  • The top comment has terrible fucking grammar. I aint not going to listen to none of that shit.

  • People who find this movie to be "epic" clearly don't know a bad movie when they see one. Yes, the visuals are beautiful. But the story line and script are absolutely horrific. Don't be fooled by the colors and scenery. Pay attention to the cliche characters and the terribly repetitive story line thats been used a thousand times over. Based on all of your shitty grammar, it seems like maybe you're all too young to comprehend the bullshit you've been fed.

  • @AllisonLaManna hello Allison if you think like that it's time to move over and let the next generation take your place!! / oh yes i'm only 53 and i thought Avatar was pretty f.....g good!! x

  • @MsRamones16 excuse me, the next generation? I'm only 18 years old...clearly the next generation contains me. The generation below me is far too young to understand good cinema. I am currently attending film school, I know my shit. Go watch Pocahontas and try and tell me its not the same exact story. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you which came first.

  • @AllisonLaManna you get them girlfriend mhm

  • Avatar is my Favorite movie in the whole world, idk when i see it i get chills

  • dose the blueray come with the entire movie...in the motion capture studio?

  • @TheAltair4

Don't forget King Kong 1933 also set the big standard for visual effects

  • @Johnlindsey289 And so did Metropolis (1927).

  • she did an amazing job! cant wait for star trek 2 and the avatar sequels!

  • E major?

  • The part where they show Zoe doing the part of yelling at Jake, and telling him that he'll never be one of them... That part in the movie never phased me much, but seeing Zoe's real facial expressions at that part, how much emotion she put into her voice, really struck a cord in me. @__@

  • @DeathNoteFan2

Hey DNF with your name being an anime fan, did you know Cameron is a fan of animation, anime, adult animation, euroanimation and Ghibli? there is some Ghibli nods in this movie mainly Castle in The Sky (aka Laputa) with the floating islands and the unobtanium is like the same crystal used in the film

  • @Johnlindsey289 I did not, but it's a very interesting thing to hear.~ I unfortunately have not had the privilege of watching Castle in The Sky yet.

  • zoe is my FAVORITE ACTRESS EVER!!!...

  • For anyone who loves this, any Avatar fans seen Princess Mononoke and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds? 2 excellent animated fantasy epics from Hayao Miyazaki and Ghibli that are faves among Cameron and he made nods to them in this movie. Cameron wrote the film in 1993 but had to wait until 2006 to film it because the technology wasn't right.

  • One of the best movies i've seen. :-bd

The 10 people who disliked don't know epic.

  • they made really good job!!!both zoe and sam!!!!because of this twilight something the rest of the movies not egsist!!!!everyone whos thinking that avatar is the best movie ever thumbs up!!!!

  • @raveneyes83 What?

  • It wasnt best movie I have ever seen, but I liked i. Nothing more, nothing less. Was fun to see it once in cinema, possibly gonna watch it @ bluray when its relased in 3D (not buing panasonic products just for this movie, Im pretty happy with my samsung 3d tv/bluray allready).

  • Are we really even THINKING anymore in this world? Kirsten Stewart won the award for best actress, and not Zoe? Fuck awards. They dont mean shit to me anymore, not even going to vote. The sooner the fucking twilight movies end, the better.

  • @Supremed9

Are you talking about the Peoples' Choice Awards or the MTV Movie Awards? Either way, you're right. They both suck.

But, so does the Oscars. They refused to let Zoe get a nomination, because she's in CGI make-up.

  • It is truly amazing and surprising the lengths they went to to make this movie. I love the dedication

  • @lukelovesrose

And Blade Runner is the Casablanca of Sci-fi movies as Akira is the Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs of Sci-fi movies because it's animated and groundbreaking.

  • Who thinks this improves over Zemeckis's CGI although Beowulf was an exception for it improved and was one of the best animated movies for adults ever.

  • @LukeLovesRose In closing, i will just state that Star Wars, whose characters and themes may not be as deep and meaningful as Avatar's, is, nevertheless, a truly epic and legendary piece of filmmaking that has yet to be equalled or surpassed purely in terms of technological achievement in the visual effects industry. Just because Avatar has more technologically advanced effects in it doesn't necessarily mean it's anywhere nearly as groundbreaking as Star Wars was when it first premiered.

  • @TheAltair4

Well i think Avatar is as groundbreaking as Star Wars and Matrix

  • @Johnlindsey289 I'm sorry, but i just don't agree. And even though i wasn't around myself to witness firsthand audiences very first reactions to Star Wars when it premiered i, nevertheless, have it on good authority that it was considerably stronger than audiences first reactions to Avatar and even The Matrix were. Everything i've stated thus far on this matter is not a biased opinion, but rather historic fact culled from the countless books i've read and documentaries i've seen on the subject.

  • @TheAltair4

How old was your big brother when he saw Star Wars as a kid? i mean you did got to see Return of the Jedi in theaters and the other two on video. I did saw Matrix 8 times in theaters when it came out, it was a mind blowing experience of seeing it at 17 as that was truly like anime come to life and the same for Avatar as Cameron paid tribute to Frank Herbert/Robert Heilein's novels and studio Ghibli movies with his newest masterpiece. He is gonna produce Cleopatra 3D next.

  • @Johnlindsey289 My brother was 4yrs old when he saw Star Wars and i was 3 when i saw Return of the Jedi in theaters. I saw The Matrix 6 times in theaters and i was pretty blown away by it myself as it really was like anime come to life on the screen. It was basically a cool live action version of GITS, which is my favorite anime of all time, second only to Akira, which was very similar to Blade Runner, my all time favorite sci-fi film and probably my #1 absolute favorite film of all time period.

  • @TheAltair4

Blade Runner is my fave movie of all time as well since i was 13 years old and it blew me away with it's characters, story, music and all that.

  • @TheAltair4

That's where my hatred for SW or most specifically, George Lucas is coming from.

He's basically a propped-up, dumber than shit, great marketing asshole version of Michael Bay.

  • @LukeLovesRose

SW rules and so does Avatar, let's not be a spoiled brat like you.

  • @LukeLovesRose Oh, come on already! Even i was disappointed with the prequels, but that doesn't mean that i thought any less of the original trilogy or George Lucas because of that. If anything they helped to make the originals look all the better. And a lot of people think that Cameron is equally as incompetent a filmmaker as Micheal Bay and a complete asshole to boot. And when did either Johh or myself ever once state that we thought Avatar sucked? You need to come down off of your high horse.

  • @TheAltair4

Jesus. Do I have to explain every opinion I have?? WHY??

Anyway, because Lucas suggested that Darth Vader is some whiny brat who didn't get what he wanted, instead of the ultimate fucking mass-murderer in the history of universe... yes, Lucas fucked up my entire outlook on the original trilogy. Vader is a pussy teenager in a breathing suit?? WTF??

  • @LukeLovesRose I don't prefer one over the other because i happen to think that Cameron and Lucas are equally great filmmakers even if you don't,so you can go right on sucking Cameron's cock all you want while trying to put down others who might have a different opinion than your own. Just try to bear in mind that Cameron was heavily influened by Lucas and Star Wars was one of the films that inspired him to become a filmmaker so Avatar probably would never have been made if it weren't for Lucas.

  • @TheAltair4

Um, the only influence Star Wars had on Cameron was maybe some of the technology used and just the fact that Cameron needed to get his ass in gear. As far as storytelling with Luke, Han and Leia, NO. That was not influential on Jim Cameron. Hell, if you do your research, 2001 made a much bigger impression on James Cameron than Star Wars... despite the fact that he thinks its kind of boring and stale... which it is.

  • @LukeLovesRose The technological influence SW had on Cameron was all i was talking about genius. And you're complaining about having to explain every opinion you have? lol. You're the one who started this whole debate with me, and it's obvious to me now that we're never going to reach any common ground on this subject so i see no point whatsoever in continuing it. You have your opinions and i have mine and there's really nothing either one of us can say that will change them, so why even bother?

  • @LukeLovesRose

What about Dune Luke? i mean the books not the film from 1984, that inspired both Star Wars and Avatar. Those books are awesome and original stuff.

  • @LukeLovesRose Well, other that the fact that you seem to have some kind of a personal biase against Mr. Lucas and his screenwriting abilities, you are, for the most part, correct in your assessment of why Star Wars was as successful as it was. However, the reason WHY all of the merchandise sold so well is because the film itself sold so well FIRST. And your constant ranting on the silly character and story cliches in the SW films is completely irrelevant to my argument anyway.

  • @TheAltair4

Sorry, but I will NEVER forgive George Lucas and his incompetence as a filmmaker for what he put me through and so many other fans in those god-forsaken prequels.

  • @LukeLovesRose

What about Willow, Labyrinth and Land Before Time or THX-1138? other good old school Lucas productions.

  • @TheAltair4

But, did you ever stop to think that that's all they are? There are no hidden depths in those characters. They are basically walking, talking action figures with smart quips. You can see that reaffirmed in the prequels. You've got the action figures, but without the funny quips. So... no life, no depth... basically just STUPID.

Despite what you might think, there is SO MUCH more to read into every Cameron character than Lucas's

  • @TheAltair4

LOL. Your father couldn't be as blown away by the effects shots in 2001?? Um, they were filmed just like the shots Lucas stole for Star Wars.

The only difference was that you have archetypes in Star Wars, treating each other with the same cool, comical relationship as Butch and Sundance. You have two men, play off each other with wisecracks. But this time, it's not in thw old west. It's in space with villains wearing black suits, looking like dark knights.

  • @TheAltair4

Right on and let's not forget The Matrix on it's groundbreaking bullet-time to CGI effects of the time? Independence Day even used great use of effects, Ghost in The Shell was the first animated movie to blend handdrawn animation with some Digital advanced animation in the background, Toy Story was the first all CGI animated movie and other effects milestones.

  • JAME CAMERON is a god movie maker

    1st terminator

    2th Abiss

    3thTitanic

    4th Avatar

He rarely makes movie...but when he make one you better get ennough spaces in your theater or your gonna be in the obligation to buils some more

    seriously he is a god

  • @soulblaser

What about True Lies and his production on Strange Days?

  • @cocolulugyaru

The hottest alien chick on film since Lifeforce's space vampiress, Lee the centerfold bounty hunter from Critters 2, Sil from Species, Cheetara from Thundercats or whatever alien hottie there is.

  • Fab movie, loves it! seeing this a bunch of times in theaters made me have hope for movies and a new future for it. I can't wait for the sequels and the novel, too bad the Playstation 3 game was disappointing but who would kill for some Avatar graphic novels from Dark Horse? I WOULD! i want Dark Horse to do graphic novels and comics based this epic movie.

  • I'm so glad Cameron put these actors through the real thing (the rain forest). I mean, does anyone remember the stale, lifeless acting in the SW prequels? They had no idea what kind of environments they would be placed in. Here, at least the actor can imagine everything they saw and experienced in the jungle. And if you look at the "Capturing Avatar" special feature on the Avatar: Extended Collector's Set, you'll see how much of their performances made it to the screen. You'll be like OMG.

  • @LukeLovesRose

Yes i do, now films like this, Lord of the Rings and the original Matrix all use great acting and good CGI effects plus real backgrounds well mainly for Avatar and Lord of the Rings. I own the Extended Collector's set already and the extras were mind-blowing you just want to smile big time, do you think the Na'vi are as believable as Gollum or PJ's own King Kong creature and less Jar-Jar? besides there will be a better prequel coming soon called The Hobbit than SW.

  • @LukeLovesRose I couldn't agree more. A lot of people have criticized this movie for being just another overblown cgi puppetshow like the Star Wars prequels when it simply isn't the truth. As James Cameron himself stated in the documentary, the Navi cgi animation was used as an advanced, state of the art form of makeup for the actors who were actually delivering the fully fleshed out performances that you see in the finished film themselves. They've certainly come a long way since Jar Jar Binks.

  • @TheAltair4

Well at least in Episode 1, Yoda was a puppet. What about Lord of the Rings? do you think Avatar's CGI animation and effects are on par with the trilogy on the creatures including Gollum? it's the same company.

  • @Johnlindsey289 True, but for some reason even the puppet they used in Episode 1 just wasn't quite as cool or as realistic looking as the one used in Empire and Jedi. The Lord of the Rings trilogy and King Kong were the films that had to be made in order for Avatar to become a reality, as ILM and WETA digital are truly at the forefront of state of art cgi effects in the film industry, and Avatar's effects are definitely a step up from them. Avatar 2&3 are no doubt going to be truly mindblowing.

  • @TheAltair4

WETA is now king. I think this could be the new Star Wars trilogy don't you think and almost on par with Lord of the Rings? Cameron is also working on producing a 3D Cleopatra movie, producing including doing a story for the upcoming new Heavy Metal animated movie, producing Guillermo Del Toro's At The Mountains of Madness, producing Fantastic Voyage and directing/writing/producing Battle Angel Alita.

  • @Johnlindsey289 Yeah, Cameron certainly seems to have his hands full right now. lol. I think Avatar could very well be the Star Wars for the new millenium even though it isn't anywhere nearly as groundbreaking as Star Wars was when it was first released back in 1977, and no movie probably ever will be. Avatar is, however, the most groundbreaking movie since Jurassic Park in terms of visual effects, and it's certainly on par, if not even a little better, than The Lord of the Rings and King Kong.

  • @TheAltair4

He's even producing the True Lies TV show. He's now King of the World like he said on his awards speech, he spent his years since 1994 waiting for the technology of Avatar to happen until he finished watching the LOTR trilogy in theaters as it was possible for the technology to evolve quickly.

  • @TheAltair4

Avatar wasn't as ground-breaking as Star Wars? Explain.

As far as technology, Stanley Kubrick used models just as beautifully as Lucas 10 years earlier in 2001. When you throw archetypes like Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia into the unfamiliar and give them lightsabers, people drool. But, a filmmaker does almost the same thing... while advancing the way actors are shot and environments are shot like no other film before, people attack. How sad.

  • @LukeLovesRose 2001 was the first major milestone in visual effects wizardry, to be sure, but the shots, while realistic and very impressive to look at, where somewhat static overall as they had no real life or energy to them.Lucas took the effects one step further by giving the spacecrafts geniune speed and energy, which was much more exciting and involving for audiences as they could now not only see the spectacle, but also feel as though they were an actual participant in the action on screen.

  • @TheAltair4

Willow and The Abyss gave audiences the unique technique of morphing unlike no one has ever seen before.

  • @Johnlindsey289 Those are all really great examples as well.I really wish i had been there to experience Star Wars in all of it's full glory upon it's original theatrical release though. My brother told me it was the most incredible and truly awe inspiring filmgoing experience of his entire life.I got to see Return of the Jedi in theaters at least, and i vividly remember that wonderful experience. But the first film to really knock me out of my theater seat as a kid was the amazing Jurassic Park.

  • @TheAltair4

Without Williams, Star Wars could've easily made everyone laugh, however unintentionally. I mean, the film was partly inspired by Flash Gordon and you can see it all over the movie. That's why Mr. Salesman Lucas engineered his own film contract before the filming started in which it states that he can market the film and the merchandise himself. He's basically after the sales of toys, shirts, cups, sheets, etc. That's it.

Yes, Luke, Han, Leia and the others are cool. BUT...

  • @LukeLovesRose

Well Luke SW was also influenced by Kurasowa's Hidden Fortress/Seven Samurai/Yojimbo, Frank herbert's awesome Dune novels (Must reads for any fan of the SW movies), Metropolis (1927 silent classic) and 50's comic books. You can also say the same for Avatar being influenced by Dune, Japanese animation, Carter of Mars novel, Star Wars Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa and even Heavy Metal comic magazine according to Cameron.

  • @TheAltair4

As far as the effects, you are being biased for saying all modern movie effects were started by Star Wars. Yes, the man provided filmmakers with ILM, THX and Skywalker Sound. That doesn't make him god. He also gave us Jar Jar Binks, Ewoks and swinging monkeys with Shia LaBeouf. lol. The man never had as much talent in his whole body as Cameron has in his pinky.

I can easily argue why Star Wars sold and took off so well. John Williams is one of the biggest reasons. Without him...

  • @LukeLovesRose

Originally Jerry Goldsmith was going to be composer to Star Wars but dropped so Williams was hired and a good thing for HE MADE THE Star Wars theme, Goldsmith is still an awesome composer. Yes Jar Jar is sort of a CGI Pauly Shore don't you think Luke?

  • @LukeLovesRose The world we live in now is very different from the one we lived in back in 77,and everyone was completely blown away by the level of realism in Star Wars effects when it first premiered. My father told me that the very first shot of the film was so spectacaular that it literally took his breath away, something that Avatar's effects simply couldn't do due to the fact that everyone is just so used to seeing big, spectacular effects sequences, so we now tend to take them for granted.

  • @TheAltair4

I agree Thealtair4, people in 1977 were blown away and it was once the former highest grossing movie of that period before E.T. came along and everyone were amazed by the visual trickery and imagery of the film including the storyline. Watching it on video when i was 3 years old gave me a sense of awe and wonder of how did they do that, same goes for other childhood faves like Dark Crystal, Wizard of Oz, Ghostbusters and others on their amazing imagery and effects.

  • @TheAltair4

You have the CLASSIC and very cliche damsel in distress (Leia), am I wrong?

The only difference here is you're right. People like you are taking Avatar and its master filmmaker, James Cameron for granted. Instead of Lucas, did you see the same HUGE toy marketing campaign that we saw for Star Wars?? NO. Did the game sell? NO. Is the film itself selling? HELL YES.

Do you know how many copies Avatar sold compared to any of the Star Wars prequels?? I bet anything, Avatar pwned..

  • This Movie kicked So much ass!

  • This is my favorite movies of all time!!! I am so amazed how they did everything! And the actors we absolutely wonderful!!! I am looking forward to seeing these actors in more fantastic movies.

  • Exacly actors will not be in couple of years from now, computers taking over your roles lol.

  • just look how serious they are while diong their work!! absoluteley amazing!! Zoe Zaldana is one of the best actors i ever saw!!

  • sam worthington is amazing in this movie too....he is freakin HOT

  • seriously, zoe should have won best actress. after seeing how they made the movie and what she had to learn, i am really pissed at kristen stewart for winnig best actress. ARG

  • @toniekid I totally agree. She was A-MA-ZING.

  • @toniekid Kristen Stewart didn't earn that reward. Come one, Zoe did so much better for the role in this movie.

  • @i0like0u i no! GR

  • @i0like0u -I still like Kristen Stewart, though, ever since I saw her in Panic Room I said: 'This kid's got spunk! She's gonna be big, one day!' I predicted the same with Scarlet Johansen after seeing The Horse Whisperer...

    -But Zoe, methinks, reigns supreme!

  • @toniekid

Me too! Kristen is too damned wooden.

  • @toniekid If Kristen Stewart won best actress, the world is ending as we know it.

  • @toniekid WTF KRISTEN STUERT WON BEST ACTRESS?????? she sucks! she can't act!

  • Zoe was AMAZING in this film..... Its great seeing a Latina doing her thing.... She's great, I Love her!!!!!

  • I think one thing when I saw this vdo :

zoe is sexier in blue ^^'

  • best movie ever!!! i love the whole idea behind it because this is imperialism, this is what happened to so many nations when they have resources imperialists want and the way its portrayed in this movie is so lovely.

  • ♥Wow Zoe is the best♥

  • :O :D

    AMAZING MOVIE!!!!

  • I think Zoe saldana should have at least been nominated for best actress at the academy awards. I mean Sandra bullock? Really? C'mon Oscar!

  • It deserved to win Best Picture, Best Director. It deserved to be nominated for Best Actress (Zoe) and YES, BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY

  • @LukeLovesRose It Deserved to be everything but wors movie!

  • @LukeLovesRose

Me too, me too! But be thankful for the Golden Globes for best picture and other awards even Saturn awards for best picture. How many times did you saw this baby in theaters? i have stated a bunch of times on every Avatar video 12 times in both 2D and 3D while 2 times in the special edition re-issue. There's now some Avatar fan forums, i should visit them and join them.

  • @LukeLovesRose

I agree too, it's been a thing that the academy overlooked. What the hell is it with the Dances with Wolves in space crap Luke? just what the hell is it? it's similar but if you ask me, it's really more influenced by Frank Herbert's brilliant influential Sci-fi masterpiece of a novel known as Dune. You should rent the Dune movies such as the 1985 attempt by David Lynch, the 2000 mini-series and it's excellent superior sequel Children of Dune and you'll see similarities

  • mais les éffet spéciaux et l'imagination de toute cette flore c'est alucinan

  • That movie is fucking epic

  • If you are interested in avatar 2 then come check out my channel

  • I just finished watching the movie and it blew me away. I was one of those hold outs that thought it was going to be crap because it looked strange but little did I know.....now I cant stop raving about it. Cast me in the next one is all I'm saying lol XD FANTASTIC MOVIE

  • avatar should have one an oscar no doubt

  • what is the Hurt Locker? I have never even heard that title before!

  • Has anyone even heard of The Hurt Locker before the whole Avatar vs. Hurt Locker oscar battle?

  • Excellent movie! I really loved it. To me that was truly Best Picture at the Oscars. But they chose Hurt Locker instead. Though when it comes to Avatar being such a praised movie, in terms of award nominations, I don't trust MTV since last year. Last year the true winner of MTV was The Dark Knight, but instead they chose HSM3 and Twilight. I tell you one thing. MTV is for pre-teen girls and their poor judgment of movies.

  • i rather go to pandora then going to heavon!

  • WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!

I believed in the Na'vi until Dr Foster.

    LONG LIVE THE NA'VI

  • @smartymarty WhatTheF*ck lol

  • Zoe kicks but! You go girl!!

  • this is so awsome that they have created avatar with no make up and animation...............its all acted out and the face are the actors.......................they are so awsome and now we know not everything is animated..................

  • I think Avatar lost because the director of Hurt locker was Cameron's ex-wife. Its their issues.

For me Avatar - the best movie of this year. no dout.

  • @Shniager88 you might just be rite on that

  • best Movie EVER

Saw her in death at a funeral, hilarious! :D

  • this movie was amazing

  • zoe saldana showed up and owned this entire movie.

  • love it just love it!!!

  • So that is how the animation was SOOOO realiastic!

  • @1Penguinz

Up there with the animation in Lord of The Rings Trilogy eh?

  • Three Oscars for THIS MOVIE is a travesty. Snubbing Zoe Saldana was also WRONG.

    Just saying....

  • @LukeLovesRose they always snub actors just because they played a digital character, they don't take into account the physical acting that they do to create it. Andy Serkis was brilliant as Gollum, but if he wasn't a digital character he totally would have been nominated. Gollum and Neytiri are fantastic characters played by great actors (both of them really should have been nominated for their work) but most people don't seem to realize that they do more than just a voice.

  • @LukeLovesRose

I agree to Luke, Zoe Saldana is the hottest black actress in recent memory to turn us white guys on that i would even bone her badly. She was perfect for the role and i bet you think she did a great performance just like Andy Serkis is to Gollum.
