yep it's true JRT's are hard to train but that's only because they are very stubborn dogs. Once you figure out what your JRT likes for a reward it's all easy from there. Our Lady loves Chicken or Turckey...so I treat her with real chicken or turckey from there it's pretty easy....JRT's love to learn and will be hard to handle if you don't exercise that litle brain of their's :-)

My Jack Russell is only 7 weeks or so old and I have only managed to teach him how to sit lol. I am trying to teach to him to give me his paw but he just doesn't seem to be getting the drift.

@bax450 It takes time, espec with JRs, just simply lift his paw, praise him give him the treat, then once he's got that, do the same but add the command 'paw' or 'shake', then finally start just handing your hand out saying paw and assoon as he puts his paw up praise and treat. (:

Thats amazing! you must have spent a lot of time training her ^^ i had to work hard to get my jack russel to be obedient and to trust me enough to train him tricks (no violence ofc but it does get frustrating when he's being stubborn, takes time =p) great dogs, so much personality and intelligence its unbeliveable.

My Jack russell can do 2 more tricks than this one!! I will make a video. Believe it or not, this is impressive, Jack Russell Terriers, In my opinion, are not that smart. COmpared to the other dogs I have had, German Shepards, Poodles etc.

that was NEAT! my sis has a jack and they tought her the "bang" and the dog plays dead except she would spin & twitch on the floor then sit back up and my sis would do it again and several 'bangs' later I said to 'aim' a little lower because she was hitting the dog in the head...I thought my sis was going to pass out from laugthing so hard..

Nice training! You should teach her the Staples Easy Button. My Russell Terrier pushes the button for treats. See it here on YouTube. I am sure your girl could learn that too and it is sooo cute.
