It's always a pleasure to see a kata done with simplicity & elegance. This Unsu is very nice. In the old days his Kohai would have all applauded or sighed loudly (or what ever it took) on the jump to try to squeeze extra points from the judges.
@blugublu This Unsu is far from alike the Unsu Michael Milon performed.
This kata has no:
- Fancy breathing-noices.
- Overexaggerated movements.
- Shortcuts from the start of a technique to the end.
- Long breaks.
- Techniques where hip-movement doesn't exist. (E.g. His neko-ashi-dachi in the start, and the way he turns the hips in a parallell movement to his foot)
Karate is a waste of time to learn, because when you see them fight, all you see is kicking and punching. All the fancy moves they do in the kata is not used. You might as well learn boxing for your arms, and ballet for your legs, because that's all we see when we see karate students, and their teachers fight in competition. Bottom line, if you what to fight like a karate master, then go to ballet classes and buy a punch bag, that way you will not waste your time on useless kata. AMEN.......
Karate ka training is base on accuracy, speed and power! Karate focus on attacking the vital point on the body. Unlike other martial such as kick boxing and boxing, karate focus on attack the weak point on the body such that the fight will be efficient and quick!
Very good performance. The only drawback is that the two gidan pinches where slower than the tempo of the first four giaku tsukis, so he need to work on that, but generally very well done.
OMG!!! That was the first time i hav seen this kata when no1 goes crazy for the jump. Very clever audience. I hate it when all they are waiting for is that jump cause it puts pressure on the competitor.
