Dude, thats like a pedal C, and it makes my ears bleed when I expect the next note to be an octave, and it starts out as a flat 9th, getting sharper and sharper.. Ouch..
The idea is that since he took a breath, he must of rearranged his embouchure, like tucked in his bottom lip a little bit, tightened his lips more and put the mouthpiece back on and pulled for better support to keep the lips close together to increase speed.
Love how you cracked the High D. Maybe, instead of squealing D above Doucle C (which, I admit is impressive, and no, I won't post a video of myself doing it) maybe you should work on slurring that, or maybe playing a High D cleanly. You know, the useful stuff.
Why all trumpeters high playing in youtube doesn't show pedal notes to double high c ALL IN LEGATO ? Its because all of them don't have a good FLEXIBILITY !
dude, i wish i could play that high! I've got a sweet pedal range though. Just so you know, i think it's easier to play pedal C#, C, and B with 1,2,3. I've never been able to play that pedal C open, I've always thought that 'slot' fell on the Bb below that really nicely. try it out!
generally, its the notes below low F#.. for instance, the C below "low C" is just pedal. the one below is "double pedal C" and so on.. i can hit the F below double pedal C. warming up in this register is really beneficial.
ME TOOOO!!!!! that triple pedal E just seems to be really hard to get!
Do you use a regular embouchure? I can play chromatically down to like a double pedal E with a real embouchure, but below that, I just use my lower lip, with my upper lip around the top of the mouthpiece. It's weird looking, but works really well. what do you do?
i actually use too much of my top lip when i play.. so when i go down that low my lower lip slips down too low.. i'd fix my embouchure but it isn't rele worth it for another 6 months of high school. but if you can keep your normal embouchure it'll be the most beneficial. a guy by the name of James Stamp made a book that has a bunch of helpful warm ups and exercises. i highly suggest it. especially i think exercise 3
sounds good, but when you reset your chops everytime you play a note it defeats the purpose of showing off how flexible your embouchure is. Practice slurring from pedal D to the D above double C.
There are not a lot of Double Ds written in lead charts, even. There ARE however a lot of Ds above High C. And you really nailed that one, square on the head. It was the best two ledger-line High D I've ever heard. I am so glad you put this on the internet. Do you have any concerts coming up? I'll fly to where you are to go to see you! You are so good, your high D rocks!!!!!!!!!
I'm not quite sure whether you were being serious or not, but he misjudges (could have been on purpose) the D and plays a C (i think) before correcting. But yes it was quite clear but have a listen if you can to the last note on incognito's song L'Arc En Ciel De Miles, the trumpet (could be playing a fluegel) player on it holds it so well and it sounds beautiful.
dude nice not easy ive made it there once and it was like not phat or loud it was just there bhut i was on a 3c and wadlbeisser dude its not BS thats not easy he flipped for double d to d sharp and hit double E for a sec nice dude keep it up
just do it. sit there and do it and maneuver and find out what works. May not be the smartest of ideas but hey, it's probably the only way its gonna happen. But keep this in mind. More air = louder. Faster air = higher.
wow man thanks for the comment on my vid your a talented player good job ive been playing for 8 years i think but i only started trying to play good 2 years ago so ive been playing for 2 years lol well if you arent marching junior corps come down to a bushwacker camp it will prove to be a fun time did you march crossmen or cadets? late
