I think many of the doomsday theories surround this device are unfounded. The likelihood of something (Other than the LHC melting) going catastrophically wrong like in Half Life is minimal. The machine is designed to create and observe miniature collisions which would barely be enough to drain the battery to your wristwatch before they shut themselves down. We had the same fears with the Trinity Tests igniting the atmosphere

mmmkay. i read the first 9 comments and they were eerily similar. Let me get this straight...the first nine people say they completely trust this man because he is an accomplished scientist. You people do know he has a vested interest in keeping this project alive, right? You know who funds most of his research? The government, hell, multiple governments. Not to mention, private companies. Let me give you a small example: Scientists said cigarettes did not cause cancer about 40 years ago.

You mean only one scientist claimed that cigarettes cause cancer? He (forgot his name) was bought by the cigarette industry as their spokesperson. He recently created an online questionnaire to try and get other scientists to agree with him. However, the online survey was set up so that anyone can sign their name and they would be classified as a leading scientist. Get your facts straight fuckwit!
