I would think that the cotton would burn or something because the cotton is exposed directly by the heating element. I was think that you could take their pods, empty them, stuff them with the cotton and put the liquid in the pod.
@frogbmth The thing is I bought a Ploom yesterday but have not gotten it in my hands due to shipping time and I do not know if i will be the beta model like yours but I was looking around for alternatives just in case I hate the pods are the pods become hard to obtain. I already have two regular e-cigs and was looking for something different so I found this. I hope I have better luck with mine then you did.
Nice vid. Instead of silicon do you think a rubber gasket would work just as well?
People need to realize that the amount of vapor produced doesn't always necessarily mean it hits more then one that doesn't produce lots of vape. In fact when e-cigs first came out they were known as smokeless cigs & didn't produce any smoke effect whatsoever. Its the result of heat vaporizing the pg & vg. If nicotine were in another carrier that didn't produce a vapor, you'd still get a good dose of nicotine.
One quick question. The ploom is my first foray into e-cigarettes. I can't stand the pods. I'd like to try your mod but am wondering if it's worth it. Any opinions?
@frogbmth The way I see this mod is a much cheaper way to smoke because with e-cigs your always having to replace parts like atomizers and carts and sometimes batteries. I don't know how it is by you, but here a bottle of butane is cheap as hell and so are cotton balls. Your real spending will only be coming out of the e-liquid you purchase which I know can last awhile.
how hot does it get? i use a 510 for manufactured nicotin liquids and a iolite for herbs. its perfect for cannabis with its 190 grad celsius (374fahrenheit), but i think the iolits is too big. and the gas tank too small..
i couldnt find any information about the exact temperature on ploom home page. it just says it produces low temperature for vaporisation.
did u try it with dry herbs?
btw, i like ur reviews, but sometimes is the music too loud, so i can hardly understand u.. however, good work
Thanks, I had a stinking cold in these vids too so was a fair bit quieter lol and I try to frown out the noisy disk writer in my camcorder. Need an external mic.
I measure the ploom at 150C with a thermocouple so it would be no use for herbs. It is not much good for tobacco either. Probably why the nicotine hit is so poor! Ok for eliquid though. Andy
dude use a electronic cig, this ploom is a waste of money

@xXxSHOOPIExXx I found cotton in the pods didn't work well. The surface of the heat chamber only reaches 150C so organic cotton will not burn on it.

@kbsyt81 It is heaps better with the mod, but still not as good as a decent e-cig like the Vapor King or Janty eGo
