The sequel for Sega CD pretty much makes this version seem tame in terms of violence. I love EC: Challenge From the Dark Side. The first game's alright though.
Man, Midknight's Mesmerize was a real pisser. I'd always mash the hell out of my buttons everytime he zapped me with it, even though it did absolutely nothing to stop my fighter from helplessly walking up to Midknight and getting hammered. O.o
Also, despite her being Japanese, Shadow looks better as a redhead. :-)
Haha if I remember correctly, since he lost to Shadowcat there, he has to go all the way back to Xavier. I loved this game and hated it for its difficulty. They could easily make a bad ass movie out of this storyline.
This really was an awesome game. I loved playing as Rax. I remember at one time, I was fighting Shadow, and I waited for a moment to think about what to do, and she said, "Cow-ard." And my cousin was like, "Oh, man! She just called you a coward! KILL HER!" Lol. To be a kid and amazed by genesis again. The good ol' days.
A wonderful game back then. I believe it was more violent than mortal kombat, and I feel was more serious generally. A very good scenario (I liked the whole bring back to life to save everyone concept) Dark, harsh, strong, the characters were all magnificent, especially with all their back stories explaining why they died and why would they have saved the world should they relive, exotic stages and beautiful music (midi but still it was a genesis game :P)
There's a cheap way you can beat Shadow, because she is seriously so cheap controlled by the AI so perhaps its even :P. Anyway turtle on the other side of the level (let her call you a coward as much she wants), block whatever rubbish she throws at you, when she uses her teleport move, wait a bit and jump and she will appear right behind you, attack her then.

I was a Xavier Pendragon player myself. This brings back memories. Totally underrated imo.
