  • I'm loving these highlights from Don Pasquale and L'elisir d'amore. thanks for sharing! I have been listening all day! I hadn't really taken the time to appreciate Donizetti having already been a Bellini and Rossini fanatic. thanks again!

  • thank you! I've been listening to this record a lot and it's been much easier to study than i thought! (i'm studying the whole Norina role).. please don't erase the video, or your account!! thanx!

  • oh gosh.. i have to study this piece for next wednesday!!!

  • C'est absolument superbe!!

  • I could listen to this all day long! It's simply impossible to sing this duet better than Popp and Weikl :) This THE Don Pasquale recording to have. Thanks for posting!

  • Yes, I agree completely :). I have several other recordings, including the rather fine account by Mei/Allen/Abbado and the classic Freni/Bruscantini/Muti, but neither is, in my opinion, as exciting/moving/enchanting as the Wallberg set :D.

  • the art you've add to these pieces is gorgeous... where did you find them LindoroRossini

  • Mostly through Google's picture search engine, at first I searched paintings based on their themes, but now I know my favorite painters and styles, thus my choices are easier made :).

  • thanx! feel free to post your favorite from don pasquale i am enjoying them! the baritone is wonderful such full! round sound lovely.

  • thanks for making all this available.

Query: I don't know donizetti and I'm trying to find what I think was a little cavatina by him, which was really simple and popular and I think had something like the phrase "perche, perche, ..non torna a me...(??)" I know it's a long shot. Any idea?

  • I can only think of "Com'e gentil", Ernesto serenade from this very same opera, I've uploaded it also, maybe that will be the one :)? Other than this possibility, no idea :D!

The video response to this video is actually a link to a rendition of "Com'e" :)!

  • that's it!thank you! lovely little piece araiza's great as usual

  • I REALLY love the conducting!!! It is so full of life and fresh air and, sorry for the cliche, but it really makes the music sparkle!! Are these available in CD format anywhere?

  • Yes, both recordings are available in CD. And, yes, the conducting is brilliant. Only after I listened to Wallberg's renditions did I understood fully how important is a good orchestra to belcanto. They often say that the singing makes or breaks a belcanto opera: well, what is a voice without a beautiful orchestral base? I especially like the section beginning at 9:22: I have never heard it sung or played more lively :)!

  • Scratch the "did" :)!
