  • My cat constantly scratches herself and is covered in scabs and scratches (has been de-flead and had steroid injection and still does it) would these be helpful in stopping her hurting herself with her baqck claws and will they prevent her climbing properly outside?

  • Do these actually stop you cat from scratching? Don't they just scratch with these plastic tips instead, causing less (but similar) damage? Thanks

  • My cat freaks out when I even attempt to trim one nail = (

  • I really gotta get my Max reaccustomed to nail trimming. I'm a totally blind cat owner and my mom would come over once or twice a month to help me trim his nails. But se's started working again recently and so hasn't been able to do it consistently, so he's gotten rusty. In fact last time my mom tried he bit her, which is unusual for him. And she herself stopped using the softcaps after her own kittens discovered they could get them off with enough chewing.

  • my cat is a pain in the ass so I'm totally getting this for her for the sake of my poor abused furniture.

  • When Soft Paws (Claws) was first developed, on (soft claws) was available to the public and the other (soft paws) was only available to vets. Now they're for everyone! If you're still interested in the caps we suggest checking with your vet or local groomer, many will apply the caps for you.

  • What I find funny is that Soft Paws and Soft Claws are the exact same thing sold under 2 different names. I would like to try these on my MiMi, but she is very fussy and objects in every way possible to having her claws trimmed. It is even hard when my sister is helping me. God only knows the kind of fit she would have if I tried to put these on her... :/

  • @xiSuffocate no it does not when the nails start shedding the CAP falls off NOT the nail

  • dim enough to put SUPER GLUE on there cats nails?

  • @Nateg1345 dude just shut up and get a life let me say this nicely THE CAPS COME OFF WHEN THE NAILS START SHEDDING do you really think people are dim gh to

  • Did you drug your cat before applying? she looks as docile as hell

  • @arconian No. Charlie is a very loving cat and has had his paws handled since he was a kitten. Getting your cat used to regular nail trimmings is very helpful for the application of Soft Paws.

  • @softpawsnailcaps can you put it on a kitten or not ?

  • @arconian I'm not a vet, my cats are "mutts". I put softpaws on both my cats last night. If you get your cats used to a laid back manicure routine they really don't mind that much. My girl cat does still give me the "I know where you sleep" look Charlie was sporting, It helps to introduce them to the idea of you touching their feet during nap time, and maybe with treats if they haven't been introduced to the idea of nail clipping yet.

  • I have a question. I got this for my 3 cats. However after I applied them a few of the caps have fallen off my cats. Is that normal? I just put new ones on, but did they fall off because I did it wrong? Also they don't slide on that easy. I have large medium and small because I have diff size cats. However on my biggest cat I have a really hard time getting them on. Do they have to go all the way to the cuticle or can they just go on about half way? I have trimmed his nails still having issues.

  • i'd like to write a personal story.

so i actually tried these on my cat, and they work great. my parents just got new furniture, and curtains and i would say these caps really helped. i didn't want to move out or give her away so these were the best choice. It doesn't harm her at all, it's almost like putting on fake nails. when they come off they come off during the nail's shedding cycle, so it doesnt hurt them at all.

P.S. if your cat is used to getting their nails trimmed it'll be easy

  • If you want to have a plush toy, get plush toy, don't cat!

  • when do u need to take it out...or do u never need it out

  • @soaringabovetime The nail caps will fall off naturally with the shed cycle of your cats nails.

  • I just want to know if these work or not.. :/

Would it only work on a calm cat? ...

  • @Nateg1345 The adhesive included in the Soft Paws (and Soft Claws) packaging is a cool bonding non-toxic glue that is comparable to a veterinarian grade adhesive. Super glue is heat bonding and can be toxic to pets. They are not one in the same and we do not recommend anyone using super glue (or any other brand) if they happen to run out of the adhesive included in the packages.

  • @Nateg1345 Humans do put fake nails on with super glue. LOL As well, it is non-toxic. I used it on my cat and It's perfectly safe and harmless. She's perfectly healthy. And it's a way better alternative to de-clawing which can permanently damage the tendons. Maybe you should do some research on the product before saying totally ignorant comments.

  • @Nateg1345 In addition to what Nateg1345 said, cat claws are NOT the same as human claws. Cat claws will shed after a time, so this is not the same as slapping acrylic nails on a human hand. If applied with the appropriate amount of glue, the nail caps will fall off naturally with the shed nail.

  • @Nateg1345 your stupid and anyways we do do that its called fake nails

  • @Nateg1345 she's a certified doctor. i'm sure she knows what she's applying on the cats. you stupid.

  • @Nateg1345 we do put glue on our nails are you not a girl?

  • @Nateg1345 People do and still do that it's called Acrylic nails.

  • "use about 10 of them...." The cat might only have 8 toes lol

  • @jewie27 10 would be including the cats dew claws because some cats can still scratch and snag objects with their dew calws. Although, not all people apply the nail caps to the dew claws.

  • im nervous my roommate is making me help her put the damn nail caps on her damn whiny cats!

  • @jaqueesha Have plenty of treats on hand, treats always help!

  • Thanks for the video.

  • Thepawproject blocked me after I called on their bull shit of only allowing the comments they wanted.

  • @Sumgui2009 First of all, what does that have to do with this video here? Secondly, I have seen supporters of declawing remove and censor comments from those who disagree with them all over the place, on many different sites. They are becoming well known for it, in fact. I will bet that a majority of the people who have uploaded videos to YouTube have removed comments at one time or another.

  • my cat would've already scratched my face off and ran away the cat is telling you it doesn't like it....so stop

  • Awesome product! I just put them on our cat Nacho. He wasn't having it at first, but within 30 minutes, he got over it. Spending $1,000 on a new couch every two years was getting old, and de-clawing iss out of the question... Only problem now is the other cat, Lucy, and the dog laugh at him. Thank you Dr. Schelling.

  • @OOQRA Glad to hear the nail caps were a good solution to all the destructive scratching. You know, we also have nail caps for dogs. No one would be laughing then. ;)

  • I like this invention... For one, yes cats can be trained not to destroy things with their claws, however not all are so easy... And some are just down-right impossible to keep from scratching.... This invention comes in handy during such circumstances... Even though I do not own a pet, I still say that this is an EXCELLENT creation...

  • @xiSuffocate Cats shed off the top layer of their nail, kinda like a snake sheds off their skin. So when the caps come off it comes off with the nail that was already coming off in the first place.

  • @mineralmakeupjunkie We have a video on how to trim a cat's claws that can be watched on our channel page.

  • @mineralmakeupjunkie I've been trying to train my kitten for the past few months and your "squirt" method is not working, she seems to enjoy the squirt of water. Softpaws were invented by a vet, not a "mean" person and they are a humane method to avoid damaged furniture and flesh wounds.

  • @mineralmakeupjunkie The cats I've got don't claw my furniture when I'm around, but once I'm out of the house and there's nobody to spray water at them they happily dig their nails right into it. Unlike some people, I work (yes really), which means I can't watch them 24/7 like a hawk. I have YET to find anyone who can come with actual proof this is harmful to them. So far it's just a bunch of people with a stick up their ass whining about abuse without a shred of proof.

  • charlie looks pretty relaxed! :)

  • LOL i would laugh if the cat scratched her face ROFL!

  • @bigchicken24

I would laugh even harder if your computer blew up in your face and some one cut your fingers off one by one.

  • @AaronGA1983

YOUR STATEMENT DOES NOT COMPUTE! THUS MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE

    HAVE A GOOD DAY SIR!

  • @KayLovesYou8210 Most rabbits wear Soft Paws for dogs. You can get them at softpaws.net

  • I love the idea. I was wondering, since I really love my two felines and would do nothing to hurt them, are soft paws really a humane solution or do they hinder the cats in any way? Thank you in advance for your answer :-)

  • @Banquo85 The Soft Paws are a humane alternative to declawing. Cats can still walk, play, jump and scratch like normal--just without any of the damage of scratching. The caps do not hinder the retraction or extension of the claws.

  • @softpawsnailcaps How to they not hinder the retraction of the claw? I would think that the soft claw is glued onto the nail, the nail would be in a permanently extended position.

  • @MisAJGraveS They fit seamlessly over the nail, as long as the cap is not pressing against the cuticle there should be no discomfort or loss in any regular abilities. Retraction, jumping, playing, litter box use and even scratching like normal--just without any damage!

  • how long do they last?

  • @darkpal123 The nail caps stay on between 4-6 weeks

  • my cat scratched my dog in the eye, will SoftPaws prevent this from hurting my dog in the future, because I'm desperately trying to find an alternative to declawing.

  • The nail caps will help blunt the scratching. Eyes are a sensitive area, caps or no caps scratching could damage the eyes. But as far as general scratching when they interact, the Soft Paws should help a great deal for preventing injury.

  • Thanks, also my cat likes to scratch things, will the soft paws stay on their nails? And will the soft paws retract with my cat's nails?

  • @ZONEGX Yes, the nail caps should stay on between 4-6 weeks and they allow for normal retraction. Your cat will still be able to walk, jump, knead, stretch, play & scratch like always the only difference is the claws will be blunt and help prevent the damage caused by scratching.

  • I have seen lots of info on applying Soft Paws but none on removing them. In the beginning I would take my cat to the Vet about once a month and have the old ones taken off and new ones put on. Now that I do it myself I usually just wait till they fall off then put on a new one. I don't know how to get them off without hurting her. I would like to replace more of the ones that are ready all at once while the glue in the tube is still fresh before it starts to dry up and get goopy.

  • I am about to get a new kitty in a couple weeks though the adoption agency is against declawing and won't let me adopt him in the case, i was wondering from customers would you reccommend them?

  • I could not trim my 3 month old kittens nails much less apply soft paws. She went crazy! It was awful. Fortunately my vet will trim the cats nails and apply the soft paws for $10. (I supply the soft paws) I took her in 1 time a month for about 4 months. After that I started replacing the ones that would fall off myself. Check out MissBiscuit823 "kitty gets her manicure". She's 1 year old now. You'd have to see it to believe it. I'd be glad to share my experiences with you if you like.

  • How do the SoftPaws come off?

  • They fall off with the natural shedding cycle of the cats nails.

  • Dr. Toby Wexler is the inventor of Soft Paws (Claws). So glad to hear that the product is working for you and your cat.

  • 3:47 hes like what the hell are you doing to be lady let me go!!!! aww poor baby

  • This is so unreal... my cats would never let me hold them in that position, let alone get their claws LOL

    Charlie is an angel!

Doesn't this make the cats uncomfortable to walk???? It seems like his paws can no longer return to their "hiding" place when he has them on. I'm just curious, because my kitties scratch a lot on the furniture and I want to get new couches LOL

    PLEASE RESPOND!!!

  • This position is just one example of how to hold your cat while applying the nail caps. Its best to hold your cat in whatever position that makes both you and your cat comfortable.

Soft Paws are designed not to interfere with the normal extension and retraction of a cats claws. Your cat will still be able to walk, play, climb, jump, stretch and scratch like normal the only difference is that the nail caps blunt the scratching that causes damage.

  • thanks for the detailed video. my new kitten comes home next weekend and I want it to be a good experience for both of us for years to come.

  • umm...

these aren't really good for kittens becuase their nails grow very fast

but maybe after a year or so, these will be terrific :]

  • We offer kitten sizes that can be applied after they are at least 12 weeks old.

  • Thanks, i want those!

  • Thanks for the video, It was very informative. Wish my sophie was that well behaved.LOL!
