  • In this case the technique did work very well. There was no damage to the trolleypoles or the overhead wires. In the old days of the Solingen trolleybuses the didn´t have retrievers on the back of the trolleybus or pnuematic dewirement protection system. The latter system is used on the trolleybuses today and in this video.

  • Hope the lost poles didn't cause any damage to the overhead wires.

Well, the driver of the bus needs to be reprimanded for such mistakes, which should not be taken lightly.

  • Why? People make mistakes. I am a trolleybusdriver in The Netherlands. It has happened to me also. It can be quite as simple as the mistake this driver made. He drove into the wrong road. Do you never make a mistake?

(btw, the overhead wires a pretty strong. You wont believe how much a piece of 1 meter of overhead wire weights)

  • okay, easy. Maybe i overreacted a little and forgive me for that since i've never worked in this profession before.

  • @trolleystad and jemdude22

The lines 681 and 682 in Solingen don't turn around at their terminus at the railway station but they are connected to each other so the incoming bus goes further changing its route number. Both lines then meet each other in the town centre (this is where the video was made). So when the drivers reach this stop, they have to go in different directions every time, once going straight, once turning right. This makes easier to have a driver error. :)

  • @ice401557 Having been in such a sutiation some 4 times last year I wonder why buses are not equipped with GPS-style navigation.

  • awesome!
