I played it in Drop D. Ive had others tell me Eb as well but D fits so I wont mess with it.

@tjeeta12 not really, iv gotten jazzy tones out of his guitar. If you mess with the setup a little, it will produce great jazz, blues, and of course metal tones.

if by special strings you mean strings on the guitar. no you dont need special ones just remember that the higher the guage (which is determined by the high e string) the thicker the strings so it will be harder to bend notes. and sustain depends on a number of factors. the type of wood the is guitar, the pickups, amp settings, and the amp itself.
