  • 3.09.....what effect you using?.....

  • @malandradentro Sounds like Protoss Dragoon ^.^

  • @malandradentro Probably the Jigsaw one hahaha.

  • Never mind the whiners; this video was just what I wanted. A first impression of this machine and what it sounds like straight from the box without endless screenshots of menu's and parameters. Enjoyed this - thanks!

  • Top lan bu.

  • Can you play sound directly from MiDi out of your computer speakers in real time? Or do you have to record and play it back??? PLEASE SOMEONE ANSWER THIS FOR ME!

  • You got that off of musicians friend, didn't you?

  • What a queeeeer

  • Super:10/10.

  • There are MUCH better Microkorg vocoders on YouTube.

I'm usually pretty positive when reviewing, but this...dude...c'mon....this was lame.

  • you need an amp right?

  • that's L.. YAAAAY!!

  • WHAT A GAY FAG!

  • Great video :D I'm about to buy microkorg xl so good to see some samples :D Anyway what stereo do you use for this? What would be good for it?

  • 0:22 HAHAHAHAH

  • I was just messin' with one of these at the Sam Ash Music store at the Cherry Hill mall in Camden county NJ.

I found out that there are 2 different vocoder effects capabilities. The "big dial" setting at B88 is one of them. There is also a seperate button just below the window that allows you to put vocoder on some (but not all) of some of the other sounds

  • 2:30 CRYSTAL CASTLES HA!

  • nice!

you look like some character from the sims..

  • can you use the vocoder with the non vocoder patches? like the piano?

  • C'est chouette ce que tu fait, encore bravo de la part de Didier de la belgique.

  • Can I MIDI the MicroKorg XL or connect it's inputs to an external sound source or sampler/workstation such as the MV-8000 or 8800 and create my own awesome original sounds? I'm not sure whether I need this or not but I like what I've seen so far. It looks like a hell of a good time.

  • someone is having WWWWAAAAAYYY to much fun...lol

  • if you freeze frame @ 1:01 he looks like he has down syndrome. LOL spookay!

  • hehe thanks for demoing this! :) Yay for the wow shirt too.

  • HI! This is what happens when you get stuff from the store and start playing with it. You need to get back to practicing your scales on the piano, and stop talking to yourself. Thanks for the demo. LOL!

  • Can I connect this to my computer to record it with audcaity via USB?

Also is this better than the microkorg?

One last thing, is this any good for drum and bass, pendulum - enter shikari style stuff, can I make my own original sounds?

  • @andrew3327820

yes you can use this for dnb,and ofcourse you can create your own synths

  • at least you didnt do daft punk...seriously theres like two videos showing off the vocoder that dont use that fucking stronger song as the example

  • does it require amp to be heard? or can it play without

  • Play some daft punk!

  • YAAYYY :)

  • thank you youtube for giving us millions of chubby, head-set wearing people to look at and laugh about

  • 0:25...

  • Kool sounds man! Vocoder technology has come a LONG WAY from the '70s as has the price. Who cares if the keys and case are "plastically"? -- REALLY! DEVO would have loved this synth in their early days (they still around BTW?) Hey, has anyone ever farted into this thing? Oh yes, is that your room in your mommy's house? -- Just sayin.

  • that is realy so awesome i gonna buy me one tomorrow!!

  • Peter Howell used a vocoder on his "Greenwich Chorus" theme for "The body in Question". When this was aired, the British public had never heard anything like it and the BBC switchboard was jammed! In those days only places like the BBC or BT had a vocoder.

  • hahaha i was cracking up the whole of this video...

  • So excited-- I just got a MicroKorg XL-- can't wait to play around with it! And I'm about as much of a pro as you so we'll see how it goes...hahahah!!

  • i love your voice XD

  • loving the WoW shirt.. you represent that shit man!

  • Vocoder I made: GaaaaaaAAAAAAYYYYYyyyyeeeee

  • love it man! gonna get one now and thanks.

  • You need a PC to do it? or only the Microkorg?

  • I just got an XL and was wondering how to only get the vocoder when recording? I always get my voice as well when I record it on the PC.

  • @VGEric Shit, just figured it out.... something was screwy with the XL...

  • looks good...nice demo

  • i have one question, does vocoder on KORG R3 have same vocoder presets as microkorg?

  • LOL !

  • ooh notbad man I'm gonna get me one of these, cheers for putting the vid up :)

  • can some one kill this faggot

  • Thanks for uploading, very helpful video

  • yeah.. the mk got a lot less attractive while watching this video... it's still such a sexy machine..

  • well done nerdy guy :P good video (y) what wer the settings u used 4 the first sound?

  • are this all default patches?

  • I want a microkorg xl but they cost a lot. Just out of curiousity, does it have an...auto-tuner?

  • how the hell did I miss spell curiosity?

  • no but i know where you can get one for free.

  • this is the death of autotune.

  • That sounds beautiful. To be honest I just wanted an auto-tuner to make some stupid videos.

  • good, people who use auto-tune need to find some talent

  • true

  • dude this is basically the same thing. this just changes your voice even more than autotune.

  • i know, i love the sound of vocorders and autotuning (IN MODERATION!) but this is different people who use auto tune are cheating themselves and their fans out of a real performance. That is not to say no-one should use it because like a vocorder, in moderation i sounds cool. but you shouldn't be attempting to sing if you cant without the assistance of autotuning

  • i just think you cant really bash one with out bashing the other too. i love them both too just because they both give like a robotic sound.

  • @rhcp00001, some people use it if they are in electronica bands though, as thats the theme, i can name alot of good singers who use auto tune yet can sing extremeley well without it. It's not to help youre voice, it's to add effect to the music.

  • @Plus44OneEighty2 no i agree i love it in electronic music and when it's used on people who actually can sing, my problem with it, and i've heard music producers say the same thing, is that there are people who never would be in a band or sing if they didnt have the ability to make themselves sound good

  • @rhcp00001, Yeah well i guess that's true, I dislike it when people rely on autotune and vocoders who can't sing well, But even then, if thats how they want their voice to sound and thats why their using it, not just for the fact they can't sing. Then i guess they can...

  • @rhcp00001 this isn't autotune, it's a vocoder, completely different.

  • @synthplaya it seems i'll never escape that comment, I know the difference between the two which is why i said "auto-tune", not "vocoders"

I love vocoders, i really wish i had one

  • @rhcp00001 ahhh ok and yes, i plan on getting a microkorg soon :D

  • no auto tune is a software program just get gsnap instead its free

  • It Says It Has One But I Think They Mean SOmthing Else, I Havn't Seen One Yet, Jesus...When Are They Going To Make An Auto-tune Pedal?

  • TC electronics has a couple, Digitech as well I think

  • do you know how to use this in fl studio 8. i wanna record a melody but i want to use the original sound from the keyboard

  • Lol this guy is so weird! Is that a bad thing? I dunno

  • nice shirt :)

  • so can this keyboard be used as a midi controller too? or are you stuck with the sounds on it?

  • You can use it as a MIDI controller. It's got MIDI IN and MIDI OUT jacks as well as a USB port (use the software included).

  • Comment removed

  • does this keybored have different sound effects for your voice? example: the band breathe carolina. their voices are somewhat like this.

  • Unfortunately it's pretty limited, but I'm still a noob at this so I could be totally unaware of its true potential. There's no reverb on it though, I had to run it through a separate box to do that.

  • ZOMG!!!!! i love breathe carolina!!!

  • same :)

  • Hey, im thinking about getting the Microkorg xl but does anyone know how i can use the sound on it on Reason 4. Some one reply please. Thanks!

  • It's an audio output unfortunately, so you'd need record your riff/vocoder part in your DAW (logic, pro tools ,cubase or whatever you use) Then export it as a wav/aiff. It's best then to chop it up in recycle if you have it. Otherwise you have to put the sound in an NN19 and you have little control of the sample! ...or (like me) wait for record to come out next month. Then you can input the microkorg directly! :D hope that helped

  • lol wow shirt.

gonna buy me a microkorg xl too btw. it's my first step from piano/keyboard to an actual synth. good choice?

  • It's pretty decent as a portable keyboard, but he keys can be a tad too small, especially if you have large fingers!

  • How would you describe the design quality of the synth? It looks kinda cheap.

  • I admit it's a bit plasticky, and the keys don't have that semi-weighted feel as you'd find on a more fuller-sized keyboard, but it's not too bad. I think it's a matter of user preference in this case.

  • Perhaps they intended to make it plasticky in order to make it as light-weighted as possible.

  • @Cable3999 I was sceptical at first, but then when I tried it I fell in love.

  • If you were creative you could use the vocoder try music with it and be creative...you will find a differnt outcome...I think it sound good.

  • Great Demo!!!

i really like the black hole preset one of my favorite .

    Peace ,

    Zoomex

  • thnks very good demo, exactly what I needed a clear vocoder dmonstration

  • it's all vocoder effects?

  • Nope! I was just focusing on the vocoder feature on the MK XL. There's more to it than that!

  • if you just want to talk, hold shift and press vocoder. You get clean audio from the mic straight though.

  • Cool! Thanks for the tip! (still a newb)
