  • This guy used to teach me:) He is a legend. Nuff said.

  • ron is a genious

  • @guillotinedeath

At least Ron knows how to spell genius.

  • 1:37 this riff remind me the Wicker man by Iron Maiden.

  • @SEVENTHSON89 Actually the Wicker Man reminds me off Running Wild by Judas Priest. Great riff, but so often ripped off.

  • its better to hear watchtower without vocals :D

  • the god of metal technic ! i love this guys :P

  • My video driver crashed while watching this video...sweet.

  • great player...

  • go to his website ronjarzombek . com. he has a new project called Terrestrial Exiled and they released a new single 2 days ago. I bought and it it's the tits

  • And he's had Hand surgery twice. Maybe they put in some bionic shit... He isn't human, that's for sure.

  • Lucky enough to have him as my teacher. The one thing I like about San Antonio:)

  • @TheDragon2n where does he teach? i live there

  • @DietGrape He teaches at Lackland AFB. at the teen center there.

  • @TheDragon2n Dude are you serious? If so, that'd be another reason to join the Air Force, though if I went there strictly for basic training, I doubt I'd get an opportunity to meet him.

  • Phenomenal talent, a true artist.

  • that one guitar in the background looks like the album cover of Ink Complete

  • @aantiawp It's one of the guitars he built, he painted it to resemble the album cover.

  • I used to think I was a pretty good guitar player. Now I feel like a trashbag. Thanks

  • The fact that he built all his guitars himself and that he's had hand surgery twice makes this all the more bad ass. GOD HE'S TOO CLEAN! What I would give to play like that. I've taken a huge inspiration from RJ and a lot of my playing is based on this style of music.

  • Bobby's got a brother? Are you kidding? Lighting strikes twice in the same family!! Oooh Sh*t. I thought Eddy and Alex good.

  • @Madbass64 I could not say that better myself dude...LOL!

  • Both the jarzombek's are fucking masterminds of music.

  • Powerful downstrokes

  • Awesome!!!

  • whats the name of that song¡¡¡???...is very good...Ron Jarzombek you are a GOD.

  • You the man Ron.

  • What's the pont of the double guitar????

  • @lukesaboy It's Ron Jarzombek. He doesn't need a reason.

  • I was lucky enough to see WT once back then and I also never recovered! I was so blown away. So ahead of their time!!! them and VoiVod!

  • poopfuck

  • Very Interesting Guitar Shape,

  • what is the flash at 0:25??

  • @Pendulum666999 what are you some kind of half nigger?

  • @opiumtent pure white :L

  • he comes from the best city on earth, San Antonio

  • if stravinsky had a band, it surely would be watchtower.

  • I gotta ask Mrs. Jarzombek what she fed those boys of hers, because whatever it was, it clearly worked.

  • @SimonHenrichsen

Mrs. Jarzombek fed them time signatures and music theory soup.

  • That's some crazy assed tune! :O Must have been some brutal train wrecks?!? How does 1 remember so well? :S I try to map everything out for direction...gotta see it to believe it.

  • both him and his brother are fuckin mutants...

  • @BiorythmicDrifter

    LOL:)))

  • @BiorythmicDrifter

    LOL :)))

  • I reckon if you connected an ECG to this guys head whilst he was composing it would blow the machine. Its so hectic

  • it kinda sucks that I haven't discovered this guy to myself earlier

  • Polish last name, cool :)

  • The Jarzombeks hail from a distant solar system where children are exposed to strange types of radiation that make them music gods.

  • Anyone else know what he's counting around :20? I couldn't make head or tail of it.

  • Holy shit.

    Played in one piece!!!

    Sick,sick,sick...

  • Ron is an amazing guitarist , just needs to pull his butt out of the 80's guitar scene

  • @SaluPtolemi

    Nice.You cheked out alot Watchtower

    background information.

  • Awesome clip !

What album is this tune on?

  • If that guitar was me, I wouldn't stand this much awesomeness and break apart

  • a genius as ever, go on Ron!

  • Are they planing to release a new album or something like that?

  • I think they are, but it's been really messed up. Mathematics isn't going to be released as far as I know since Ron said there's some stuff that would date back to the 90s on that and just felt like it would feel outdated, and things like that...

  • @revilo111 Yes, they're working on 'Mathematics' as we speak. No release date yet. They're also co-headlining a festival in Germany next month.

  • I think Ron Jarzombek is a pretty cool guy.

  • He totally is. He's a badass guitarist, and his ideas are insane. But I admire that he has websites, dvds, and forums dedicated to teaching others about his specific approach to music. He is really my #1 inspiration and influence. So I agree: Ron Jarzombek is a pretty cool guy :]

  • typical watchtower, awesome!

  • This is Watchtower? Never heard this song before.

  • It's an unreleased WatchTower song that was slated for inclusion on 'Mathematics' but they've since dumped a lot of material and written new stuff so this may never see the light of day.

  • I hope it's released, because I'm obsessed with watchtower haha.

  • The band Watchtower, look at the wiki... :-)))

  • I def. know watchtower haha

  • What time is this in?

  • Its in multiple time signatures. Its very hard to count and I would need to hear the whole song.

  • Sick tune. I only listened to Blotted Science. Will check out watch tower now.

  • he sure played the hell out of that bottom guitar.

  • @viasevenvai There's only one guitar. You mean the neck?

  • Watchtower and Soilent Green are my favorite technical bands

  • My band, Maelstrom, had the opportunity to open for Watchtower back in the day when they came to NY .... i was SO blown away by what i saw and numb that I actually left my guitar at the club ... and RON was totally cool enough to make sure it got on their bus, touched base with me the next day and got it back to me at their next gig. amazing guy! what other act would do that for an opening band they would probably never see again? great great guy .. and amazing player! Thanks RON!

    Joey Lodes

  • GOD!!! :D

  • I freaking love all of his guitars, I wish some decent guitar company would make signatures. Maybe Hamer should do it. They'd do a decent job of it.

  • Fucking shit !

  • I can tell this guy is a very talented guitarist but is just not appealing at all

  • His stuff is usually better than this.. this song is very repetative

  • ok, enough already. i'll admit i had to have been trolling to stomp on a video and say "well this is ok but this is better" no matter how right i might have been, there was no reason for it. i forget that there is no "better" or "best" in the music industry as we all interpret music differently. so whose better? their both good in their own right, now just fucking enjoy the music or don't listen. i'll do the same.

  • He's so in the pocket, it's scary.

  • one of the most underrated guitarists ever.... blotted science rocks....spastic ink is also excellent

  • @prithamdsouza there both wank. metallica rules

  • @CalLumpyK Troll.

  • @42themeaningoflife but of course :P

  • Fast =/= good.

Ron Jarzombek is incredible. Listen to some of his blotted science stuff and you'd be surprised.

  • speed doesn't make a guitarist good.

  • have you actually listened to spastic ink oder blotted science? :D

  • What makes him a great guitarist? Isn't that obvious? I have NEVER seen anybody play like this.. the speed, the accuracy, the style, composition.. just everything.. and sorry but "hey "look at us lol we can play lolzzz" sounds more like "Jonas Brothers"...

  • You are an ignorant doofus - to put it mildly.

Nothing about Blotted Science is 'wank' - it is supremely thought out and composed technical metal where every note has its purpose. That is the exact opposite of wank.

And if someone needs to explain to you why Ron Jarzombek is great at what he does - you are clearly beyond help.

Do you also need an explanation why Michael Jordan, Beethoven, Bach, Shane Lane, Einstein, DaVinci, etc. were great?

  • what song does he play? :)

  • I just hate that everyone is just raging on each other over this... the idea that if people don't like this it means they are like musically retarded or something? ... its quite ridiculous. just listen to the music and chill -_-

  • People don't realize that his theory goes way beyond what he plays which is mostly chromatic stuff, and more based around rhythm and that's the scary part.

watch?v=b03pLneReTI&feature=PlayList&p=D816DF9A840BDB02&index=2 <---- the first song up to like 1:56 on this video is a good example.

  • Comment removed

  • funny you guys argue about Jarzombek and Friedman, Ron actually toured with Friedman a couple of years ago!!!

  • Amazing, i like jarzombek, too mach

what's the song and band's name ??? i need download this song !!!

    thanks !! gracias !!

  • Go watch the instructional video he did for the song "Oscillation Cycles", Instead of judging his entire playing style off of a random song by watchtower.

  • I did, so what? trying to say he can be complicated? fine, yeah he knows his guitar but his compositions aren't too impressive.

i was actually referring to the comments with people saying THIS video was amazing, which you have to admit just isn't. good, not amazing.

  • Actually, It is good, just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it all of a sudden has no value. It just means YOU don't like it. Nothing more.

  • Actually, i already said it was good, just not quite worthy of all the godlike praise he gets.

i'm just saying before people start offering their ass to him they should look around a bit first.

    Good, Not amazing.

  • Numbnuts, Ron is basic tracking a WatchTower song in this video that very likely won't even make the album.

Go listen to BLOTTED SCIENCE - 'The Machinations of Dementia' and then come back and talk.

  • Be careful not to suck on his cock too hard it might drop off.

you have no place talking as you obviously can't read or you'd know what a random fucknut you are.

just because you're sexually attracted to him doesn't mean every little thing he does is golden.

i've been to his website and looked around even checked out some of his tabs. i'm not impressed but if you like it listen to it, and stay the fuck away from me.

  • Hmmm, you seem to have an unnatural obsession involving penis and sex. Maybe you were molested as a kid and now you're an angry teenager who has to go on the internet to lash out. Have you tried to get help? Coz you really should.

  • your gay,

and that man is sexy. i dont even care. hes a good lookin fella. ha

  • Can I suck on your cock to hard so it will drop off?

  • composition and musicality supercedes guitar wanking and shredding. if jason becker "blows you away" then you must have a pretty boring music collection. you musn't know a great deal about musical theory if you dont find ron's composition impressive

  • "Cacophony > blotted science, it's kinda ridiculous to even compare them."

I agree. Only an idiot w/o an ounce of musical knowledge would compare the two. Blotted owns Cacophony. HARD! Becker & Friedman (who btw has admitted that Jarzombek's demos were an influence on Cacophony) are amazing players but the songwriting is nothing special (more like second rate Racer X) and pales in comparison to the compositional and technical masterpiece that is 'The Machinations of Dementia.'

  • I suspect your brain is a clusterfuck and thus incapable of absorbing all the information when exposed to Blotted Science.

Blotted is an aural feast for the senses and a testimony to what 3 extraordinarily skilled human beings are capable of.

Cacophony is 2 phenomenal guitar players playing run-of-the-mill heavy metal that hasn't aged terribly well.

  • Yeah, dumbass, you "can play all his shit pretty easy." No doubt. And I can't wait for your YouTube videos showing off your incredible guitar prowess.

Go back into your mom's basement and pray that Santa Claus brings you 'Guitar Hero Metallica' for X-mas. That's at least a start.

  • go on then, show us.

  • Lol

i am not even in this fight,

i checked both the bands out, and cacophony sounds like everyother band that can play progressions and scales, blotted science has actualy beat and poly rythms that are sick and have awsome structure,

all in all cacophony sounds like a slow malmsteen, no contest Blotted Science

  • sorry but i have to interject when u say not popular. everybody and thier mother ask for a guest guitar solo by em. obscura, odius mortem, just to name 2

  • Jason Becker blows Jarzombek away, yeah sure I'll wait for that day!

  • Jason Becker can´t play anymore

  • if jason somehow gets a cure for his disease that day will happen very quikly.

  • you're all talk, dude... talk and nothing else, the guys (like yourself) who just sit around being critics and acting like they know everything can't ever play; they don't practice they just sit around boasting about how much they think they know and how "great" they are. And funny, you guys never post videos of yourselves playing.

  • why are you talking to me? it's been 2 months since i commented on this matter.

anyways, knowing and playing Are 2 different things, incase you were not aware. and yeah, i know a bit seeing as i've researched and played.

just because i haven't posted a video of me dicking around doesn't mean i "can't play" and from what i read you seem to be more arrogant then i.

guitar has never been a passion of mine, but i've just grow up all round it. so if your ego boosting is done, you may fuck off now.

  • @proclaimin ...you're saying that my encouragement to shut up and just play is egotistical? Great argument, there, buddy.

  • haha good one, but no. you saying you "know" my life is egotistical.

don't remember that? "the guys, like yourself just sit and act like they think they know and can't ever play" how could you Ever know what i think or what i do?

you're quite an asshole, but still if you're never told you'll never learn. i would say i haven't posted because i don't have a camera ( which is true ) but there's more. now i have nothing more to say and if you do, it's all talk. peace.

  • hahaha hey, whatever you say man.

  • excactly why jason becker and marty friedman are equal if not better. this is mostly chromatic scales which has almost no compositon ( maybe a little composition) or musicality its just random notes. on a guitar if you hit evry single note 1 to 8 its a chromatic scale. but cacophony is all in scales (harmonic, pentatonic , and melodic minor) wich excedes this stuff in theory and musicality.

  • Look up 12 tones you idiot. Or listen to some Blotted Science, Ron Blows both of them away in terms of musical technicality, as well as technique and proficiency, just because you can't accept the fact that a relatively unknown guitarist is worlds ahead of your 'hero's' doesn't mean any of your arguments have any meaning or significance in reality.

There's also a reason why this is an unreleased Watchtower song, people talk highly of him not for this stuff, for Spastic Ink and solo work. Hurr.

  • i know what im talking about , 12 tones is the 12 notes of the chromatic scale , im saying 8 cuz most other scales have 8 notes in them. but its just random notes either way 8 or 12.

the purpose of 12 tones is to create music that avoids being in a key. atleast ron makes it sound a little bit better than most , but 12 tones is shit. i sure hope its unreleased too.

  • Wow, LISTEN TO BLOTTED SCIENCE. God damn you don't like to read do you?

I love how you bitch about an unreleased piece of material from a musician, and then base his entire career off of it because...

    1. You dislike it/don't understand it/don't have that taste in music, and...

    2. Because you're too afraid that if you actually watch his other works, you'll realize how wrong you were in the first place about his writing/playing.

  • i did listen to it its good , but im only talking about this stuff , theres no doubt in my mind he is good its just i think jason becker was prbly as good. maybe not marty. if jason wouldnt have lou gherigs disease , he would be better by now.

  • I understand where you're coming from in that context then, I personally have never been a HUGE Watchtower fan, more I have just respected their influence on metal in general, not so much a huge fan of their music on its own though. I'm more a fan of Ron's other stuff, and i guess that's what i was defending more so. This stuff is not his best work IMO, still worth checking out, but Still you'd be better off seeing his solo stuff/spastic ink for his more impressive compositions.

  • If you compare Ron to Jason 20 years ago when WatchTower and Cacophony had new albums out - they were about even technically speaking. Only what Ron was doing musically was a lot more intricate than the Cacophony stuff if you compare 'Control & Resistance' to 'Go Off'. Ron also had much more of a unique style/personality on guitar than Jason who was still doing a post-Yngwie neo-classical thing. But Jason was def. a guitar prodigy - it's truly sad his gift was taken away from him so early.

  • First of all, the chromatic scale consists of 12 semitones, not tones. Secondly, you can have a harmonic structure in chromatic playing, meaning that it isn't "just random notes" as there is a tonic and usually it has a counterpoint. Running up and down scales isn't the only way to do things, I mean, look at Allan Holdsworth.

  • I think i knew that considering in a harmonic scale your basically just skiping notes in 12 WITH a root note . BUT the purpose of 12 ''semitones'' is to stay out of key therefore how can it be harmonic?.

  • @JacksonShredder777 being in a key means that all the notes are relatively a major or minor scale. Ex: C major and its relative minor a, have all the same notes. The a harmonic minor scale and the chord to go with it, Am(maj7), have a g#. G# is not "in key" but its there to sound harmonic.

And on a scale note, most scales contain 7 tones however, are played to the octave.

  • fyi most scales have 7 notes per octave. very few have 8 but there are some

  • according to your profile you like bullet for my valentine, trivium, slipknot, avenged sevenfold etc.. as far as im concerned you don't get an opinion ;)

  • dunno why you got down voted for saying that but I thumbs upped haha considering this kids dumb as hell.

I'm a Becker Fan boy all the way, but the rhythmic and musical shit Jarzombek does is very intense and difficult.

  • i'm not a guitarist any more....!

  • Which album can I get this song?

...Or is it Spastic Ink ? Blotted Science?

  • lol torrents

  • This is a WatchTower song but it's unreleased. And it may stay that way. This is an old video and they've completely re-written the material for the album since this was taped. The new WatchTower disc is due in 2010.

  • Thank you for your comment!

  • Man this guy is nuts!

  • Hi, I'm unsure if 'Humanity And Its Discontents' is the name of this song, or if 'Humanity'' is just the album of origin (or whether I'm completely mistaken in both respects). Is there any chance that someone could shed a little light on this most terrible conundrum?=/

  • WOW,,that is "unplayable" hahahahah lol

  • haha, glad i'm not the only one who's mezmerized!! haha

  • I can't stop watching this

  • I wonder how long does it takes him to write all of this... Jesus!!

  • this makes me cry. is so romantic, i adore farts.

  • what?

  • im always looking at shitty guitar shred videos on youtube, however this guy is one of the most amazing, tasteful, skilled and musical metal guitar players ive ever seen

  • Holy fucking shit Ron is not human!

  • I'm not good at musical theory, but the stuff Ron plays is not your everyday riffs, timings and Scales. That's what makes him a Unique Guitar Player!

  • Its almost to in-time...... ROBOT time !!!

  • Ron looks alot like glenn tipton here

Great playing, nice to hear a pure dry tone too

  • when i listen to this guy its like wachin god

  • How dares anyone to compare Herman Li with Ron Jarzombek? They have different leves of musicianship -being Ron's way above Li's level. Not that I don't appreciate Li's dedication to guitar but he's a bit of a poser, I feel and compare to Ron, he's definetely way below his level -technically and composingly speaking! You know about guitars, and you'll agree with me

  • I listen to all styles of Metal (well almost, im not into the REALY light stuff) and to be honest even though ron is 20,00 times better then Li at guitar, i prefer Li's style of playing personaly( i know i cant spell lol)

  • honestly, why compare Ron to anyone, he's just insane good in his style. he has really original stuff that most people wouldn't dare write or play and that's why we love it!

  • Who said that Li was better than Jarzombek, cos they should be beaten severely!Im all about people having their own opinions but thats WAY too far.

  • Seriously. Ron fucking owns. Simple.

    Herman hits random notes.

Ron can shred and say what he just did, unlike Herman.

  • But who actually TRIED to compare Jarzombek to Li??

  • Somebody a few comments back. XD

  • You know funny thing is, he doesn't like being called a shredder lol, trust me, he is my music teacher/mentor.

  • Hey! He's mine too! I know me and my friends always want to watch him shred, he doesn't want too though :( But never the less he's fucking awesome.

  • Yup, at least he does his own thing though

  • Yeah, its fun when we get into theory, because we go crazy and make up some of the sickest shit lol. He's helping me with the band me and a friend are starting, and with some of the riffs I've come up with on my own. I prefer him over most guitarists because he doesn't focus on speed, like most guitarist.. And he's different, most guitarist would do a bunch of sweeps and say they're great, but not Ron lol.

  • Lol yeah, that's all Ron and I worked on before I had to leave theory and timing, that's all we pretty much did, I'm still his student though but my times are weird, lol. He's a pretty cool guy, went to the Yngwie Malmsteen concert with him, man he was so drunk, haha.

  • Haha that's funny. My mom bought him a huge bottle of alcohol for Christmas, I don't want to know what he did with it lol. I hope he goes to the Summer Slaughter, because I'm going :D Too bad he isn't a Moshpit kind of person, then again I could never see him being one.

  • Herman Li sucks balls compared to Ron. Sorry ManiacButton. If you listen to all of Rons stuff ( turn off Dragonforce for a little while and REALLY listen) You would see that Ron is a much better musician.
