If you like Blink 182, then check out Drop Out Kid. The pop punk trio is from Indianapolis, IN. The members consist of AJ(guitar, vocals) Harvey(bass, vocals) and Nick(drums)
Harvey's cause of death will be an overdose of pizza and orange soda
Nick loves video games, maybe a little too much
AJ is a ghost buster in training
Check out their hit single 'Punk rock is more than a song"
So a lot of u guys said he doesnt want to play it cuz he is embarrassed of it, but didnt he remake other songs he was embarrassed of? like all of keasby nights and they provide the paint... his voice has changed a lot since then and many of the high notes he cant hit anymore, so i think that him saying hes embarrassed is just an excuse and he may really b worried he would not b able to sing the song as well. Who wants to make a song you wrote when u were young even worse? thats more embarrassing
Halfway through this I thought to myself "WOW this is surpisingly great". My next thought was "no, not surprising, everything Tomas has ever done has been amazing."
@Youtubican make your own! i downloaded the album online, and they have templates that people have somehow miraculously found. just record it on cassette and make your own cover from google!! i plan on doing so for the car and listen to it in its true form!! (sort of)
It's a shame that this song goes unkown to so many people... Then again, my generation would likely say something like "Needs more autotune" or "I like Bieber more." :/
people have to get off his back, he doesn't want to play it, get over it. leave the dude alone, don't you guess get that you are irritating the shit out of him?
I swear, next time I see Streetlight live, I'm going to try to get a bottle of Mrs. Butterworth's syrup there and get it signed by a ton of people there, and then give it to Tom with a note that says "Please Play Me"
I'm gonna either get a picture of pancakes with something that says "You know what this needs..." with everyone's signatures on it, or get Aaron Barrett of Reel Big Fish to get everyone sign a syrup bottle.
@summerofska ..and i believe during bamboozle he said he wrote it when he was 15/16. he's an amazing artist, but it wouldn't really make sense for him to have written it at 9
if i had one last wish....if i could take one last opportunity to hear one last song before the arms of death swept me away... i would want to hear this performed by tomas and the 2 members of gimp.
@TheMetalupyourass83 Same, i think theres a bass tab out for it, which is great cause the bass in this song is fantastic to learn. But no guitar as far as I know, maybe one day :/
I get the feeling that he secretly likes to hate this song. After all most artists tend to have a song that they hate, but the fans love (Radiohead and Creep) (Reel Big Fish and Sellout).
Only how long till he makes a song about not playing butterworth?
@Dragon22mj I can't send the url, but Google the RISC Group Fansite. Once there, go to Downloads (on the sidebar) then Music. It should be the first download.
@alphabettsoup66 99 Songs of Revolution is called 99 Songs of Revolution because eventually between Streetlight, BOTAR, and other Kalnoky acts 99 Songs will be covered.
@alphabettsoup66 It's funny, cuz it's a multi-album project that's called 99 Songs of Revolution, it's called that because there's obviously more than one album. And Streetlight has already confirmed that they're in the process of creating 99SOR part 2.
Everybody has been saying that Kalnoky was fifteen when he recorded these. I was actually thinking about it, Kalnoky was born Dec. 24 1980. This was released 1995, more than positive before Christmas. That means he was 14 at the time! Am I the first to catch that? O.o

@palkian90 Yea, but Tom took the courtesy to bring back Macavity from his new clothing line last month. WOOOOOOOOH FOR THE RESURRECTION OF MACAVITY!!!!
I just took a bottle of Mrs. Butterworth's syrup with "Play Me" written all over it to the Streetlight show in Portland last night... I threw it to Tomas and he just shook his head laughing.
@goodtimesontoob I had another idea that just didn't materialize in time... I was going to make a sign with a picture of pancakes on it and something along the lines of: MY PANCAKES CRAVE BUTTERSWORTH!!!
@norwegianfisher Yea, I was gonna do the Butterworth bottle idea and heve a sign with a enlarged picture of Mrs. Butterworth saying "Play me Tomas!" hahaha we have similar minds! instead I got to touch his shoe when he walked in front of the horn line and in front of me hahaha
@norwegianfisher well, it wont work... this is what Mike Brown said,, "as you know already, nothing will work. that song will not be in the rotation... i don't think anyone in the band knows it... not even tom. it's done." :(
@norwegianfisher I know the song 100% on the guitar I can write the tabs lol. Actually me and my band is recording a cover of Mrs. Butterworth over the weekend to show Mike Brown. But what I think he means by that is that Tomas doesn't know that the song will ever see the light of day, I mean I'm sure he knows how to play it. He just chooses not to (obviously):
@Conchobear Oh yeah, funny story... I started writing the tabs out back in April and I got bored and frustrated and stopped working on the tab after the second line. I never realized how much of a pain in the ass it is to write them... Anyways, I can always make a cover video or a REALLY LAZY Tab, I'm just unsure when I'll get around to it. I've neglected the internet lately also... I'll get around to it someday..
Someone requested this song at one of Streetlight's concerts and he was just like "What? I wrote that when I was like nine..."
And on their website, during The Four Out of Seven In Three Before Nine Tour, at the very end of the part where they mentioned that they would be taking requests, they wrote in all caps: "NO MRS. BUTTERWORTH"
i think the reason this isnt on 99 SOR is because it really isnt a song that was imortant to him, and if he did put it on 99 sor he just do it cause people wanted him to and that would be selling out and he knows that is wrong
@RidingThe4thWave selling out isnt giving the fans what they want. it CAN be. only if you dont want to do it. it wouldnt be selling out if they decided to do it for their fans. if they did it for money. which they never would. because yeah your right, he knows its wrong, it would be.
@RidingThe4thWave its not selling out to put a song on an album because people requested it. its selling out to do anything specifically for money only.
you know what i find amazing? how much he progressed musically in about 3 years. i know this tape came out when he was 15, i think i read it was '95. in '98 keasby nights came out, which has been hailed as the best 3rd wave punk/ska album ever!
you'd be surprised what being in high school, and having nothing better to do than play music all day because society considers you a "loser," can do. :D
people say he was only nine, just cause in that video with the acoustic set, someone shouts out mrs. butterworth and he says "can you please stop saying butterworth, i was like 9, its the most embarressing thing i have ever written" and people took the message wrong. when really hw was just over exagerating how old he was.... wich is 15.....still impressive tho
i agree, but im 17, thats only 2 years away from the age he wrote it... im sure when im his age (30) i will have a different opinion on this song... pluss i have some music i did when i was 14 that im really embarresed of...so i guess i see where hes coming from
Good point. I dont know maybe I won't like the song as much but I doubt ill like cringe upon hearing it. And its defenitly not corny or anything but I guess I can understand it being annoying to get requests for a song you did in your teens
@alwaysblinkin182 So true man. Not being a cocky douche, but I've had some people ask me to play some of my old songs that I wrote when I was 15 and damn it's so embarrassing.
no, like it fits and everything but i think as the footsteps die out forever is true, and when he wrote mrs. buttterworth i think he was just trying to write a sad song. ....... but ya never know.
Nine. Even if it was a fragment of an idea, he still STARTED it when he was 9. It even checks out with some of his interviews. I don't remember what I did when I was 9, but I can tell you now that I didn't even know what Ska was yet...
sigh...i miss how good everything went numb was...

He was NINE when he wrote this!?
These lyrics are deeper and more meaningful than most of the stuff you hear on the radio i think
Zach666666 2 years ago 5
people say he was only nine, just cause in that video with the acoustic set, someone shouts out mrs. butterworth and he says "can you please stop saying butterworth, i was like 9, its the most embarressing thing i have ever written" and people took the message wrong. when really hw was just over exagerating how old he was.... wich is 15.....still impressive tho
alwaysblinkin182 2 years ago
why would he be embarrased by this? its amazing i feel
Zach666666 2 years ago 2
i agree, but im 17, thats only 2 years away from the age he wrote it... im sure when im his age (30) i will have a different opinion on this song... pluss i have some music i did when i was 14 that im really embarresed of...so i guess i see where hes coming from
alwaysblinkin182 2 years ago 5
Good point. I dont know maybe I won't like the song as much but I doubt ill like cringe upon hearing it. And its defenitly not corny or anything but I guess I can understand it being annoying to get requests for a song you did in your teens

@alwaysblinkin182 So true man. Not being a cocky douche, but I've had some people ask me to play some of my old songs that I wrote when I was 15 and damn it's so embarrassing.
thesoftsquid 2 years ago
ya but mabe you should play them.... think about it, be a bigger man than kalnoky and play them....haha.
alwaysblinkin182 2 years ago
@alwaysblinkin182
Haha no ones bigger than kalnoky.
thesoftsquid 2 years ago
@thesoftsquid haha that sounded so wrong, but i agree with you.
alwaysblinkin182 2 years ago
yea i get that. i compare the band i was in when i was 13 to the band im in now (im 17 as well) and it is quite embarassing.

Anyone else think "Mrs. Butterworth" and the mother from "As the Footsteps Die Out Forever" are the same person?
zombieguitar93 2 years ago
no, like it fits and everything but i think as the footsteps die out forever is true, and when he wrote mrs. buttterworth i think he was just trying to write a sad song. ....... but ya never know.

fuck he was 9 and he still writes better songs than me

He was nine? NINE?!

Nine. Even if it was a fragment of an idea, he still STARTED it when he was 9. It even checks out with some of his interviews. I don't remember what I did when I was 9, but I can tell you now that I didn't even know what Ska was yet...

Makes one feel inadequate...
Ah well, I could go into various existential reasons why it doesn't bother me but I can't be bothered.
