In my personal opinion (so no one take offense) the artic looks cooler and isn't that what it's all about, i mean you can't show your friends the burning power without buying goggles for each one of them or showing them a video. A laser that looks cooler and can be upgraded easily seems better to me ;)
@Anthony101caps What the hell is the benefit of the Arctic being bigger? If people are stupid enough to want something bigger, then the company can just add a thicker metal casing... The entire reason someone gets a handheld laser is because it's LIGHTER and SMALLER...
@GPNYishai its ok calm down, people like you shouldnt own a laser anyway.,,,But people like me should know NOT to respond to people like you,,,clmt rasta 619
@johnarcheus Well, if you were smart, you would have read the video description and annotations before you commented. Also, there are a number of videos on YouTube where others are getting the same result, and some that aren't. I'm not handholding you for the reasons why. Do your own research. Lastly, it's most commonly spelled LASER, not LAZER, genius.
@MrDylandude19 I'd go with the Arctic (if you can get one). You can get accessory lenses, focus the internal lens to increase performance. Can't do that with the Spartan. So out of the box, the Arctic lagged in this test, but it's performance can be enhanced easily. Only problem is if you order one, will you get from Wicked it in a timely manner. They were way behind in fulfilling orders for a looooooong time.
Wish you had put a commentary on this video for those of use that are new to these products, like which product is which, power details, what to expect from battery life, potential uses etc etc shame it was a wasted opportunity
@FunnyBoysFilms This isn't a video for those who are new. There are plenty of other videos and Google for that. As for which product is which, I clearly identify the winner with an annotation. Power details are also given at 1 watt each. As for your other requests, you're barking up the wrong tree (Potential uses??? Seriously??? You are WAY too new to be viewing this). The only wasted opportunity is the one you had in doing some research before you commented.

@FunnyBoysFilms Genuine constructive feedback doesn't start by calling something a "shame" and a "wasted opportunity" jackass. Your comment was snotty/condescending from the start. Next time, don't comment on something you viewed on your iPhone. Go shove your iPhone up your ...:-).
Wicked lasers is just unreliable in so many different ways. First of all they advertise lasers at1,000 mW but all independent tests I have seen so far have maxed out at 800mW on the high end and then there is the whole issue of ordering a laser and not getting it until 6 months later.
Since the arctic spyder iii is set to 750 mw (max) to ensure quality and long diode life the spartan laser is stronger because it actually is 1 W. I know that the arctic has an IR filter but I don't know about the spartan
@onefugowie They will burn a hole through many things, but material, thickness and color play a part. Thin black plastic, such as the CD case in this video, works well because it is thin, plastic will burn, and it is dark in color, so it will absorb the light energy of the laser (as opposed to a bright color which will reflect much of the energy).
@rcgrabbag thank you for the responce how about one more thing i have read that they are not reliable...the Arctic...have you any input on the quality of the Arctic only....some have said to Google 32 reasons not to buy one whats your input
@onefugowie Yes, many have complained about quality issues. Wicked Lasers got an overwhelming amount of orders for the Arctic and they were unable to keep up with demand effectively. It's likely that they rushed production to fulfill orders and quality suffered as a result. I have not experienced any failure on mine, but I've only messed with it a few times.
@bensons999 My lasers are armed and ready to take out your eyes and your snakes!!! And my fricken' dog will have a fricken' laser beam mounted to it's head.
@AlecLaGrega Sounds like you're implying that the Arctic would be better focused if it was farther away. If so, that would be incorrect for the Arctic in this video. It was positioned for optimal focus. The only way to get better focus on the Arctic in this test would be to actually open it and focus the lens, but that's not the purpose of this test. It is a box-stock comparison of the two products, no mods or adjustments.
oops, i read the info wrong, but the stock lens is the safety lens, they do that for safety reasons because it has such a high wattage but it reduces the power to 80%, sorry about the confusion dude, and fck you 4 trying to start sht over a laser pointer
@aUScontradiction Glad to be of service. BTW, why do you post the same comment like five times? Just trying to give me extra work, or is it your first time with a computer?
so if the blue spartan laser is the most powerful laser u have and it says you can customize your laser what are the differnet options with that pm me it
The arctic is a piece of crap, they say it's 1000mw 1w... But new it only ranges around 800-900mw... The spartan new ranges around 1100mw an last way longer, burns better, an cost less
@aus430 Which "stock lens" are you talking about? The internal lens, the external "safety" lens, or the external clear lens? The only lens that I know of that reduces the power by 80% is the external "safety" lens which was removed for this video (wouldn't burn anything otherwise). You'll have to show some kind of evidence if you're referring to the other two. Without the internal lens, the laser simply won't function. And there is no friggin' way the external clear lens reduces power by 80%.
@aus430 No problem, I've gotten a lot of comments about "taking the training/safety lens off", but as I was saying, it wouldn't be able to burn anything if it was on. That's the whole idea of a safety lens! They're fun to have in any event and sure make great conversation pieces.
@aUScontradiction Let me be a little more clear: The stock lens does NOT reduce power by 80% Where did you get that info? The SAFETY lens may reduce power by 80%, but as stated in the video description, the safety lens is not on.
@aUScontradiction hey asshole, he uploaded a video to demonstrate the box settings. How many videos did you upload? That's right, so shut the fck up you internet trolling tough talking scrawny little bitch. Have some respect. fcking kids these days.
@aUScontradiction also, the Arctic only shines at 10% when you turn it on. you have to hit the button for about 2 seconds to turn it to high beam and really torch things.
Can someone help me outt, I want to buy one. But I don't know the differences, one with 1W is like 200 euro's and another one with 400 mW is 150 only. And what is the "NM" ? I see it at all the lasers like 447 NM what does it do, and what is better higher, or lower ?
@RestLessIP The number of watts is the amount of power. 1W=1000mW. Higher is, for burning purposes, better. The wavelength (measured in nm) indicates the color of the laser. In terms of visibility, green (532nm) will appear brightest to the human eye; aside from that, it's mostly personal preference.
you can get focusing lens for the spyder 3 the sparten comes with a focusing lens the focusing lens on the spyder 3 can cut threw metal fast 1000mw and said to be the most powerful legal laser.
dhgates 5000mw is not 5w. they have 5w handheld lasers that are almost an inch thick wich is impossible. a 5w handheld green laser would be like 10000dollars
:l yeah i guess the spartans like the evenly matched thing and with the burning lens GOODBYE ANNOYING NABOURS!!!!!!!!!! but what would you say is more better in customer service as in arrival and other stuffs?
@iornmaden101 It took about 6 weeks to get the Spyder, and about 2 weeks to get the Spartan. Most people waited much longer to get the Spyder due to demand.
@rcgrabbag ive herd of a newer laser on the market that apparently blows the spyder III out of the water its called the colbat 1000 any info on this? i forgot the sight i looked at it on thoe...
@iornmaden101 I haven't heard of that one, but I've seen now that 5000mw (5w) lasers are available from DHGate. 5w would be 5 times the output of the Spyder.
@rcgrabbag herm...immm guessing i laser that goes past that of the power imput of the spartan and S3 that have a laser rating of 4B would very well be illeglised in some countries? am i right? and if so would it be on the market or is it already? and one more thing if thats also possible can i get it gift wrpaped?
@iornmaden101 I'm not an expert on the laws and classifications that govern these lasers, but as I understand it, Arctics and the like are starting to be seized by US Customs. It may hold true for other countries as well.
One question. I take good care of things, so neither laser will break, it sits on my desk until i get home and use ist for 30 min or so. I am deciding between arctic or spartan, and i have heard that the arctic with the burning/focusing lens (in the arctic lens expanded kit) Is better at burning than the spartan because it is more focused. is this true?
I have the arctic 3 and am kind of worried that the power isnt as goos as it can be. Is there a focusing lens i can buy or is there some way to adjust it so the beam is more concentrated. I notice on mine its pretty wide. Any help would be MUCH appreciated thanks!
@rcgrabbag I opened it up a bit earlier and i know exactly what you mean. I cant find a focusing lens anywhere which sucks. Im prob going to buy the spartan as well....did you buy it from dragon lasers? if so how long did it take to ship and arrive?
@Vasil7112 I don't know how much easier I can make this. That "cap" you refer to is the safety/training lens, which I've already pointed out in the video description here AND on the popups in the video itself, that it is NOT on the Arctic in this video!, It would not be able to burn ANYTHING if it was on! That's why it's called a safety/training lens!
An important thing to note about the Arctic is that the battery it ships with is notoriously shitty, fortunately there are pretty cheap replacements out there that make it a lot better. The Arctic is also extremely easy to modify to accept an external plug-in power supply that makes it perform very well for burning stuff inside. For about $35 I've got mine running off plug-in power because I couldn't take the battery crapping out anymore. Maybe I'll post a how-to video.
great video. i just ordered a spartan 1w over the arctic because if this video. not to mention all the bad crap i see about wicked lasers. what would happen if you accidently hit bare skin with the laser?spartan laser ftw! i think the only ppl who say this isnt a fair test are the fools who fell for the marketing crap on wicked lasers website and bought one.
research b4 u buy anything you cant test first. you cant go wrong.... :-)
@Rt24662 Rayfoss also makes a 1W laser (it's at least rated 1W), AND it has a focusable lens hood. It's pretty cool. I'll have to post video on that soon.
The spartan focus on a smaller area and it is that making it a winner, you know you can make the spyder focus smalle i hope? cause you got the biggest on right now
@Calle299 How do ya figure? I pulled them both out of a box and burned some plastic with them. If I have to focus the Arctic to make it better, shouldn't I also do that to the Spartan? Then what would the result be? When Car and Driver compares a Honda to a Toyota, they don't modify the Honda so that one comes out ahead. This is a box stock comparison of the two, nothing more. Someday maybe I'll do a video about the POTENTIAL of each, but that's not what this video is.
@Calle299 The results are completely fair. Get over it already. You are over-complicating a very simple comparison. Specs only get you so far when the rubber meets the road. There are many factors involved with performance. Sorry the results didn't turn out the way you wanted them too, but that's your problem.
@Vasil7112 First of all, what is a training lend? Second of all READ THE VIDEO DESCRIPTION. READ THE POPUPS ON THE FRIGGIN' VIDEO ITSELF. How much easier can I make this???!!!
OMG SAFETY LENSS!!!1 Just kidding. That's interesting to see in a laser that's so highly esteemed. If you're right about the possibility of discrepancies in WL's manufacturing process, this could affect my decision on which to purchase. Thanks for the video.
@LombardoJoe Heh, too funny. This is a G1 (as opposed to the improved G2) version of the Arctic in the video. Also, I've been able to open up the Arctic and re-focus the lens and get much better results, BUT, the long distance beam gets way out of focus, and makes a big blue blob at longer distances, more like a flashlight beam.
@brickofman The hard evidence is that it burned through the plastic. It could not do that if the safety lens was on with power output reduced 80%. What good would a safety lens be if you can put it on the laser and still burn things with it???
@rcgrabbag Actually I use lasers like this for doing shading in wood burning where I don't want to actually touch the wood with anything solid, not to mention the same laser hooks to my telescope for alignment purposes. I've used it as a level with the line adapter for hanging pictures, and for starting my grill as safer than getting your face in there with a traditional extension lighter. It is a tool, like any other, it just also makes a really good toy too ;)
did you turn the Arctic on high or just leave it at the "safe" 10% setting?

:l yeah i guess the spartans like the evenly matched thing and with the burning lens GOODBYE ANNOYING NABOURS!!!!!!!!!! but what would you say is more better in customer service as in arrival and other stuffs?
iornmaden101 11 months ago
@iornmaden101 It took about 6 weeks to get the Spyder, and about 2 weeks to get the Spartan. Most people waited much longer to get the Spyder due to demand.
rcgrabbag 11 months ago
@rcgrabbag ive herd of a newer laser on the market that apparently blows the spyder III out of the water its called the colbat 1000 any info on this? i forgot the sight i looked at it on thoe...
iornmaden101 11 months ago
@iornmaden101 I haven't heard of that one, but I've seen now that 5000mw (5w) lasers are available from DHGate. 5w would be 5 times the output of the Spyder.
rcgrabbag 11 months ago
@rcgrabbag is it hand held? or is it like one of those box things?
iornmaden101 11 months ago
@iornmaden101 It is hand-held.
rcgrabbag 11 months ago
@rcgrabbag herm...immm guessing i laser that goes past that of the power imput of the spartan and S3 that have a laser rating of 4B would very well be illeglised in some countries? am i right? and if so would it be on the market or is it already? and one more thing if thats also possible can i get it gift wrpaped?
iornmaden101 11 months ago
@iornmaden101 I'm not an expert on the laws and classifications that govern these lasers, but as I understand it, Arctics and the like are starting to be seized by US Customs. It may hold true for other countries as well.

Jrsalenga 11 months ago
One question. I take good care of things, so neither laser will break, it sits on my desk until i get home and use ist for 30 min or so. I am deciding between arctic or spartan, and i have heard that the arctic with the burning/focusing lens (in the arctic lens expanded kit) Is better at burning than the spartan because it is more focused. is this true?
Slagernicus 11 months ago
@Slagernicus I would have to say that is very true. A Spyder with a burning lens should easily outperform the Spartan in burning.
rcgrabbag 11 months ago
How DO you make the spyder perform better. I am interested in getting one and would like to know.
ZE0XE0 11 months ago
@ZE0XE0 You can open it up and refocus the lens for better burning or get a burning lens attachment from Wicked. Some say a better battery helps too.
rcgrabbag 11 months ago
why did the spartan win? i like more the s3
uRiBiTo666 11 months ago
@uRiBiTo666 Could be many reasons which are covered here.
rcgrabbag 11 months ago
@uRiBiTo666 this is the G1 its not like the newer 1 and it didnt have the right lens on for burning
mmvs4u 11 months ago
I have the arctic 3 and am kind of worried that the power isnt as goos as it can be. Is there a focusing lens i can buy or is there some way to adjust it so the beam is more concentrated. I notice on mine its pretty wide. Any help would be MUCH appreciated thanks!
BountyUFC 11 months ago
@BountyUFC There is a burning lens, or you can open it up and refocus the lens, but you will throw off the focus at other distances.
rcgrabbag 11 months ago
@rcgrabbag I opened it up a bit earlier and i know exactly what you mean. I cant find a focusing lens anywhere which sucks. Im prob going to buy the spartan as well....did you buy it from dragon lasers? if so how long did it take to ship and arrive?
Thanks man.
BountyUFC 11 months ago
@BountyUFC I would just skip it and purchase a burning/focusing lens from Wicked.

MrTjcoolkid 1 year ago
@Vasil7112 I don't know how much easier I can make this. That "cap" you refer to is the safety/training lens, which I've already pointed out in the video description here AND on the popups in the video itself, that it is NOT on the Arctic in this video!, It would not be able to burn ANYTHING if it was on! That's why it's called a safety/training lens!
rcgrabbag 1 year ago
Mount it on a gun rail and you'll get a nice laser sight :D
SpecOpCellBorn 1 year ago
Can these light up grills and campfires? I have bad luck with that kind of stuff, maybe this would do the trick.
i90east 1 year ago

Rt24662 1 year ago
@Rt24662 Rayfoss also makes a 1W laser (it's at least rated 1W), AND it has a focusable lens hood. It's pretty cool. I'll have to post video on that soon.

@jackmxd Heh, dunno about that, BUT it is a collector's item (for some)!
rcgrabbag 1 year ago
The spartan focus on a smaller area and it is that making it a winner, you know you can make the spyder focus smalle i hope? cause you got the biggest on right now
Calle299 1 year ago
@Calle299 Did you read the popup annotations on the video? I address all of that.
rcgrabbag 1 year ago
@rcgrabbag Well still it aint fair to say the spartan is the winner
Calle299 1 year ago
@Calle299 How do ya figure? I pulled them both out of a box and burned some plastic with them. If I have to focus the Arctic to make it better, shouldn't I also do that to the Spartan? Then what would the result be? When Car and Driver compares a Honda to a Toyota, they don't modify the Honda so that one comes out ahead. This is a box stock comparison of the two, nothing more. Someday maybe I'll do a video about the POTENTIAL of each, but that's not what this video is.
rcgrabbag 1 year ago
@rcgrabbag exactly my thoughts :)
Sh0CkWaVe94 1 year ago
@rcgrabbag Still, the results aint fair. I hope your good at math and you will see the spyder is better! Try figure it out yourself...
Calle299 1 year ago
@Calle299 The results are completely fair. Get over it already. You are over-complicating a very simple comparison. Specs only get you so far when the rubber meets the road. There are many factors involved with performance. Sorry the results didn't turn out the way you wanted them too, but that's your problem.
rcgrabbag 1 year ago
@Vasil7112 First of all, what is a training lend? Second of all READ THE VIDEO DESCRIPTION. READ THE POPUPS ON THE FRIGGIN' VIDEO ITSELF. How much easier can I make this???!!!
rcgrabbag 1 year ago
where could i buy one?
boogerman501 1 year ago
OMG SAFETY LENSS!!!1 Just kidding. That's interesting to see in a laser that's so highly esteemed. If you're right about the possibility of discrepancies in WL's manufacturing process, this could affect my decision on which to purchase. Thanks for the video.
LombardoJoe 1 year ago
@LombardoJoe Heh, too funny. This is a G1 (as opposed to the improved G2) version of the Arctic in the video. Also, I've been able to open up the Arctic and re-focus the lens and get much better results, BUT, the long distance beam gets way out of focus, and makes a big blue blob at longer distances, more like a flashlight beam.
rcgrabbag 1 year ago
just because you say the lens was off dont prove it...show hard evidence...
brickofman 1 year ago
@brickofman The hard evidence is that it burned through the plastic. It could not do that if the safety lens was on with power output reduced 80%. What good would a safety lens be if you can put it on the laser and still burn things with it???

Whats the primary use of these lasers, I have never seen tools like this before. What are they used for?
troy5690 1 year ago
@troy5690 Nothing productive. Powerful, dangerous toys, that's all.
rcgrabbag 1 year ago 12
@rcgrabbag Damn, I was looking for half a justification to buy one:(
troy5690 1 year ago
@rcgrabbag Actually I use lasers like this for doing shading in wood burning where I don't want to actually touch the wood with anything solid, not to mention the same laser hooks to my telescope for alignment purposes. I've used it as a level with the line adapter for hanging pictures, and for starting my grill as safer than getting your face in there with a traditional extension lighter. It is a tool, like any other, it just also makes a really good toy too ;)
