  • Time is not our friend... Time steals from me everyday as I struggle to live up to my personal expectations.

  • I think this song is so wonderful..where would anyone be if we didn't have our dreams...

  • What did John say to Letterman at the end???

  • substance and soul not easily found anywhere. Songs like this help you to take a step back in time and dream, then take a step forward and look at life from a different perspective.

  • great performance! I wish you all would read of an idea to save it all at .johnpnts.wordpress.

  • Dig it. Love this guy.

  • great lyrics, great voice, great JOHN

  • THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL, John!

  • 1 person didn't take the time to really listen...

  • @sonofasaylor Your a fuckwit.

  • The engineering on the album is rather strange as John tried to recreate some older style recordings which inspire him. The effect in some ways diminishes the music. I'm trying to listen to the album but the effects are distracting... Love themusic; hate the recording. I'd rather listen to YouTube.

  • @fish4free1 I completely get that. Love the songs but the mono recording gets muddy.

  • This is like an old classic song -- might have been written by Woody Guthrie. Nice to see David Letterman so obviously blown away and gracious, and lovely to see the gracious way John Mellencamp accepted the compliment. Beautiful clip.

  • @sallygal7 Dave has very cool taste in music. No Better Than This is one of the greatest albums I've heard in the last 10 years.

  • Wooo Hooo Here we go again John with an awesome sound...lyrics...& of course you!! Lots of success on your NO BETTER THAN THIS tour...Lots of Love & Peace from all of us...John...thanks for all the yrs. of memories! You keep gettin' better & better...wow! I simply love this song!! Your stage presence...the way you move!

Please keep on rockin' for us!! Way to go John!

  • an absolute master of music. one of the greatest artist of all time.

  • More people need to see this. Some of the best lyrics I've ever heard.

  • @gdarr1029 I totally agree. John is an amazing singer songwriter. That song moves me in so many ways.

  • Dear: lisaadamson123: I'm glad you agree with me. Yeah, I honestly think that John's latest will be an album that I will always picking up to play as the years go on. It's so real. I was sorry to hear that John and his wife are slitting. But, it shouldn't surprise me. I thought it was so funny in the Letterman interview, when John was questioned about his continued smoking that he said that his family doesn't like him anyway. He was so matter of fact about it. Funny guy.

  • Holy crap, I almost cried like a baby listening to this. Wish the real song was like this - just him and the guitar. Would love this version on mp3.

  • Better than ever, like John Prine.

  • @shimmy1952 I also thought of John Prine when I first heard this. And, yes, better than ever.

  • @shimmy1952 Yeah, perfect comparison. Simple and heartfelt.

  • he's single again... I've been waiting John ;) Great song, great songwriter

  • i love this whole damn cd.

  • I was in a trance while watching this live on Letterman last week....just a powerful song from one of the all-time great voices..he's doing some of his best work as he gets older...

  • Incredible stuff John....born and raised in Southern Indiana, your lyrics still hit home! This one brought a tear to my eye man! We love ya...from Floyds Knobs, Indiana.

  • Drove through John's hometown not long ago, Seymour Indiana. A town's person waived to me as I left the small downtown section...I traveled those rural routes on my way back to Ohio playing JM's music. Respect.

  • This was awesome. I just hope John doesn't get lung cancer one day, Dave was busting his balls about smoking lol...you're the greatest John...

  • Save some time to dream, indeed! What a beautiful, poignant, powerful lyric!

  • Great, great performance! Just like fine wine, John Mellencamp gets better with age.

  • @estreetbill A GREAT PERFORMER FROM MY HOME STATE OF INDIANA .LIKE U SAID JUST LIKE FINE WINE GETS BETTER WITH AGE JUST LIKE JON BON JOVI..

  • Playing for keeps, indeed! For as many times as I've seen him perform this song, John never fails to inspire me.

  • I dream , and thank you i think some of my dreams are for the people i can only dream to help , If i had a million i would defenitly help others. I think I have a home and food, and clothing others I could help because thats what it is all about

  • Thank you John Mellencamp im an Indiana girl , and loved watching you on Letterman!
