great soundtrack but something seriously needs to be done to improve the movie....its got potential...the music...the story line...its lacking the actors and the direction...the actors will develop on their own but shyamaln is butchering the series like it were prime rib in a delly!

( like in the Lord of the rings movie) also it has great lines like "now we are the gods !" or "It's to teach us humility" (talking about the 2 fish who represent the spirit of the ocean and the moon), with this film I see that Shyamalan show to everybody how much he loves the show !

James Newton Howard's soundtrack was one of the only good things about this movie. Unlike Shyamalan, you can tell that Howard really worked hard on this.
God damed this is AN ADAPTATION when you are making AN ADAPTATION you have to take liberties from the original products to show to the audience your own vision of the products, Christopher Nolan took liberties with the Batman comic books to show his vision of Batman AND NOBODY COMPLAINED ABOUT THAT.

I frickin love this movie! I still watch it from time to time. Its a shame most people didnt care much for it. Had beautiful effects, landscaping, costumes and the acting wasnt so bad in my opinion. Its good to see movies with new actors in it. Looking foward to The Last Airbender 2!!!

I was aghast at this abomination unto cinema for the entire movie and then, when that wave started coming up, for a brief two minutes at the end while this music played I forgot everything terrible about the film and almost cried, it was so beautiful. Then one of the characters opened their mouth and I was back to reality.
Props to you James Newton Howard. You came out of that train wreck a more respected composer in my eyes (or ears, as the case may be).

this is another movie, why I'm glad that I made my own opinion and not just stupidly repeated the reviews. I'm outing myself here, I LIKED the last Airbender. I think the actors worked well in their roles, story of the first book was good summed up, the settings were amazing, the choreography was brilliant (ever tried some kung fu? its not that easy), 3d effects were great, and James Howard is one of hollywoods mastermind-musicians. I see no reason to hate this movie.
@whiterabbit360 Have you ever seen the animated series upon which this is based? They tried to stay true to the story but failed in many ways, a prison camp for Earth benders with plenty of rock around them doesn't make sense... a scene where 8 of them wave their arms to move one rock. Fire cannot be made on their own while the other elements can. The Firelord didn't give the 'wow he is seriously is one bad guy feeling', as did the Fire Nation. 3d effects were cheap, only the music was good.

Personally, I LOATHED this movie. The acting was wooden, the dialogue was terrible, the pacing was slow, the lighting was dim, the action sequences were boring, and the 3D effects were horrendous. The thing is... it was a pretty bad movie compared to others, but the storyline of an entire season of movies also would have been really hard to fit in. For what the makers of the movie did, I'd say they did a pretty good job. It definitely wasn't the worst movie of the year.
@paleobc65 of course and I totally love it. But if you think about this awesome series you have to admit, they had to do some changes to press a whole season in only 90 minutes. And I think they did a great job with that. I would have done some things different, and many things could have been much better. But all in all I can really live with what they came up with. And I would love to see the other books.

@Verris54321 They kept control because fire is easy to make I mean what all they did was launch a flamming boulder onto the land and once they got some fire they could make as much as they wanted.And no the acting was altered by the studio as was the film with the original cut being much longer and better reviewed.

@3GxX i totally agree with you!! its definitely part of the director's fault for the poor acting in the film. speilberg believes that a director that tells his actors to fallow everything the he says makes the actors stupid and fake, hence a bad director. a good director gets more "experienced" actors to just live the character with an objective in mine, making the eyes of the actors speak the character lives.

It is not a bad movie, its just too rushed and the bending is a bit disappointing (And uncle Iroh is NOT fat, I think that's the worst, he wasn't like uncle Iroh from the series) The movie, since it's so short compared to the series, only has what's important to understand the story, all the happy and funny parts is removed from the storyline in the movie which make it too sad. I think the movie is well made though! :)

im truly amazed by how realistic the CGI is becoming these days, special effects made in barely 5 yrs ago are all look ridiculous at the moment despite we all amazed by it at that time, i wonder how things may change in next 5 yrs?
Pretty music, but to my ears it doesn't sound much like the style of the original ost, which given their "eastern influences" (as the wiki calls it) might have been more appropriate. Could be wrong, though.
in the tv show, the fire nation wasn't limited to the access of the elements like the other benders. But in the movie, the director made it so they are limited. But what he didn't realize is that that was the reason why the fire nation thought they were superior to the other three elements. I think I made my point.

People are just on a rampage and it's "cool" do so.The series is better but there are FAAAAAAR WOOOOORST movies that don't even deserve to be mentioned. Because it is M Night we expect the 6th sense class of movie. It is what it is a very good kid movie. Hoping though like everyone else Shyamalan will step up!
i saw this moviw with 2 firends one who like me is a huge fan of the show and one who have never seen it before.
and we all agreed that any secne that we wasn't laughing at for it's horrible directing practicaly gave us an anurism because of how horrible it was.
the actors were horrible, the narative was thrown out the window from the start, the sences were a mess and the entire thing was an insult to the source material.
The music they have used in the movie is beautifull. And I like the story of the last airbender, but the actors aren't really that great. So i didn't really like the movie, hope the second is better than this

Alright, some things why people don't need to see this movie unless you'r not such a dumb one who only wants to see action:
- The serie has to many episodes to put everything in 2 hours.
- It's a movie, not excactly the serie, so don't moan if you don't know a part.
- If you think a bit further then just the movie, you will understand that this movie is just the prologue of 3 movies, what means; the second part will be awesome, and the final part will be beast

@HeadlerUitHolland its not that there are too many episodes, its not that the movie doesnt follow the series exactly, and the thing about "prologue of 3 movies" doesnt really apply , because the series had a climax at each ending to entice people to continue watching. Our lovely movie, however, had aang make a HUGE NICE EFFECTS wave, just to let it down without harming a single person. How benevolent indeed. The movie's dialogue was ridiculous, the plot was disjoint and dry. Great effects though
Great soundtrack, words aren't enough to describe it :) Yeah the actors in the film were terrible, but the story was excellent, especially if you are into Elements and Esoterism/Occult you can tell that whoever came up with this stuff was no random guy ;)
Thanks for sharing these soundtracks. I've been looking for them for a while. I love this film so much and even though it was lacking in some areas, the amazing Martial arts involved made it all the more better. I loved the end the most though xD

this is another movie, why I'm glad that I made my own opinion and not just stupidly repeated the reviews. I'm outing myself here, I LIKED the last Airbender. I think the actors worked well in their roles, story of the first book was good summed up, the settings were amazing, the choreography was brilliant (ever tried some kung fu? its not that easy), 3d effects were great, and James Howard is one of hollywoods mastermind-musicians. I see no reason to hate this movie.

@whiterabbit360 Have you ever seen the animated series upon which this is based? They tried to stay true to the story but failed in many ways, a prison camp for Earth benders with plenty of rock around them doesn't make sense... a scene where 8 of them wave their arms to move one rock. Fire cannot be made on their own while the other elements can. The Firelord didn't give the 'wow he is seriously is one bad guy feeling', as did the Fire Nation. 3d effects were cheap, only the music was good.

@whiterabbit360 I can understand someone liking the movie. What I can't understand is someone saying that there is no reason to hate the movie. You can't just ignore everyone else's opinion. Personally, I LOATHED this movie. The acting was wooden, the dialogue was terrible, the pacing was slow, the lighting was dim, the action sequences were boring, and the 3D effects were horrendous. James Newton Howard's soundtrack is one of the only good things about "The Last AIrbender".

The thing is... it was a pretty bad movie compared to others, but the storyline of an entire season of movies also would have been really hard to fit in. For what the makers of the movie did, I'd say they did a pretty good job. It definitely wasn't the worst movie of the year.

@paleobc65 of course and I totally love it. But if you think about this awesome series you have to admit, they had to do some changes to press a whole season in only 90 minutes. And I think they did a great job with that. I would have done some things different, and many things could have been much better. But all in all I can really live with what they came up with. And I would love to see the other books.

@whiterabbit360 except that the acting was horrendous, and they were NOT at all like their cartoon character counterparts. I could sum up the first season better than that. The ONLY thing that was remotely any good were the bending effects and not the actual scenes themselves and I think they should have kept the original music from the cartoon. How the fuck did the Fire Nation even start and maintain a war for a century if 99% of the benders can't even create their own fire? Terrible adaption.

@Verris54321 They kept control because fire is easy to make I mean what all they did was launch a flamming boulder onto the land and once they got some fire they could make as much as they wanted.And no the acting was altered by the studio as was the film with the original cut being much longer and better reviewed.

I've heard this claim before, by the way, I don't blame the actors fully on how it all played out. I blame M. Night for his terrible writing and director mostly.

@Verris54321 Yeah you can put it out but once they've got some even a spark it doesn't matter anymore similar to pyro in xmen 3 he turned a little into alot.And the original cut was better reviewed and also look at daredevil a movie that was slammed by critics until the director cut the movie how he wanted and the director's cut is critically acclaimed now.Recently scream 4 has had the same issue of studios cutting into the films editting process.

@mayhem9024 well either way, I seriously hope this series gets rebooted with Micheal and Bryan writing the script and producing it and have a competent director that won't butcher your baby that had a lot of work go into it...I don't think anyone who liked this movie actually remembers the cartoon or even watched it...Lets just say seriously disappointed doesn't even begin to describe how much this movie disgraces my favorite cartoon.

@3GxX i totally agree with you!! its definitely part of the director's fault for the poor acting in the film. speilberg believes that a director that tells his actors to fallow everything the he says makes the actors stupid and fake, hence a bad director. a good director gets more "experienced" actors to just live the character with an objective in mine, making the eyes of the actors speak the character lives.

@MOTHMAN225 too true. nothing like the animated series. there were moments in the series that made you cry, anxious, afraid, laugh like crazy, smack your head at the irony, feel the love, absolutely jitter with the excitement of the climaxes, awe at the beauty of its world, ponder over the age-old oriental wisdom so cleverly incorporated into the characters, dynamically view the antagonists, identify with the dilemmas, evolve with the characters and basically just moved you. the film had nothing

The actors werent that bad, just the script that they had to read up, the directing they got was horrible.
I loved the tv show and its story... but halfway watching the movie in the cinema i was really like: lets get this shit over with, lets hope for something that makes up for this rape of the orginal story.
The 3D effects were low grade and just not realistic... a dozen people wave their arms to make a tiny rock move? You serious?
At least the muscic was good.

I loathed this movie. I thought it was one of the most dispointing movies i've ever seen, as it squandered the potential of it's source material. Just thinking about it makes me sigh and shake my head in shame. With that said, though, this musical score is easily one of the best i've ever heard, and I still listen to it with relish to this day : )

It is not a bad movie, its just too rushed and the bending is a bit disappointing (And uncle Iroh is NOT fat, I think that's the worst, he wasn't like uncle Iroh from the series) The movie, since it's so short compared to the series, only has what's important to understand the story, all the happy and funny parts is removed from the storyline in the movie which make it too sad. I think the movie is well made though! :)

Pretty music, but to my ears it doesn't sound much like the style of the original ost, which given their "eastern influences" (as the wiki calls it) might have been more appropriate. Could be wrong, though.

in the tv show, the fire nation wasn't limited to the access of the elements like the other benders. But in the movie, the director made it so they are limited. But what he didn't realize is that that was the reason why the fire nation thought they were superior to the other three elements. I think I made my point.

People are just on a rampage and it's "cool" do so.The series is better but there are FAAAAAAR WOOOOORST movies that don't even deserve to be mentioned. Because it is M Night we expect the 6th sense class of movie. It is what it is a very good kid movie. Hoping though like everyone else Shyamalan will step up!

i saw this moviw with 2 firends one who like me is a huge fan of the show and one who have never seen it before.
and we all agreed that any secne that we wasn't laughing at for it's horrible directing practicaly gave us an anurism because of how horrible it was.
the actors were horrible, the narative was thrown out the window from the start, the sences were a mess and the entire thing was an insult to the source material.

Alright, some things why people don't need to see this movie unless you'r not such a dumb one who only wants to see action:
- The serie has to many episodes to put everything in 2 hours.
- It's a movie, not excactly the serie, so don't moan if you don't know a part.
- If you think a bit further then just the movie, you will understand that this movie is just the prologue of 3 movies, what means; the second part will be awesome, and the final part will be beast

I thought they did a AWESOME job at (as far as) picking which episodes to chose and combining some together so that it would fit.....BUT the ACTING, the DIALOGUE, the STORY TELLING! Its like they did EVERYTHING WRONG DAMN NEAR! ALL THE FREAKING EXPOSITION AND NARRATING WAS JUST FREAKING HORRIBLE! Part 2 would be TWICE AS WORSE! NTY

@HeadlerUitHolland its not that there are too many episodes, its not that the movie doesnt follow the series exactly, and the thing about "prologue of 3 movies" doesnt really apply , because the series had a climax at each ending to entice people to continue watching. Our lovely movie, however, had aang make a HUGE NICE EFFECTS wave, just to let it down without harming a single person. How benevolent indeed. The movie's dialogue was ridiculous, the plot was disjoint and dry. Great effects though

Flow Like Water is so beautiful, and was really powerful while Aang was bending the wave at the end.
I loved this movie as much as the cartoon and really hope they get to finish the trilogy.

Great soundtrack, words aren't enough to describe it :) Yeah the actors in the film were terrible, but the story was excellent, especially if you are into Elements and Esoterism/Occult you can tell that whoever came up with this stuff was no random guy ;)
