i have the same lathe and want to convert mine to cnc. where did you get your gear from to convert it.

@madhattercig I´m using the 2 axis kit from probotix, works great, and is very easy to install and configure

Every time the carriage stops just short of the headstock, my stomach turns and my adrenaline starts pumping. I've never crashed anything into the chuck, but I've seen some twisted hunks of steel that resulted from such an incident.

@davidlvann That was my concern first, but, after hundred of pieces I feel very confident, still, I always keep my hand in the e-stop button.
@rriosq could always make a carriage stop and fit it prior to hitting go? or even install a microswitch cut off...
I have a 7x14.. this looks good.
