Good question...the answer is no.

If you are using a snatch block to pull around corners, then it is considered a straight pull and you are not putting extra load on your cable.

If you are using a snatch block to double your pulling power, then you must run your cable through the snatch block and then back to your anchor point.

As you now have doubled your cable, you have doubled your load capacity and halved your speed. Hope that helps!!

If my come along is 4 tons and I want to use extra cable for a snatch block, should my extra cable be 8 tons?

It is an awesome winch, and it is almost made in the USA...it is made in Canada EH!

Why do they use dead dried up logs....I want to see them pull a green live oak log or something we know has the weight to it...

@jjssccpphhdd Actually they are not dried up logs...OK maybe the telephone poles are a little on the dry side, but they are treated so they are still heavy. The big logs are Mesquite so they are very heavy and dense. The whole lot was scaled so the weight is pretty accurate...by the way the Lewis Winch could have easily pulled the whole lot up a steep incline. Have a look at the March addition of Popular Mechanics, you'll see how they pull large logs up very steep incline using Lewis Winch.
