You make very valid points. Sometimes we designers project our own desires with a project and forget that we are hired to problem-solve. The bottom line is that it is important to develop the skill of listening carefully to your clients.
Great points in this video! I often find that even the words I use when talking to non designers can confuse them. So I try to used words with the design terms to explain them. that way they learn what the design terms mean so if I forget t explain the terms next time they might not feel lost. e.g. this paragraph would look better without the widow and orphan, the lonely word on the last line.
