  • had this game for 4 years n still never get tired of playing

  • this is one of those games where when you beat the grand campaign its like. actually takes a long time. its just amazing like you did all this through all the years.

  • I gave the 1000th thumbs up! :D

  • FORM TESTUDO!

  • I must say this is actually one of the most beautifulest lyrics ever....

  • Strenght and honour

  • @MrVux007 strength

  • - Units,move out.

    - OI !

  • "And remember this above all: Our Roman gods are watching. Make sure

    they are not ashamed!"

  • TRIARII.

  • got the most powerful legion on ship

    ship got sunk

    FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU-

  • @Anduy That's how they're doing this. You can even get your legion onboard a good fleet. And it'll get defeated and sunk by a series of enemies attacks and your ships automatically fleeing right to the next ambush. And you'll only watch it asking yourself how could their 3 boats defeat your 10 or where your foes were hiding those 18 ships with silver experience markers before. Worst point of the game - you can't control what's going on in the sea, best - you can always revenge it on the ground.

  • Imagine if the Romans that lived back then, knew about the legacy they would leave that would inspire this!

  • 2 Mercenary Triarii

One of the best songs i ever heard, and malaysiaboi89 was damn right about buffing legions with it. Could even be used on troops nowadays, i think.

  • To you disscussion - Could there be a half-spelled:

Me God returnes you triumphant- that's how it looks to my non-native english speakers ear,

so - taking into account that it sounds like a brittans warrier wife's song- the whole sense is smth like: You go kick some roman as,which you're defiant to, (and i'll be waiting 4u,confident that) me god returns you triumphant....

  • Thumbs up no doubt. The only video with no additional noises from the fighting troops i found here. And with the lirix too, english ain't my native, althou i can understand the most part of it spoken or written- so its an additinional Big Tumb Up to this video.

Played some RTW and BI campanies at full difficulty and without pausing many times, one of my favorite games...

  • THIS SONG IS IN MY DREAMS I HEAR IT VERY WELL AZ I FIGHT WITH MY ROMAN ARMY YEA BUDDY

  • i love this song >>I HEAR THIS SONG IN MY DREAMS <<<<<<<

  • 2:37 best part

  • Everyone knows Romans wrote and spoke in l33tsp33k, you dumbasses.

    c0g!t0 3rg0 $u3 :P

  • @OmarAlQaseer What?

  • At 1:47, the lyrics are "May god returneth you triumphant". It should say, "May God return with you triumphant".

"Returneth" is Old English for "returns". So the way you have it written makes no sense to the reader. ("May God returns you triumphant" wouldn't haven been written by the song writer, rather what I translated above.)

But it's your video, do what ya want! Peace to you.

  • May God returneth you triumphant makes perfect sense... in a way - May God return you to our lands triumphant (victorious) !

  • @TheNaturalAlpha I love your attitude, indeed! But I was just saying, that it is not the lyrics. The words "return" and "returneth" are not interchangeable. The suffix "eth" is the equivalent of today's version of "es" or "s". In other words, it's the pluralization of the word. May God returns with you triumphant is not correct (and the songwriting wouldn't write that). And indeed, if you listen carefully to the lyrics there, you will hear "May God return WITH you triumphant".

  • @IaxobusJames Maybe it is sung that way so the author could impose more than one meaning and confuse us :) , just like some rock bands did during the 60's and 70's... anyway, I agree with you, the probability that I'm wrong is bigger because English is not my native language! Cheers :)

  • Rome total war might be a old game, but its probably the best game out there for RTS players, I fell inlove with the Total War series when I played Rome, Till Shogun 2... Cant wait for the next Total War game and im hoping it will be Rome 2 :)

  • @RelapseTech how do you love rome shogun 2?

  • @SSWanime Urrrrh I think you mis-read it :p

  • @RelapseTech no i mean how do you love every total war but not shogun 2?

  • @SSWanime I love all Total Wars :) They are the best games I've played yet

  • I spent 20 hours playing Rome: Total War with the current RTR realism mods. Brilliant, totally brilliant! Caesar would be proud.

  • Best in the best sound in game! Great music in the great game. Sega kill idea and else from this game!!!

  • Man, Malaysiaboi89 must be regretting saying that, seeing how his inbox is now spammed by dozens of people who think they're clever making the same "Hur dur Romans spoke Latin" comment.

  • BEST SONG EVER.

  • when i hear the part 2:38 - 3:00 i always imagine a great roman army with the general giving a speech and the man shouting at the enemy...EPIC

  • hey, i wonder if this song would go down well on piano...

  • Roma! Gaius Julius Caesar's wife, Culpernia is awaiting him from Gaul, Alezia and the XIII Legio Gemina....

  • pure awesomnes

  • fuck shogun 2, hail rtw

  • Be strong, be brave, be true

And everything is gonna be fine

  • 11 people are spanish (iberians)

  • @paraskevas1908 I'm Spanish and I like it. Thank you, come again.

  • So much beutiful memories.

  • Excellent video! I love vids that provide the lyrics!

  • good times

  • For some reason I always thought the part at 1:30 said "I love you much to want defy you" =)

  • @GuiltySparkmeister I believe you may have simply not noticed the words: For example, I never really noticed the words for Divinitus while playing, but when I listened to the music video, I heard every word clearly. I think that when playing, and by extension, not paying full attention to the music, you may not hear the words.

  • @ConsvrgoTitanvRomani Then a skirmisher through an javelin at him. The javelin went through him, leaving a bloody hole in his chest.. The soldier froze and fell on the ground, dead in a puddle of blood.

  • @ajbenius "Threw", I meant.

  • 11 dislikes? Seriously?

  • @thewhiteSRR

  • Epic!

  • Rome total war is still my favorite of all Total war games.

every legion would be fuken buffed up

  • @malaysiaboi89

I think they had something simmilar...and trust me they were buffed up :)

How would they conquer more then half of known world if they werent?

But yes...this music lifts the hair on the beck of my neck.

  • @malaysiaboi89 lol u rly think romans can speak english?

  • @SovietUnion100

    Latin is American English.

  • @XKS99 Latin is not American English.

  • @XKS99 it isnt u fool lol ....

  • @XKS99 Go slap your history, Latin, and English teacher.

  • @XKS99 Why are you trying to fool people? Latin is not American English.

  • @malaysiaboi89 General! the barbarians are at the gates of Rome!

Unleash the secret weapon.... it's time to rebuild the Empire

  • @malaysiaboi89 Only if they had it translated to Latin :P

  • @malaysiaboi89 No they wouldn't, they spoke latin, not english :))

  • To be a good Roman, it's hard to go wrong.

Conquer a foreign land and you will receive glory.

And every citizen or soldier you kill is just a bonus xD

    Rome is the greater good!

  • sounds very much like the theme song of BBC series "ROME"

  • Why'd you choose that picture at the end? I've been studying ancient Rome for over 10 years from tribal Latins to the fall of the empire and at no point did they look like that. We actually have fairly good records and visuals of what an ordinary legionnaire would look like and that's what I don't like about games about ancient Rome; they are usually wrong in their visuals. Auxiliary troops we don't know as much about because they didn't have a dress code and came from all reaches of the empire

  • @xXxBlackwaterXxX excpt that's not an ordinary legionnaire, but an elite triarii infantryman

  • @alevegaliolios Aye, if that is the case then traditionally Triarii were close to the rear of the formation and the frontline phalanx usually held and thus Triarii were hardly ever used and that's why they were terminated.

  • @xXxBlackwaterXxX I wouldn't define the front line as a phalanx (if you're talking pre-marian legion), in fact the triarii themselves were the only ones who employed phalanx tactics, and IMO it's not that they were never used but the entire- pre-marian army was based on social class and rank. Higher ranks/veterans were usually triarii, but after the marian-reform which turned the army into a professional army, the need for social class distributions ,albeit for auxiliary units, was not needed.

  • @xXxBlackwaterXxX EB does a good job in accurately depicting the visuals of fighting men from all nations.

  • the greatest song forever, like the game)))

  • where can i get the soundtrack??

  • ROMA VICTOR!!!!

  • ... but he never came home! True ending. >:D

  • 817th like

  • I loved the game and the music but I'm sorry, to put lyrics to this is so cheesy. Whoever was hired to sing this must've found it hard to suppress the chuckling.

  • wait, pls reply,am I right,"cloud on our shore"-greeks right,"roman war" excludes the romans,so in this music, there is about a greek woman, who's hosband is at war with the romans

  • @Csanad121 i think it about any person not roman, an enemy of romans, not just greeks, but i agree with you on the rest

  • @Csanad121 or this could take place back then during the Roman-Epirus war, when Epirus invaded Italy, and the Romans eventually beat them back. but you made a very well thought out commment. i never thought of a roman enemy singing this.

  • @hankock1015 maybe,I said greeks because there are greeks in the game,in RTW there are no Epirus

  • @Csanad121 true, true.

  • Iteth iseth a niceth songeth my friendeth obviouslyeth it has triumphantly returneth!

  • yay, im the 800th liker!

  • Man, did I listen to this 142,456 times already?

  • This song should be featured in Rome 2: Total War, if Creative Assembly decides to remake all of their games. :D

  • @UabYekim: It was featured in original Rome: Total War, isn't that enough? x)

  • Vae decem imbellibus!

  • I´m about to buy an axe and run to the top of the first hill I find, naked, at night, won´t take my dog with me

  • I honestly like ancient Greek more.

  • Comment removed

  • GOD???!!!! You mean THE GODS! Monotheism wasn't to popular back then (which is a good thing).

  • @TheDavid2222 Even in the Odyssey and the Iliad, ancient Greek works, they say "God". It has always referred to Zeus, and more relevantly for the Romans, "Deus Pater", which means Father God, which is likely the original spelling of "Jupiter".

There were many gods, but when you invoked "god", everyone knew what you were talking about.

  • @gzu17 okay cool. I didn't know that.

  • This song somehow makes peace in mind and remember on war

  • This song must be about the most beutifalest song I've ever herd

  • Rome total war is not just a epically cool game,it is the epically cool game and a way of life

  • @milorads98 Damn truth, after year of playing I tattooed "SPQR" on my arm.

  • @Hordek Holy fuck thats a good idea hahah :P Guess what I'm doin!

  • @Hordek nice

  • @milorads98 Well said!

  • before that 2:40-3:00 part, song was very good, 2:40-3:00 part of the song screwed the song

  • @wave2145 it should at least be in roman right?

  • my its a shame that the songs of Jeff van Dyck will only be enjoyed by the Total war gamers and the occasional youtuber. His songs are truly beautiful

  • @rovernic46 Thats an unfortunate truth, Thats why its up to us all to show and tell people this work. Its magnificent.

  • @rovernic46

    Heavy lounge

    Plastic wooden fists

two bands he's been part of

  • @ConsvrgoTitanvRomani You look kind of like me,so here are a couple of pointers:

    1. About your profile, you shouldn't make false braggings about fucking those star trek women. It's weird, man.

    2. While your description of the whole "picture" thing is quaint, it really lacks the simplicity of rolln13's excellent delivery. it's wordy and pretentious and that is what made you look like a stupid fucker (that and repeating me of course)

I hope that clears things up, if not....oh well!

  • @ConsvrgoTitanvRomani My point exactly

  • @ConsvrgoTitanvRomani Way to look like a stupid fucker.

  • @ConsvrgoTitanvRomani r u just trying to get thumbs up?

  • @TheDeathFlag

    lmao well done

  • It's so epic!!!

  • @hankock1015 tbh, i didn't find it funny, p.s dislike jokes are NEVER funny, only reason i hate youtube for implementing likes

  • @nukeboy14 btw, u mad bro?

  • @nukeboy14 OK! stop fighting you two! I agree with nuke that dislike comments are gay!

  • @TheDeathFlag lulz i just thought he was serious, (or was he?) and then he got all pissed about it, i usually dont get into flame wars, it ends up in both people looking like idiots and other people making fun of them. thanks for replying anyways :D

  • @nukeboy14 I think he was serious, lol!

  • @TheDeathFlag lol, that's what people always do when they look like idiots

  • @TheDeathFlag i was not serious and i think u need to shut up. u and nukeboy are starting to get under my skin, and making retarded jokes.

  • @nukeboy14 bro i was not serious. and u r saying i got all pissed. dude, u were the one telling me to shut the fuck up. u trying to lie to get attention?

  • @hankock1015 WTF dude? Im just trying to enjoy the music in peace!

  • @nukeboy14 well stop being such a bitch, and keep your shit to your self.

  • @hankock1015 But i also agree people should keep there shit to them selves!

  • If this was really Roma, you would be killed for such poor grammar.

  • crap. i had both of my comments to this video in the top comments section, but them rolln2013 comes along and ruins it.

  • I'm currently heading up the development of an in-depth online game (OSRPG Online Simulation RPG), set around Earth in 200BCE. Starting in Rome.

The game will allow players to modify the law, as the senate. People of the Republic will vote in their favourite player in their area to represent them.

Play as a Smith. Trader. Farmer. Hunter. So forth.

I'm not one for spam, but pop me a message if you want the link. T'is some good shit. :)

    Project Terra

    Play history. Make history.

  • @azkanan Im currently making a game called Shadow of the Empire, Idk where to go with it but I'd like to see yours

  • @DevinFilms66792

    moddb.com / games / project-terra/

  • @azkanan Very good work! What program are you using to make this? I'm using RPGMaker XP. Btw nice work on Aedes Concordiae ;)

  • @DevinFilms66792

    Custom built engine. :)

  • @azkanan Great work man! (Y)

  • @DevinFilms66792

Hope to see you on the forum some day ;)

  • S.P.Q.R. ! dulce et decorum est pro patria mori.

  • Истенная музыка гордости и благородной войны.

  • War is such a sweet pleasure... Peace... *spits the last word out like piece splintered wood

  • HERE's the REAL picture.

A legionary marches slowly towards an enemy army in what will be a hopeless battle. His sandals stir across the grimy dirt as the fog and tensions of war slowly escalate, marking his sealed doom.

His heavy shield and sword becomes weightless as he is ordered to sprint toward fearsome cavalry. Adrenaline overtakes him.

In his last minutes which seem like hours, he laments his family and his wife, and hopes to see them again in Elysium.

He survives, the enemy is routing.

  • @rolln2013 one problem, the song is written from the point of view of an enemy of rome, so it cant be possible

  • @rometotalwarviper no, it isn't

  • @pedroissler so you're saying that 'a cloud has fallen on our shore, the mighty hand and sword of roman war' is written from a roman's point of view?

  • @rometotalwarviper "And remember this above all, our roman gods are watching, make sure they are not ashamed?" isn't written from a roman's point of view? Really, it's just a song about war, people overtheorize.

  • @pedroissler It either changes the point of view there or it could be that they hear the roman general's speech before the battle anyway i dont want to argue over this i just stated an opinion

  • @rolln2013 Wow 0_0 How did u even think of that?

  • @rolln2013 man , reading that with the music was great!!! :)

  • @alkmangr

    ;]

  • @rolln2013 Okay, well done trying to make some sort of novel. Legionairres would never sprint whilst still in formation. Especially if it was against cavalry? So nice try there.

  • @xXxBlackwaterXxX Don't spoil the mental image with logic; because reality sucks. :p

I find the description kind of romantic, it gives the song the appropriate mental imagery. That's what music is supposed to do, otherwise its just sound.

  • I wish my gf was this supportive when I play total war games e_E

  • Comment removed

  • "And remember this above all:Our Roman Gods are watching,Make sure they're not ashamed!"

    ROME!!!!

  • this reminds me of i i were alexander the great, khalid ibn walid, umar al khattab and other ancients warriors i would definently be brave, be strong be true. And btw 10 people were not brave, not strong and not true :D. this is the best song i love it. first time i heard it at the video 300 spartans vs 4000 persians or something like that and i liked it

  • 10 people are trapped at Teutoburg Forest. =D

  • @hankock1015 LMAO!

  • @hankock1015 romans were trapped there

  • @lodhol thats the point.
