Missed by a mile, completely wrong, how long will u believe the false, By 1994 in Rwanda there was no 1 000 000 Tustis. How were a million Tustis killed then. where did they come from? There was genocide on both sides Tustis & Hutus. How about the 6 million Congolese killed too? aren't they people? who knows about them, & who cries for them? Our turn will come, Wait it's written that "no kingdom without completion" soon the truth is going to be perceived.
@AssExtinction use your brain no country can stop the genocide because that like trying to stop two brothers fighting each other, they will just fight again. The genocide in rwanda is not the fault of the hutu because the tutsi extremist provoked the hutu into mass killing. People need to wake the fuck up africa need to have it wars so africa can learn from it. Rwanda has not even learnt it lesson because now the tutsi are the overall majortiy in power which will again lead to war.
@ghanabanana If you'd be a ruler or an emperor, president... You would be a sick dictator!
You need to wake up ... People are being killed, raped, tortured... O yeah and they are being learned that there ruler (A sick dictator) is a GOD!

Thats why europe, USA and countrys like that SHOULD HELP people that cant protect them self's!
@AssExtinction you got a childish mentallity. The majority of rwanding are more educated than most americans put together because of their inviroment. @ghanabanana No offense but who ever said that americans are smart....?
Still you made most of the point here (Well Said!). But people were being killed and who ever belives that, that is something that is natural and so they will learn from that? Sorry but that is sick. People should help each-other.... But noooo were greedy Bastards.
O yeah and if you havent been travelling before to africa(Middle and south), asia, or south america. Well you'll have to see it first and you WILL understand!
@AssExtinction exzactly we should help eachother but the problem is humans like all animals are born into competition and that the main reason why we are here. America's giving him the Medal of Honor...but where were they during this tumultuous time? Have we no honor? Bill Clinton should be ashamed of himself! I actually got the pleasure of meeting him two days ago and he doesn't think of himself as a hero. He sees himself as a man who did what he had to do. That's admirable. His wife is also a very strong woman to stay by her husband throughout this time. Many probably left, because they had no faith in their man. She had faith. They should be proud!!

Only cause America attacks expansionists, people who want to grow their nation is what America attacks, Hutus didn't think of that, if they did, then yeah, America would come indeed, cause then hutus will be like "Oh we want Greater hutuland" and 1 million tutsis saved, but WAIT! America is already planning a mass genocide to removed 90% of the worlds population!!!!! so what would've been better, Hutuland and 1 million tutsis or Fema Camps with 90% of us Dead.
@BeamSurfer Let me make it clear for you: US is not Rwanda’s role model, and that’s why you see Rwanda adopted Asian economic models. Rwanda does not get assistance from US more than elsewhere, Rwanda does not have US advisors, Rwanda doesn’t even trust US when it comes to national security and defense. It’s a myth out there that Rwanda is a US child. Do you know that we owe and respect the Canadian General Romeo Dallaire more than any American politician? I mean any, if you know what I mean
So during the same year, they had Bosnian Muslims under attack by Serbs, so UN jumps in, and they don't do anything in Rwanda, Why, cause they were black! but Rwanda has tons and tons and tons and tons and tons and tons of more Muslims than Bosnia, you know why? Because they're Black
@BeamSurfer I'm Rwandan and Disagree with you to say that US did not intervene in Rwanda because we were Blacks? Not at all. US did not intervene in Rwanda because they were not paid. But in Bosnia, Americans were paid by Saudis, Kuwaitis and Emiratis. People need to understand what US is: Capitalism. They’re ready to kill Christians if Muslims can pay, and vice versa. Remember only to make a clear difference between US people and, US politicians. the latter being devil money hungry body
US WANTED TO KILL MUSLIMS IN BOSNIA AND SHIT ON SERBIA, Albania is US's puppy-dog , look at kosovo, its for the US to extinguish the serbian fire, the Serbian Fire sais "Oh i'm Serbian first, Human after" but it's if the fire is turned towards the US, US would care, soo all Tutsis and Moderate Hutus had to do is wave US Flags, and if HUTU's hate USA then, BAM ! 99% of 1 million Tutsis saved.....
@BeamSurfer People do involve US in Rwandan sad experience! US is not part of Rwandan calamity, but Catholic Church and some European countries are. US is so often mentioned in Rwandan story because of its mighty power that could have stopped genocide, and second reason is because the General who stopped the Rwandan genocide studied in Kansas, US. That is it. We Rwandans know who is who and how to deal with that. Once again, US is not the epicenter of Rwandan tragedy or even recovery
@kirundo1 also cause Serbia had expansionist ideas, where they wanted to re-unite Yugoslavia as greater Serbia, a second phase where an ethnic group would've been dominant, But i know, it's all ignorant and racist and such people in reality are stupid, but they are successful sometimes (but still stupid) and if stupid, many states in the world are founded unjustly... like Israel-Palestine etc. Think about alexander, it's like America hates other countries who compete with US

"America just watched and did nothing" wahh. Okay listen I'm American and I feel awful for what happened. However since when is it Americas job to intervene in every crisis? If we went to Rwanda then a war would break out. We help Haiti..south Korea... North Korea... Israel... And almost all of the middle east.. Is that not enough?
@nerdyturtle12321 ....... -__- are you dumb??? as of now, the US has relations with every country except North Korea, Cuba and Bhuton. we try to help everybody.. smh
The French should have done something, but cowards that they are, did nothing. USA should have done something. We are supposed to be humanitarians...where were we. God Bless Paul and all the victims of the genocide. Bless Rwanda/
I cried when i watched this in film and fiction class since i never knew how horrible something like that could happen. If you think about it when people came into America ... they wanted to wipe out all of the Native Americans cause they think they weren't human. I can't believe the US didn't do anything .. just sat there. Absolutely nothing
Hear twrenching. I watched the movie for the first time last week. I have been putting off watching it for 5 years because I knew it would consume me for months. I can't get this song out of my head (which is OK), and I feel like I do not deserve the freedom I have afterwatching this. I do not know why I get to have freedom in USA, and hug and kiss my children every night knowing I am safe, and another family was killed senslessly. I am sorry. I wish I can help besides donating money.
if you guys only knew what da hell you are talkin about!!!this man has nothing of a HERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!he took advantage of people to make money!!he only saved those who could pay, and as soon as they ran out of money he kicked them out and they got killed!!!!now before praising this evil man, learn OUR STORY somewhere else than hollywood!!!!
Don Cheadle made this beautiful movie and was snubbed at the oscars..of course..their not gonna give it to him..i was born in the us but my mother was a war refugee from the salvadorian civil war in the ealy 80s and she has watched the movie and it just brings back old memories..she told me that the rwanda genocide was worse then that..i am moved every time i see this movie and when i see "life is beautiful"..we do not value peoples lives and it makes me ashamed..we really are trash..
how pitifully ironic. bush has the gall to stand there and talk to this incredible man and even put a medal around his neck for doing what america should have. we couldn't help save the people in rwanda, but we could invade and bomb a country, killing hundreds of thousands of it's people....that's just sick.
honestly your'e putting to much pressure on america don't you know how much other countries there are.. not metioning the ones right by it!!
but hell i dont like our government or any other government why you might ask? type in ( illuminati ) the biggest war is about to happen and were in deep shit...
I watched Hotel Rwanda and was thinking "What a cool headed man" I mean the soldiers were calling his wife and kids cockroaches!! Not to mention friends and neighbors....
it's so stupid seeing bush with the incredible paul. bush is a bitch, hypocrit, and manipulator. at firts usa and anyone do nothing to help those people who died there. bush suck as the usa gov.
you didnt stop the war in bosnia! you just sold us the weapons and make money! russia sold weapons to serbs! you didnt nothing! for us that was war for freedom but for you that was buisness! some day you will see what meen fight for your country on your land, fight for your house, not in irak, bosni, rwanda, but in america! you will see!
americans didnt help them because they have bigger profit in bosnia! i am from bosnia! they sold guns to us and to serbs! they started war! sorry for my english!
I promise to god I will do all I can do help make sure our world is safe from this type of genocide. Genocide is preventable, it has stages... we must recognize them and prevent it before it's too late!
de united nations personnel that were over dere actually wanted to help de tutis nd some hutus who werent extremeists but dey had orders not to get involved in de fighting! thank de western world(mainly america, uk france who actuall supplied de hutu army) who didnt giv a fuk for those rwandan women nd children who met de machete blade!!
if their was oil in Rwanda, America would have been first in line to help, i feel sick, their are no words to decribe how i feel about this!!!!!!!!!!!! god bless all the rwandan geniside victoms!!!!!!!!!
You are an idiot. YOu America hating libs always seem to want the USA to intervene in situations that do not directly affect our interests, and ignore those that do. This appalling massacre was an outrage. But it was not caused by the USA. Why the UN do nothing except stand by? If you hate the USA so much, kindly leave.
american goverment ignored the hurricane katrina disaster and went in after a week. they cant even sort there own problems out so how they gonna sort out rwanda. when oil rich countries like iraq, kuwait, afghanistan and lebanon have serious problems they seem to get there quicker.=oil.
ank'io ..... ho recetemnte rivisto qsto film ed verramente uno dei + belli tocanti e film che abbia mai visto.. mi chieo xx don cheadle nn abbia avuto l'oscar x la sua intepretazione
YOur comments about America prove you are an idiot. You morons have no problem with America getting involved in areas where America's interests are not at stake, and accuse America of bing full of Nazi's when it gets involved where its interests are.
By the way, if America did militarily intervene, pukes like you would be out in front with the criticism.
Excatly America is all quick to get involved where they arent neeeded. but as soon and some serious shit goes down America is no fuckin where to be found....fuckin cowards...
but like the movie Hotal Rwanda said... the reason they didnt help is because they were black... they werent even niggers...they were africans.
i hate europe and i hate America for not helping and why whot god bless america they did nothing for those childrens look into there eyes and feel what they feel i know it and when i get into the army and if something like that happens i go down there with a reason i wont take orders i go down there alone i dont care i help even if it mean i have to die. end
its hard for the united states to get involved the african goverment didn't want any interference so its hard for them to help though this is a good tribute and all the lives lost those refugee's will get there's in the end
Respect MR. Paul Rusesabagina, we need more people like you. I like how you describe your self as an ordinary man. To many of us, you are an inspiration and a hero. I speak this as a citizen of Rwanda and a citizen of the world. We wish you long life and courage as you continue to speak out against genocide in Darfur and Congo
All this is really problematic. Because it's easy to say, that UN sucks because they didn't make something, but gives you the permition to be "policeman" in foreign country? Look at US in Iraq, everybody hates them now for that. For me, the most horrible thing is, that people can do those things to another people just because the are different. It's scary.
yeah... there was no oil in Africa like there was in Iraq though, was there? The UN can't legally get involved in a countries political agendas unless the act of genocide is comitted. They should have intervened here but sadly, didn't. It's probably their greatest regret.
paul with the hard lastname is a reall hero. And were was busch gaved him a meddle hwo sweat but i think he doesnt need 1 he did needed some troops when he saved those lives. RESPECT
george some thing, the leader of the militia ordered thousands of machetes from china for ten cents each and gave to the malitia to hack away the so called tutsi cockroaches
@yodleig talking about free will is how christians try to explain every bad thing that happens, there is no god, get over it. just because people have a "need" for god to exist doesn't make him real and just because the idea of a loving god sounds good, also doesn't make it real. the problem with things that "sound" good is that they are all man made and are prone to failure regardless of how good they sound. religion is man made, that's why it's so flawed.
@yodleig if god was perfect and was real, religion would be flawless, but that is not the case. the bible that is supposed to be the "word of god" is full of contradictions and the word of god (who is supposed to be perfect) cant be contradictory. you can say "man wrote down the word of god and men aren't perfect" well than why the hell should we read the bible in the first place then? I can go on, but what's the point, you have "faith"
@Maggot1981 The Christian religion,in my opinion,is perfect for me,it teaches us to love and care for each other. The Christian religion doesn't focus on God's existence, it focuses on spreading love and defeating violence and hatred.I choose to believe in God and in Christianity because it makes good people, and promotes love. You can go on pointing out all the horrors in the world we DO have free will and God does not intervene whether it is good or bad but he rewards or punishes us.
@strongman325 if it's more about love and caring for each other, you don't need a religion for that. I always try to tell people to live that way and feel no need to involve religion in any way. I point out the horrors because one horror has a much MUCH more devastating effect that one act of kindness. You saying god doesn't stop us from doing bad things, he just rewards and punishes us is ridiculous. What if I had a kid that decided to kill someone and I don't stop him, just punish him after?
This is why the world is in the state its in. Due to people like you, you are so ignorant. May God have mercy on your soul. Because you will reap what you sow.
Hotel Rwanda in my opinon sort of hollywoodised the whole genocide in Rwanda. Two good films to watch out for are Shooting Dogs and Sometimes in April.
UN Peacekeepers can't really do anything, right? Are they even issued weapons? I don't think they're allowed to act except to "maintain peace" and in self-defense.
We should really think for ourselves, what we are sending our peacekeepers in for and the possible tensions and stresses they face.(Dallarie had P.S.T.D after seeing the stuff too much and too soon) God bless the U.N peacekeeprs, i know they are not perfect, but they are the best we have..
The U.N did try to do something, but with the limited forces(less than 1000) they had,how could you expect them to do much?As Gen Romeo Dallarie was quoted in an interview,"once the belgians left,i concentrated my remaining forces into urban areas where i knew Tutsis were hiding".His actions are directly credited with saving the lifes of thousands of Rwandans.. What reeks from this wholesale genocide is that the Security council(US,GB) had voted to downgrade the force..More men=more lifes save
When i seen hotel rwanda i felt the need to cry somewhat.. but then again if we did invade it would be a cause not of our own, alot of damage was done there that we couldn't do even if we some what tried.
bush doesnt even deserve to stand next to paul rusesabinga, paul an ordinary man did way more then bush has ever done. Katrina victims experinced that first hand with george bush

I am very ashamed of my country during this time....how could they let this happen and pretend that it wasn't there...It is something hard and that we people of western cultures or even of 1st world countries can never understand the pain that these people went through
As am I. Most of the blame lies with three of the worlds richest nations; the USA, the United Kingdom and France. And that institution the Catholic Church.
I am very ashamed of my country during this time....how could they let this happen and pretend that it wasn't there...It is something hard and that we people of western cultures or even of 1st world countries can never understand the pain that these people went through
This man is a hero and he heserves every second of our thoughts. his family want throught m,onths of threpy. his son wouldn't speek for a whole month after that. his wifes brother was killed alogn wis his wife. this man is my hero.
u live happly in the country where there is no war,and what I know all americans do not study out side history, only bamerican history,so your ideas and your eyes are limited to americans problems, you have to know that Africa is rich in everything without africa western countries they will develop less, because countries of the African continent has all resources western countries need,so to get their hands onthose resources ,they have to promote rivality among politicians and giv
The church is one of the main culprits. They had the power to prevent this, hutus would of listened to the church, with Rwanda bieng one of the most religious countrys in Africa. There were even cases of clergymen helping the Hutus.
True in part. Defiantly western governments are, with particular mention the U.S.A, France, U.K and Belgium. The United Nations failed also, and shows the worthlessness of the security council. What 99.99% of the west is responsible for is the utter indifference they showed to the situation. They simply didn't care what was happening in this far away land of 'little value'.And obviously a minority of Rwandans are also responsible. Draw hope from the actions of people like Paul Rusesabagina.
Missed by a mile, completely wrong, how long will u believe the false, By 1994 in Rwanda there was no 1 000 000 Tustis. How were a million Tustis killed then. where did they come from?

Respect MR. Paul Rusesabagina, we need more people like you. I like how you describe your self as an ordinary man. To many of us, you are an inspiration and a hero. I speak this as a citizen of Rwanda and a citizen of the world. We wish you long life and courage as you continue to speak out against genocide in Darfur and Congo
rwandankunda 3 years ago
All this is really problematic. Because it's easy to say, that UN sucks because they didn't make something, but gives you the permition to be "policeman" in foreign country? Look at US in Iraq, everybody hates them now for that. For me, the most horrible thing is, that people can do those things to another people just because the are different. It's scary.
Bivojjames 3 years ago
Wow what an insightful comment. People criticise too easily. At the moment in Congo things are going terribly, let's not look away this time.
diamondgirl9 3 years ago
yeah... there was no oil in Africa like there was in Iraq though, was there? The UN can't legally get involved in a countries political agendas unless the act of genocide is comitted. They should have intervened here but sadly, didn't. It's probably their greatest regret.
avatarz901 3 years ago 2

yodleig 1 year ago
@yodleig because if god exists and he lets things like this happen, than he's useless
Maggot1981 1 year ago
@Maggot1981 Have you heard of ree will, God gave us free will... You should freshen up your Christendom knowledge :-) God bless you and good luck :-)
yodleig 1 year ago
@yodleig talking about free will is how christians try to explain every bad thing that happens, there is no god, get over it. just because people have a "need" for god to exist doesn't make him real and just because the idea of a loving god sounds good, also doesn't make it real. the problem with things that "sound" good is that they are all man made and are prone to failure regardless of how good they sound. religion is man made, that's why it's so flawed.
Maggot1981 1 year ago
@yodleig if god was perfect and was real, religion would be flawless, but that is not the case. the bible that is supposed to be the "word of god" is full of contradictions and the word of god (who is supposed to be perfect) cant be contradictory. you can say "man wrote down the word of god and men aren't perfect" well than why the hell should we read the bible in the first place then? I can go on, but what's the point, you have "faith"
Maggot1981 1 year ago
@Maggot1981 The Christian religion,in my opinion,is perfect for me,it teaches us to love and care for each other. The Christian religion doesn't focus on God's existence, it focuses on spreading love and defeating violence and hatred.I choose to believe in God and in Christianity because it makes good people, and promotes love. You can go on pointing out all the horrors in the world we DO have free will and God does not intervene whether it is good or bad but he rewards or punishes us.
strongman325 1 year ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@strongman325 if it's more about love and caring for each other, you don't need a religion for that.

UN Peacekeepers can't really do anything, right? Are they even issued weapons? I don't think they're allowed to act except to "maintain peace" and in self-defense.
Violinstef 3 years ago
We should really think for ourselves, what we are sending our peacekeepers in for and the possible tensions and stresses they face.(Dallarie had P.S.T.D after seeing the stuff too much and too soon) God bless the U.N peacekeeprs, i know they are not perfect, but they are the best we have..
NotesCollector 3 years ago
The U.N did try to do something, but with the limited forces(less than 1000) they had,how could you expect them to do much?As Gen Romeo Dallarie was quoted in an interview,"once the belgians left,i concentrated my remaining forces into urban areas where i knew Tutsis were hiding".His actions are directly credited with saving the lifes of thousands of Rwandans.. What reeks from this wholesale genocide is that the Security council(US,GB) had voted to downgrade the force..More men=more lifes save

And I wonder where the Church was? (Tutsis and Hutus are Catholics)
errrzarrr 3 years ago
The church is one of the main culprits. They had the power to prevent this, hutus would of listened to the church, with Rwanda bieng one of the most religious countrys in Africa. There were even cases of clergymen helping the Hutus.
davidjames789 3 years ago
there you have it, the church looking to other side and arms crossed.
errrzarrr 3 years ago
The church alone is not responsible for what happened in Rwanda, All people of the west are.
mattiej1234 3 years ago
True in part. Defiantly western governments are, with particular mention the U.S.A, France, U.K and Belgium. The United Nations failed also, and shows the worthlessness of the security council. What 99.99% of the west is responsible for is the utter indifference they showed to the situation. They simply didn't care what was happening in this far away land of 'little value'.And obviously a minority of Rwandans are also responsible. Draw hope from the actions of people like Paul Rusesabagina.
