I just recently stumbled across all these Mega Man videos on youtube...
Holy cow, do they bring back memories.
MM2 was always my favorite...and despite the simple "MIDI" files or whatever they used, the music kicks ass to this day...especially The Bubble Man and Metal Man tunes.
No disrespect to the poster, but I played this before turbo controllers and would never use one. I'd wear that button out until I got blisters. Nice post though, brings back memories of my childhood.
This video was recorded from the Mega Man Anniversary Collection (for PlayStation 2), which doesn't have the gameplay difficulty menu right from the title screen. Instead, the diffculty is set from the Gameplay Options menu from its Options screen (where players can actually control Mega Man, and he can enter different rooms for features, settings, and games).
Maybe its the fact that I grew up listening to it, but I honestly think the music of this game is some of the most wonderfully composed I know of, video game or not.
mega man 2 is a Standard, and yea nowadays Modern Warfare, Fallout 3 , Gears of War, Halo, Mass Effect , Read Dead Rev, Grand Theft Auto, Etc are Cool. MY point is this game Megaman 2 like Simon' Quest, Super Mario bros, Final Fantasy 2, Ninja Gaiden 2, Wizard & Warriors, The Legend of Zelda, Double Dragon 3 will never die. The new games Next Gen games are good some arent but, these Nes , Snes, Sega Classic, Dreamcast, will always be my Favorites really Ever! good post
This video was recorded from the Mega Man Anniversary Collection, which was released in 2004 (so it is a fairly new emulation of Mega Man 1-8, Mega Man: The Power Battle, and Mega Man: The Power Fighters).
Yes, in a sense. That's the rapid fire feature in the Mega Man Anniversary Collection, which is preformed by pressing the triangle button for the PlayStation 2 version (I believe it's the Y button on the Xbox and GameCube versions).
I'm aware of that, and there also was a plain turbo controller made for the NES, as well. I called it a feature for the Mega Man Anniversary Collection since it seemed to be an additional aspect from the original games (considering, in this case, that the standard NES controller was used for play); in this sense, the Navi Mode is also a feature for the compliation game.
Wow I have to disagree Southpawuppercut. I love this tune and I think it fits very well with this stage! This track could EASY be my favorite. Then again, I love every fucking theme on this game lol! This is one of my favorite NES games ever! :D
I think Woodmans muic :) classical. when i was youg i played this i got my nes from the loft and played it and by did the music bring memories thanks for music :)
yo dis song be jumpin off!!!! in my future wedding i want it played with synths, and at the post party we gonna break it down to tha crash man level jam, fo sho dey know
Exactly. I used to have a few spots in the game where I would keep shooting enemies to get back all my health and weapon energy, but also to get quite a few free guys.
I agree with megottabeblue... the music in this game kicks ass. I don't know if it's because the it was such a great game or what... but these tunes will be stuck in my head forever! lol
I always thought that the baseline on the stages on this game were pretty advanced....this one is my fave.....and my fave mm game....something funny is...i just beat mm1 about 2 months ago for the first time....anyone else think mm1 was hella hard?!?!?!
Yeah, it was. Never being a Mega Man fan, I decided I would start playing it to see how good it really was. So I tried Mega Man 1 at a friends house, and I couldn't even get to the ending bosses!
yea....i realized that MM1 didn't give out very many extra lives or power ups during the game play....i guess it was originally made for nerdy 'tensai' japanese players. (tensai means genius)
I have always liked this tune - it's beautiful, and it has a dreamy quality that matches the watery landscape perfectly. This is a nice little piece in the key of Eb major. The "dreamy" feel is due to the use of C and D notes to imply alternating major sixth and major sevenths (Eb6 to Ebmaj7). These given an "open" feel and a sense of tension and resolution. At 1:41, they throw in a G major chord, which comes from C harmonic minor. Then we switch to C minor, and back to Eb major. Nice!
Thanks! As you can probably tell, I'm a music theory nut, so if you want more tunes analyzed, shoot me a comment. For a little more Mega Man II stuff, here are some stages I've picked out.
Crash Man - F# major
Metal Man - Bb minor
Dr. Wily (1st and 2nd stages) - C# minor
Flash Man - Largely Eb minor, with 1 or 2 odd notes
Air Man's is a little tricky - it sounds like it's mainly Bb minor, but it's probably a mode of some sort, because I played Bb minor over it and it didn't sound quite right. The main line sounds like it has a few chromatic notes in it that are outside of the key. I'll have to sit down and try to pick it out a little closer. It could be the synth effect making the notes harder to pick out, because it sounds similar, but not quite identical to Metal Man, which I know is Bb minor.
Let me amend my previous comment. After careful listening, the alternating C and D notes here do imply a chord progression, but not Eb6 to Ebmaj7. While the C notes do imply an Eb6 chord (Eb G Bb C), the bass notes actually imply a Gmin7/D tonality, spelled as D G Bb F. However, a Gmin7 (G Bb D F) can be seen as an upper "extension" of an Ebmaj7 (Eb G Bb D), as three notes are shared between the two. In the context of the piece, though, Gmin7/D is the more appropriate choice.
lol man u kinda sukk but it's cool. most of these ppl on here nerds playin like robots. like the other dude said, at least u beat it...and the music classic.
Its amazing how some songs are just timeless. I've heard a lot of youtube remixes and it just doesn't capture the original midi feel. Well done Capcom. :D

I have more videos of the first two Mega Man gamed, which might show more than just simply beating the game. A great effort was put in to making each of my gameplay videos made up to close-as-possible perfection, for some part to help folks. I've shown these through the Mega Man Anniversary Collection on the easy setting to enhance uniqueness and to save time, as well, just as the descirption explains.
I have this game on NES not on anniversery collection. it's so cool
