I find it strange that nobody questions the Republican agenda of "winning the war".
I don't think anyone has defined what are the objectives required to be filled in order for the war to have been "won" - since permanent occupation and genocide of Iraqi people obviously are not options. (Not that the war effort isn't doing a good job at that all the time)
War is usually won when the opposing army is defeated and the government has been subdued to the will of the "winner". This is done.
@jdahlbom Yes but so the war was not in vain you must establish a government that just wont crumble the min you leave. Dems or rep dont want anyone to die or be over there to begin with. Saddam went through a lot of effort to create the evidence that he did have wmds. Now if you were president and you just got attacked by people who have been making threats I bet you would go to war too. Bush gave saddam 24 hours to turn himself in and be judged by his own country.
