  • I like ur style of playing

  • love the tone! I have a question about the P-rail and the Triple Shot Switch. Does the Triple Shot Switch act as a 3-way switch giving you access to the individual Rail and P90 coil along with the humbucker?

  • ha I was about to do the exact same to my 51

  • Couple things man - try working on your palm muting, al ot of your rytthym sounds like a folk guitar player.. and that amp is letting you down, and it sounds NOTHING like the amp its trying to emulate. it accents all the nasty frequencies and misses the stuff that makes an EL84 amp sound so good.

  • @vibroluxor hey, thanks for the tips!

  • Hey I just put one of these in my strat, check out my video.

  • how hard is it to switch the switches on the triple shots

  • @nymetsrock it's no big deal - very easy to get used to

  • u suck cock!

  • @vinskafan that's it XD

  • Dude, what amp are you using in this demo?

  • @umba9 I'm playing through the VOX AD15VT in this demo, set to the "UK 70's" model

  • Keep it simple stupid might be a good idea I just ordered 2 of these triple shot switches to use with 2 humbuckers. then I started thinking I could use a 5 way switch to have position 1 neck only 2 neck and bridge series 3 neck and bridge parallel 4 neck and bridge out of phase 5 bridge only the wiring would look like 2 single coils going to the control cavity I don't have a clue how to do this but just think of the options triple shot adds 4 diff way for each switch position ahh!
  • Lol on the jackson

  • @FendATele ya the p90 is a nice feature on this pickup, its just a great sound all around. Its great now that I have it.

  • wicked setup dude sounds just explosive some very hard to tell between settings but think thats down to youtube audio but hey love the warm crunchy twang tones

  • How does the humbucker sound? Does it live up to the fullness of a real full humbucker or does it fall short?

  • @itsGoboboy The series humbucker sounds kind of closed and tight - but I have 250K pots in the guitar that take away a lot of the treble. Parallel humbucker sounds thinner than a normal humbucker - I use it for Brian May type sounds. Under gain, the series humbucker really rips, though. It sounds excellent and tight. I don't play under a lot of gain usually, but I can say that the series humbucker sounds great for rock tones.

  • @HotSEXJ Hey thanks, I was thinking about putting this on my strat, so I would have 250k pots too. And thats something that I was concerned about. Iam wondering if I should upgrade to 500k but the 250 did work for you.

  • does the triple shot switching ring work on any humbucker?

  • @llamainalavalamp It does. Any 4 conducter humbucker can benefit from the easy and stealthy switching options of the Triple Shot. Check out the product page, all the good info is there.

  • This seems like a good idea for a recording guitar where you might want to tweak tweak tweak your tone. But I think I would get really upset with the options. I even think a strat has to many options. Give me a good bridge tone, a good neck tone, and a great 2/4 strat position sound or tele rw/rp middle position sound... and I am happy as a clam. But it was nice to see someone demo the tripleshot. So, thumbs up!

  • Since this video was shot, I have removed the P-Rails / Triple Shot from this guitar, and reinstalled the GFS Mean 90. Now I have 5 sounds. The guitar was neat-o in a "gee whiz" kind of a way with tte P-Rails / Triple Shot, but it really sounded best with the Mean 90.

  • Hi.. this P-rails are more bass or treble? My telecaster is very bass (cedar body) and I looking for one pickup more treble, vintage sound. Do you recommended this pickup?

  • I find it to be pretty bassy - if you are looking for a pickup with a lot of treble, I think you should look for a different pickup

  • im looking at getting a triple shot mounting coil for my les paul junior, i have the jb humbucker fitted. would it work ??????

  • Well, with a regular humbucker (i.e. not a P-Rails, which is a bit of an odd creature), a Triple Shot will get you series, parallel and split wirings, but ONLY if your humbucker is a 4-conductor pickup. If it's a 4 conductor pickup, it'll have black, white, red, and green wires. If it's not 4 conductor, the Triple Shot isn't for you.

If your JB is 4 conductor, you will be able to get a lot of great sounds out of it with a Triple Shot!

Head over to the Seymour Duncan Forum for more info

  • Don't the buttons come in the way sometimes, when you do palm mute for example?

  • No, not at all --- I wondered about this, too - but Seymour Duncan did a really trick job of recessing the switches. You can kind of see what I mean on the picture of the Triple Shot on their website.

  • Hey HotSEXJ, great demo. I am doing the EXACT same thing to an Epi Les Paul Custom, except a PAF Humbucker in the neck (and 2 volume/2 tone pots). Did you wire this yourself? In any case, do you know how the wiring goes? Was there anything "unusual" you had to do to get all these combos or is it just the P-rails to the triple shot and the neck to the push/pull for coil splitting? Any help would be great, and a wiring diagram link would be even better. Thanks for any input and a cool demo.

  • I did wire it myself, and I got a lot of help from the gang over at the Seymour Duncan forum. If you are a member, PM me over there --- if not, register, then PM me! I can send you all the wiring diagrams I used for this guitar. My handle over there is "ImmortalSix"

  • Awesome. I'm already registered there. I think I asked, too, but only got 1 reply, and that was "just get a triple shot and a push/pull, easy"... which may be the case, but I thought there might be a little more to the wiring. Maybe not... I'll send you a PM over there. My handle is "SBLP" . Thanks again.

  • hey man listen - nobody likes to stare at the bottom end of a 51 and a guys crotch for 7 minutes X { ha ha

  • You should see my face --- not much better!

  • I thought the neck (the first thing you showed) sounded fairly acoustic. Nice work! Can't wait for my triple shot to come in!

  • It's nice and woody with just the Little '59 --- not muddy as one could expect. I really like that pickup! And, of course, thank you!

  • putting that bridge pickup in the neck is genius, i've never seen that before - does it sound just like a neck humbucker?

  • It's actually a neck model Little '59 (SL59-n).

It doesn't sound exactly like a neck humbucker, though; it sounds a little bit thinner than a full=on humbucker.

  • Hmmm, nice hanging strap ;)

    ~Markk

  • heh. neckless Jackson...

  • Lots of really cool tones, though a couple positions are subtle changes. That axe alone should be able to get you through ANY kind of (non-acoustic) gig!!

Way to own the coolest Squier '51 ever!

  • Thanks! The switches are subtle, but obviously more evident when you're in the room with it. I do think I could make it my only guitar at a gig, which was kind of the goal for it.

  • Awesome job dude! Sounds really good. Impressive to see how that squier of yours has evolved. Congrats.

  • Thanks man --- I am so glad I modded it

  • sounds great!

  • Thanks!

  • sounds coo;! Was that wiring a lot of work, or pretty simple? Sounds really good....some changes don't sound hugely different. good job.

    -dave

  • The wiring was remarkably simple. After you hook the pickup to the Triple Shot (red to red, black to black, etc., very simple), all you have coming off the Triple Shot is hot and ground. It was so simple it felt like cheating. Thanks!
