  • I think the sh*t slinging here is completely bull. One of the things I like most about JM's playing is that he has distinct guitar voice. There are thousands of players that lack their own style. JM lines up in the ranks of BB King, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix because of this. Not because he's an important guitarist, but because he's a product of what all those aformentioned players inspired and how great that is for current music and guitar players. The short of it, John Mayer fucking rules!

  • @Wyldelyfe yeeeeeeep ;)

  • I don't understand what's all the hype about this guy, seriously I've spend my entire life listening to hundreds of blues songs from (Al)bert King to (Z)Z Top, he ain't nothing but a copy cat, mixing licks from other great players, there's nothing original about his blues. You gotta feel the blues to really play it and come up with something original, just as Billie Holidays when she was singing or when Jimmy Hendrix was playing.

  • @StrangeluvDr - I like the fact that he's a younger guy playing the blues - but yeah he has nice chops but they are a mix of SRV with some BB.. nothing new here

  • @StrangeluvDr yah he should be more like srv and completley steal a solo from albert king

  • Haha, at 1:35 im pretty sure he puts on a capo and starts to play jimmy vaughan licks and then takes it off at 2:12 and switches back to srv. Awesome!

  • 0:00 to 1:19 = SRV

    1:20 to 1:37 = Albert Collins

1:38 to 2:12 = (if im not wrong) jimmy vaughan

  • Brilliant :)

  • @mbasketcballb it is an improv song, but his licks are similar to empty arms by srv

  • @mayermusic1092 thank you i was looking for the name of it all yesterday!

  • @ybiawl83 it's a bit like empty arms.

  • @mbasketcballb it has licks of a SRV song but i cant quite rememeber what song it is. i do know that it is an improv off that song

  • I'd love to see JM go back to the John Mayer Trio style of stuff. Hopefully he will in about 2-3 years...that'd be hot.

  • god...

  • This guy's a genius

  • great stuff john !

  • ahhhh, so sweet!

  • cool blues intro man! john is no doubt to rock on a fender stratocaster guitar!!!

    soulful blues dude!

  • john mayer rocks and there is no other artist that compares to this soon to be legend!

  • I agree 1000000%!

  • SRV is tha GOD and JM knows that !

  • okay well except SRV And Jimi.

  • And Eric Clapton.

  • him too!!! we'll just say all the greats. there are so many people we could all name off live eddie van halen, jimmy page. all those guys :D

  • And Joe Bonamassa, Rory Gallagher, BB King, Albert King, Gary Moore, Robben Ford, Jeff Beck. Okay I forgot too many.

  • Let's just say he's the treasure of this generation. :D

  • @TheSuspiciousBand

This piece of music does not have anything to do with SRV and his style, you better know that!

  • @hipeoplr

I agree that Mayer is a soon to be legend of our generation, but there are certainly a few that compare...Joe Bonamassa for one. Either way Mayer is absolutely nasty!

  • Fucking bitchin great stuff.... I dont know where you get this from... but I'd definetely like to hear more... especially stuff from around his early days in his band villa nova junction....
