If you're having trouble opening your .jar files(downloads as a .rar or .zip) make sure you are opening it with java. Right click the file, go to properties, click change next to "opens with" and change it to java or click browse and locate your java.exe

If you don't know where the java.exe is try C:/program files/java/jre6 or 7/bin/java.exe

@dunndub It needs to be a .jar not a .exe - make sure you have an updated version of java installed. Google "java download" and make sure you get it from the developers website.

@beargrylls2001 before logging into minecraft click on options and check "force update" start the game up and it will bring you to the current live version of the game. If you wish to not use the snapshot then you should be able to play. Otherwise I'm not sure I have a solution for you. Try googling your problem to see what others are saying. :\

If it has an option to use java do it If it's not there then you need to click "choose default program" click on browse and locate your java.exe file. - If you don't know where the java.exe is try C:/program files/java/jre6 or 7/bin/java.exe - the alternate solution to this is also located in the more info section of the video. Ok. I had problems at first because i didnt know how to make it .jar and when i did that it wasnt working. SO to start downlowd the minecraft.zip that he has in the description. Next unzip the file with bitzipper. Then look for the META-INF folder and then delete it. Next use bitzipper to turn it back into a .zip file and then use bitzipper again and turn it to a .jar file. It works

@Surge386 Go to your .minecraft folder and delete the folder named bin. Open Minecraft and before you login click on options then on force update. hit done and login. It should update and put you back at default everything. Start the tutorial over and follow each step.
