Balconi, countertenor, has improved so much in the last five years, that it's amazing. I first heard him in 1993 in a minor cast role in which he sang moderatelly well. It was in Gardiner's 1993 production of L'Incoronazione di Poppea. Since then he has developed a richness and evenness to his voice that places him at the top of the heap!!!
