nice video....but all reenactments seem to look and turn out about the same..... i have been in alot of them and they all turn into a general shootout and hardly ever follow the scenario...lol..
I was there with the 2nd Miss. Vol. Inf. Pontotoc Rifles (Old Guard)...We were in the red shirts with black tri-corn hats with white stars (although my company had grey shirts)....damn it was hot! 105 degrees!
One thing I really wished happened was better impressions. I mean 150th only happens once stop being so damn cheap and get your impression right for the battle. Confederates seems to be stuck in 1864 and Federals in 1863. And everyone should have nice uniforms. I saw so many confederates with falling appart uniforms and no shoes...of course I saw a lot of good ones too. And for the Federals a lot more regiments had dark blue trousers than sky blue at Bull Run. But hey why be authentic?
@2006nationalchamps I'm still trying to figure out why there is a farby dead lady in this clip. I had A farby reb women run up to our company, and fire a pistol directly in our faces. Without hesitation, our 1st Sgt who is an ex marine bashed the pistol out of her hand with the butt of his musket. I for one will only be going to Authentic Campaigner approved anniversary events for the rest of the 150th cycle.
The field we had the battle on was actually cooler than the camp site. Anyone else notice that? I mean, yes, there was a breeze, but still. The field felt at least 10-15 degrees cooler.
@cblodg1 . Breeze @ 10 to 15 degrees cooler???.Lol, makes me think i shoulda gone to the fight. I was a part of the living history over at the henry house that weekend, Lordy was it hot, lol.
I wonted to do some of the same kinda filming on the sekend day of the batel, but wene I askt for permeshin to do this days befor the guy in my unit told me no be cuse I be caring a lowded wepin most of the time.I am weth the 11th CT C.V.I. co A.Wech is a little disuponting but what can do.But wene I wose thar cupel of the guy told me I cude sneek it if I wonted to,by hiding it in my jacket.but did not do eney ways heet reelayted ishus so thats it.Did get some of the camp thow I put it up.
i was wondering what kind of bug that was , hmm not only the ant but 10 million brown recuse spiders and chiggers and ticks to sleep with at night lol..
You didn't get ate up by red velvet ants laying there I hope. You have some great clips. The pile of dead and wounded in the foreground looked more like they were relaxing but it was blasted hot and whats a person to do. If we died they wouldn't let us stay down. The Rebs had to hate us. I actually was wounded (slightly). Freak shot. I fell dead and had a piece of that cut straw shoot straight up my nose! Bloody and hurt for a spell but better than a Red Velvet Ant wound!

i don't see very many people fallin' down. The rebs are just shootin' and shootin', but nobody falls down.

Yup, I agree. There were dozens of spiders in my tent. We were at the far end of the southern camp. The crickets I didn't mind so much.
But honestly, it was so damn hot that the bugs were the last thing you were thinking of.
