I felt the performance was a departure from the score, especially in "And all the people rejoiced". It was sung stacatto whereas, according to the score, was supposed to be sung legatto.

For the tempo: remember this is only the background noise for the anointing and therefore the 2 important actors archbishop and new souvereign dictate the speed. Form follows function and the choir has to follow the anointment performance, not otherwise.

@JesusFreakDK This looks like a Russian painted icon done in Baroque stile and it depict Jesus Christ (see from abreviations IC [Isus}] XC [Hristos] just above His shoulders). What is written above it is Svedrzitelj (the literal translation would be from the church slavonic One who holds everything together) Greek would be Pantokratoros meaning One who rules over everything. I hope this is enough

The genius of this piece of music is its utter simplicity (almost as if a child had written it), a beautiful build up leading us to the very dramatic intro on the D. Sparse libretto and the obscure biblical text that had allegorical overtones.Wonderful!

Yes, this piece tells us the story of Salomon's annointment. However, this song is written for the coronation of the king of Britain. Since I'm not jewish, British nore am I a fan of the Old Testament, I chose pictures of the one and only true King. The first few pictures were Salomon and Zadok... There just aren't enough pictures of Old Testament figures online...

@qwosters The Church clearly states that we should not follow the OT as strictly as the Jewish people, for the new revelations made by Christ are the true gospels. I know not even one fellow-christian, who e.g. doesn't eat shrimp ore doens't wear nylon just because the OT doesn't allow him to. The rules made up in the OT are not relevant any more for today's christians.

If that makes me a heretic in the eyes of a Jew, so be it. I'm christian, and probably a better one than you.
