life. He's only a few years younger than Pistol and he's admired his play dating back to his younger days. One of Walton's son's even played (sparingly)at LSU

  • @bestlives look at the names you just mentioned. bird, mchale, maravich, nash.

we're talking 4 all time talents right there. walton is just an old guy, and he doesn't want people to forget about some of the talents that used to play in the league. don't ever think walton is biased to white players though, its mostly just old players, or fundamental players. my god, just listen to him drone on and on about tim duncan

  • to be honest....i have never heard him go on an on about Tim Duncan, although i have heard him Bash player slike Larry Johnson...who was a great player. And yet he talks so pumed up about even modern players like DIRK NOWITSKI, STEVE NASH, JASON KIDD like they are complete GODS. I think Walton was the most overrated palyer in the NBA EVER. And it still boggles me how he made NBA top 50 over Domique Wilkins who provided so much more entertainment in the 80's than anyone I know besides Jordan.

  • As for this point, Jason Kidd is part black, so he hardly fits your argument.

Did Dominique not make the top 50? If not, i agree with you; he should have.

This is hardly Walton's fault, though.

  • narsh, is not in the NBA! you sound like a child with that statement

  • Well, he played and won a championship with Bird and McHale.

Was, as he states in this video, a good friend of Maravich; not that he'd need to be to rhapsodise about a player that great.

Ask him who his favourite ever team-mate was and he'll tell you it was Maurice Lucas or, as he called him, luke; he named his son Luke after him.

Last time i checked, Maurice Lucas was black.

  • that is the dumbest argument i have heard...His name is Maurice not Luke...why didnt he name him Maurice if you wanna go that route, And Luke, from Luas, haha, OMG, wake up buddie that a bunch of poltical Bullshit...Hey I have a black friend named Doug Allan...I might name my kid, after him and call him Alex. LMFAO

  • Are you aware of the concept of a nickname?

This was his nickname; luke/luc from Lucas.

You should research the topic, if it means that much to you; you'll find i'm correct.

Anyway, that was only an example. one of many i could chose, of why your initial assertion is absurd.

  • blah, blah, is all you have. You sound less educated on the sport with each passing reply!
