Hello, I tried to do this. It was all ok till the moment before the creation of the clip. I can't see any midi notes it's just an empty clip. Can you help me please?
@AudioRunnerTV actually nevermind, i've figured that out but as it turns out, i've hit another roadblock, In the second box in midi from, i only see post fx and pre fx as an option, and i really cant find a way to get it to recognise maschine. =( would really appreciate an answer on this bro!
@AudioRunnerTV great tutorial, but i have live 8, and i cant see the options to configure the midi from. I just have a blank box underneath the midi clips and above the mixer area?
When I go to click on the kit name, the "Sound MIDI Batch Setup" option is not available. It just says "Open, Save As, Copy, Reset" Why is this happening??
hey I got a question, I tried this in Ableton but I don't have the VST folder? Does this work eventhough I only have the AU folder? The problem for me is that I don't want Maschine to play ALL the time, I want to use Maschine for my productions, for the beat only, so I want to get this out in the arrangement view together with synths like sylenth1, massive, zebra2, vanguard, kontakt 5 yeah you name it. But as soon as I start playing, Maschine will continue looping, even over the break. Help?!
And also, I only get the "post FX" and "Pre FX" and not Maschine as an option in the second list where "All Channels" usually are. What do I do wrong?
@sk1tzan that's because you have inserted Maschine as a AU, not as a VST. Insert it to midi track one as a VST, and your midi track 2 will give the Maschine option.
@sk1tzan This is a good way to do it, but there is a better way. Using the export midi / export audio to track function will work much better. This function allows for you to edit the drum track within your DAW instead of trying to program it in Maschine. I can do a quick video tutorial on this if you would like. Just let me know. -Gerritt
@AudioRunnerTV I'd really love that! You're so kind man! great tutorials btw. Much creds!
One thing that I wonder though is this: why use maschine if you use it in Ableton's sequencer instead then? isn't Maschine a drum maschine? I mean, for me, Maschine has no function then hehe :P or am I wrong? I'm kinda confused by this! haha. Anyways, those tutorials would be awsome to see mate!! cheers alot!
@sk1tzan Word. I love sequencing patterns and scenes from the maschine hardware. This method makes the Maschine an over priced MPD. I need a way to record or automate pattern changes from ableton.
@AudioRunnerTV This setup works perfectly for me, thanks a lot. one question though: say I already have made a sequence in the Maschine software (vat or standalone) , and I want to use this sequence in ableton. Is there a way to just copy the sequence into ableton (like you seem to do at 2.10min), or do I have to manually recreate the machine sequence in ableton (as I do now).
Notes are not being imported even on your file midi template.. VST is on, Maschine I did the Sound MIDI Batch Setup , I'm using the VST version and everything is routed to maschine (1midiclip where maschine is on), in Track 2 when I press on record no MIDI notes are imported.
hello, i use ableton and maschine together like this but my problem is:
all my midi is exported to ableton, so i have diffrent channels for each group of maschine in ableton. then i want to make a new pattern in c (maschine) on the fly so i let channel a and b playing in ableton. then when i press record in maschine he records my channel a and b in a new pattern again. how can i stop this?
Can i use different Groups via different Midi Channel - Like Midi to Maschine 1 (Midi1), Midi to: Maschine 2 (Midi2) and so long - Do u know what i mean? Chhers
@frankmeessen I think I know what you mean. You should be able to control different midi channels of maschine by changing from Midi1 to Midi2 and so on by selecting it in the Ableton channel. Since I did this video, NI came out with a newer version that allows plugins within the Maschine software. This makes it so much more flexible and almost eliminates this way of doing it, but I think the software still has a ways to go. It's nice to sequence in Ableton though! :-) Hope that helps.
@ace101guy Go to "Sound MIDI Batch Setup" and make sure you have "Sounds to MIDI Notes" selected. Make sure you are using the VST version of the plug-in and not the AU version. Make sure you are recording MIDI into the new MIDI tracks and not into the Channel that MASCHINE is on. If you need some more in-depth help and maybe a new video on it, please feel free to send me a message and I'll be glad to help out in any way I can. -Gerritt

Thanks for the great tutorial. I am having one problem that I have seen a few others mention in other forums that I haven't seen an answer to that I was hoping someone here might know a solultion to:
In the second MIDI track in the drop down menu that has the Pre FX and Post FX where you select Maschine, mine does not have Maschine in there. I can select maschine everywhere else. I have followed all other instructions to a T, but still can't get this to work. Any ideas?
@discgolfoverstock Make sure you name your channel that the plugin is on "Maschine 1" in order to see it in the drop-down menu. You can do this by clicking "Command" + "R" on the Mac or Right-Click and select "Rename" on P.C. Then complete the following steps:
@Ellinida2014 If you go to the Preferences menu in Ableton Live, then click on the "File/Folder" tab and make sure that "Use VST Plug-in System Folders" is on. You may also need to click on "Rescan" it is already checked. -Gerritt
@TheRanfles I don't know a way that you can do this other than using an new midi track with Maschine loaded again. The more I work with Maschine, the more I find it very useful to sequence in the plugin and then use the drag and drop audio/midi feature handy. I'll try and see what I can find out, but I don't know of a way to have 8 instances of Maschine all within the same single midi channel.
i want a midi controller for BIG live sets, triggering lots of clips in live, of course the apc is perfect put i want big, chunky pads, i've got an mpd24 but my sets are getting to big for it, can u use this to like scroll(like the apc) in any way?
@Zkrudriverz You can use pretty much any midi controller on the market and customize it to control ableton live in many ways. The MPD is totally capable of handling this. I'll try and throw together a quick tutorial on how to do this and if you need instructions a.s.a.p., please shoot me a message and I would be glad to help. -Gerritt
@AudioRunnerTV i downloaded a remote script so i can scroll down and sideways using the transport buttons(y) :) but if u know other ways that could be useful im really interested!
@1980citizen At this moment, there isn't a way for them to show up on the Ableton midi channel. Hopefully they will integrate something like this in a future version of Ableton.
@KTOProductions Glad I could help. I was frustrated trying to figure this out myself and I'm glad to help out my fellow producer friends and community anyway I can. :-) -Gerritt
Hey, I have a question for you. What if I am using groups A, B, and C on my Maschine, and I want each group's to Midi to be recorded into separate tracks on Ableton so that I could trigger different scenes of each of my groups as scenes in Ableton? Is there a way to do that? Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks.
@mymailplease This would be an area where using the Maschine plugin for sequencing would be a better solution. I still haven't found a way to trigger all the different groups by using the method in this video, but it was more of an alternative for simple sequencing within Ableton.

@MigoiMusic You actually wouldn't be able to use the 8 groups on the Maschine plugin. It's more of an alternative, but not exactly the best solution for everyone. I actually find it better to work within the plugin and their groups, but I wanted to find another way to work within Ableton as well.
@yourprovider1 It's a good question. I find that it's great to be able to work both ways. The advantage to this routing is that you can trigger different drum sequences while working in the Ableton Live arrange window.
