In '91 he gave 30K of his winnings to the family of a man killed by lightning in the car park. The family used the money to pay for his two daughters to go through school which they did and now work as healthcare professionals. What a shame that we don't hear this kind of stuff about JD. He's a character and this great game misses characters nowadays!
Yes sir. We love JD, no matter how much he gambles or drinks. Shame on all the asshole press reporters who get on his back for bullshit. John's the man.
I agree with you mate. I'm english and don't know a hell of a lot about Daly, but it seems he gets a lot of shit for his vices, and that's all they are - vices, we all have them. In the UK, we seem to treat criminals better than the treatment this guy gets sometimes. To me he seems like a nice, down to earth guy who has done some good work for charity, and is a great character for the game.
people will still pay for Dalys endorsement. He draws the crowds and he never fails to entertain. Too bad more golfers don't have JD's laid back easy-going style. They did in the past but not now. That is what corporate golf has done. Stripped players of personality. Keep rockin' Big John!

John Daly, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, and Bill Murray would be the ultimate group to golf with.
