BC Street, I remember it like it was yesterday. I was on the rock from December 1978 to May 1979 and loved every minute of it. The purple haze was the shit at Abbey Road's
I was there 2007-2009. Some guy has a video of BC street from '87, it's funny, someone says "i was there 2001 and it looks the same" well i was there recently and still looked like it did in that 87 video.
I was stationed at Okinawa for one year 1980-81 with 3rd RECON Bn. During that time RECON had its own little base at Onna Point which was on the west side of the island. About 1-2 years later I heard RECON was relocated to Camp Schwab. I had been to BC Street in Koza a few times....I always remember those Japanese bar managers standing out in the stree in front of their bars yelling: "SHOW SHOW SHOW SHOW..." trying to persuade all the Marines and other military guys into thier bar....funny.
@DuneWest i to was on "oki" in 79-80 , i remember i found a friend of mine in kuwee hospital (forgive my spelling) for saying in a bar "recon" ain't shit, that was his last memory of that night, i remember Onna Point, nothing but Jungle vegitation, i remember the snakes, and tree spiders, getting back to BC Street, what a memory, the activity, the smells of food, the people , the parties, Semper FI
@DuneWest i also ment to ask how many ,"purple haze No 3's " did you drink, between bc street and gate 2 street, stop laughing, i know you drank as many as i did Leatherneck

how is bc street today i was in okinawa in 1990 and it wasnt too bad just a couple of philiphina bars and the bar that had the banana show. everything else was clothing stores cd stores, resturants,retail stores.
Gate 2 and BC street was lots of fun in the 70's. Ask and you shall receive. Thats all I am gonna say.
