  • Happy 40th anniversary, Walt Disney World. :)

  • The Disney archives still has the original Mickey tht was used in this show from the recent pictures I saw of it looks like it's in perfect condition

  • @Sinatra12studios That is so good to know :)

  • @Sinatra12studios I saw it at D23 Expo!

  • Yeah, this would be a cool one to bring back. XD I'm too young to have seen it before, but it looks awesome.

  • God how i miss old disney world and old disney rides, the new ones, and “refurbished” ones are just not magical to me. i am so mad, and heartbroken they got rid of the old rides and shows, why couldn't they just build new stuff elsewhere, like in another state!

  • @reverendloush I agree and they have done too much of that at Disneyland too. They still have the original Tiki Room at Disneyland though.

  • @LoreneFaith You know they're actually rebuilding the original Tiki Room at WDW.

  • @Costerguy1234556 The "Under New Management" show is terrible. I am glad to hear that the original show will be brought back to WDW.

  • @LoreneFaith Same. I still wonder who's the idiot who said it needed the Under New management show.

  • @LoreneFaith - It's back in all it's glory...they need to bring much more back....I hate the new stuff.

  • @LoreneFaith that is good to know at least!

  • Why isn't Tigger in the orchestra? I mean, they had Pooh, Piglet, and Rabbit, but no Tigger?

  • @michaelsar12: Tigger didn't appear until Blustery Day. That's why.

  • @TherealRNO, But Tigger appeared in the preshow. :)

  • @TheMrRamonlle: Possibly because this was done with Blustery Day first aired, so Tigger was added, but much like the original Pooh theme that didn't have Tigger in it until the 2011 film, Tigger was regulated to simple background status.

  • has anyone noticed the harmonica playing dwarf's left eyelid is spazzing out a little when it closes? this is good quality for 1971 btw

  • Love this video can't believe how realistic snow white looked and this was 1971 amazing :)

  • this is so cool I wish I was born during that time peroid so I could've saw that I was born in the mid 1990's

  • this was definitely before my time, but i love being able to get some classic WDW!

  • So Mickey's Philharmagic is pretty much a completely updated version of this show, given that it features all the biggest of Disney's animated movies since this first came out (the 1970's-today) and of course, the CGI

  • @ishyk10 And this was not CGI which makes it so much better

  • @LoreneFaith, You're Right! Because The Mickey Mouse Revue is So Much Better to Put in My Own Disneyland Outside of California.

  • @ishyk10 acctually after this attraction it was The Legend of The Lion King then Mickey's Philharmagic.

  • @ishyk10, Mickey's PhilharMagic is Fine, But The Mickey Mouse Revue is More Delightful Animatronic Show That I Never Get the Chance to See at Tokyo Disneyland When It was Closed! I Just Want at Disneyland in California or Paris or Put It at Shanghai Disneyland!

  • @TheAngryPepe Maybe it could be in Disney Cruise Line.

  • @TheMrRamonlle, I Don't Think! Cuz Disneyland's Fantasyland Needs The Mickey Mouse Revue and I Need Back It Cuz I Never Saw It!

  • The little fawn near Snow White looks somewhat like Bambi. Also, did you know that the molds to create the Seven Dwarfs here were also used to create the Dwarfs in the post-1994 WDW Snow White ride?

  • @disneyfan85 I think they made all new ones for the snow white ride Are you speaking of Snow Whites Scary Adventures?

  • @emilyosmentrokz Yes, I'm speaking of Snow White's Scary Adventures. And molds don't necessarily mean they used the same figures themselves, although I read that they did use some of the Alice characters from the show in the new Alice ride at Disneyland (when it opened in 1984).

  • The little fawn near Snow White looks somewhat like Bambi. Also, did you know that the molds to create the Seven Dwarfs here were also used to create the Dwarfs in the post-1994 WDW Snow White ride?

  • fuck them for getting rid of it, even in tokyo!

  • Thanks for the memories! I saw this the first time in Oct 1972!

  • @sommerTN Glad to bring some good memories back :)

  • do they really have that @ Disney World ?

  • @BUNNYBUTT1984 They did before they moved it to Tokyo Disneyland for it's opening. Now it's being replaced, I believe by Mickey's Philharmagic

  • Just wish someone had the WHOLE ORIGINAL from WDW as well as the original Disney Story show from Mainstreet

  • I love how the audience claps when the curtain goes up....

    A simpler time, I suppose....

I remember this show, I just don't remember it looking so primitive...

  • It is rumored that this will move to Hong Kong Disneyland as a piece of the resort expansion.

  • Such a fun show! I think they could have gotten a better voice for the Fairy Godmother, though.

  • @BlueParatroopa YEAH! and Snow whites voice sounds NOTHING like the charachter!

  • Yeah...it doesn't sound old enough...an older woman can't have a really young voice.

  • It was a real treat to see this last year at Tokyo Disneyland. I wonder what Disney will do with it now that it's closed.

  • Hopefully it will come to Disneyland for a while. I don't know if it has ever been there. Or maybe it will go to Paris Disney.

  • @acairo10 , I Want This Attraction at California's Disneyland Where Pinocchio Ride and Restaurant is in Fantasyland!

  • philharmagic is better

  • @SuppScott that is coimng to tokyo disneyland in 2011 cant wait

  • This is amazing, I had the album when I was little, I wish I could see it in person.

We need more beauty like this in the world.

    A

    x

  • I guess that is why Disneyland and Disney World are the happiest places on earth. They still have beauty and magic.

  • sorry to say it no longer exists. the show moved from Florida to Tokyo in the early 80's (w/ the majority dubbed in Japanese) however it closed earlier to make way for the same show that replaced it in Florida (Mickey's Philharmagic)

  • Disneyland better not take out Pinnochio's Daring Journey for THIS.

  • This is definately the kind of stuff Disney should really preserve. If there is any way they can bring this back to America, that would be wonderful.

  • I didnt realise they could make robots like this in 1971 :O?

  • same here. not bad for '71 though. it's amazing how much Disney's capabilities have expanded since then.

  • Oh sure. The technology to make animated figures move in preprogrammed motions like these has been around since ancient Greece. Much more impressive than this attraction from a technical standpoint is the Country Bear Jamboree, whose figures display a far greater range of articulation and complexity.

  • @BellyWigg they have had the audio animatronic technology that is this good since 1964

  • If this is coming back, will they use the robots in here & the old audio track? Because the characters don't sound/look like them. Right?

  • 38 Years Ago Today The Magic Kingdom

Park & Walt Disney World Opened In Florida!

  • This opened in 1971 in Magic Kingdom and was where Mickey's Philomagic is now...they clsoed it and had it storage moved it to Tokoyo Disney and now its set to close there for good soon.

  • Comment removed

  • This was the year when the park opened in Florida!

  • These puppets scare me

  • I agree...they look scary for some reason. I think its because they have that look on the face that they are "thinking" about something, but all it is is the face how its made because of the anamatronics back then (AA's)

  • @Burtonnut, That was a long time ago. But I think the characters will change to their newer versions in the MMR at Disneyland California.

  • The atttaction is coming back in the USA for good but it will be in Disneyland.

  • Wow, that is great news! Do you have any idea when?

  • 2009

  • Thats great, thanks for letting me know. That gives me another reason to make another trip to Disneyland.

Do you know when the renovated California Adventure Park will be finished?

Is it true that they will have "The Little Mermaid" ride?

  • YES! they are building it right now in california and are planning one for disney world. IM SOO EXCITED!!!

  • @SxyChicDisney they are? where did you get this information? I highly doubt it...it came from Walt Disney World before moving to Tokyo.

  • hmm...i dont know why i wrote that on this video... i might have been talking about the new little mermaid ride. that confuses me i dont even remember posting that comment haha

  • Just like every other closed down WDW ride would usually go.

  • How do you know?

  • I'm with disneynut06, where did you hear about this.

  • Wiki ;-)

  • I'm pretty sure that's not true... I think it's gone for good.

  • The character's voices are REALLY different, besides Mickey's.

  • no, mmtube08, this is like a Disney classic attraction

  • boring--this needs replaced for good

  • 2:00 is too cute, even the coldest hearted person in the world cant deny that! haha

Boy am i glad they did not base the AA Brer Fox in Splash Mountain off the one in this show.

  • you mean those bunnies its not super cute ive seen cuter i mean look at my little brother

  • DOUBT IT.

  • hey i think his pic is one of my friends so xclick on my account and you will see

  • I heard that they're finally shutting this down and taking it out of Disneyland Tokyo by May of this year (2009). :(

  • Hopefully they will take it to one of the other Disney parks.

  • Hopefully, they will bring it back to Walt Disney World Florida. And maybe if they don't want it in the Magic Kingdom they could bring it to Epcot, MGM, or the Animal Kingdom

Excuse me I mean Hollywood Studios

  • Do you know what they will do to it?

  • I never knew this even exsisted..course im only 24 and my early years in disney were a blur..how long was this in disneyworld

  • According to Wikipedia, this attraction closed in 1980.

  • My favorite attraction of all time. I miss this the most. The only part that's missing is when Cinderella and the princes shadows are dancing on the curtain.

  • did i win my trip yet

  • Is it just me or do I hear this? A brief tune of "Tale As Old As Time" from Beauty and the Beast plays in the black transition part of this video. (Unless that was put in by the Disney Channel?) If it was actually from the show itself, well...that's kind of interesting since that tune doesn't show up again until 1991.

Thanks for the vid! ^_^ I never saw this before, but I read about it.

  • No, you're not the only one! You hear it about 2:10, right? Just before the Cinderella segment? I also felt that it sounded like the first bar of the song, the "tale as old as time" part. I don't know if it was put in by the Disney Channel when they aired this, the only other full-length video of the attraction is in Japanese. I'm going to look and see if this tune is also in there. Or, maybe, the basic rhythm of the song existed long before and it was adapted for the film?

  • Sorry, it took me awhile to respond. Youtube nicked my account so I had to make another one. (Actually, my third.) It could possibly be a basic rhythm which was then later adapted. Alan Menken and Howard Ashman really paid close attention to this attraction if that was the case. O.o Who knows.. We need to ask an Imagineer! >D

  • It could very well be put in by Disney Channel, because a few comments up from this one, someone mentions that there was a part where Cinderella's and the prince's shadows were dancing on the curtain, and that's probably where the black transition was.

  • I remember seeing this when I was seven! My cousins and I sung along at the end! What a fun memory!

  • Much as I hate that this is gone... and miss it terribly... the building's current tenant is home to my husbands favorite attraction (Mickey's Phillharmagic) so it's worth it.

  • @BamaJen, Well, don't worry. I think the Mickey Mouse Revue will hopefully come to Disneyland California.

  • This is amazing! All the Disney characters together, it's like a survey of Disney films! This is classic, and if Walt Disney alluded to it as one poster stated, it should be maintained and preserved in some form. My suggestion? Bring it to Disney's California Adventure, and since it hits on many of Disney's great films, place it in the new Carthay Circle Theatre being constructed for DCA's renovation. Upgrade the audio-animatronics and it should be a hit, since it was never at Disneyland!

  • I agree! I would love to see it at CA Adventure. Do you know when the renovations will be done there? Is it true that they are going to have a mermaid lagoon and maybe even The Little Mermaid ride there? I sure hope so :)

  • Hi! The renovations are being done in phases, so certain parts of the park will be done before others. Generally, it looks like the entire expansion will be completed by 2012, with most of the major attractions in place by 2010. And yes, there will be a Little Mermaid Ride and Mermaid Lagoon set to open by Spring/Summer 2011. It's supposed to be a really great dark ride with audio-animatronics and everything! It should be exciting.

  • Wow thanks for the info! I am so glad to hear that there is going to be both the Mermaid Lagoon and the Little Mermaid ride. I will have to plan on going back to visit in 2011! Can't wait :)

  • Didnt this move to Tokyo Disneyland in 1980 ?

  • this is great. why did disney take it out.

  • That is a great question, kind of like, why did Disney take away all of their classic programs and not make them available on their cable channels for the millions of viewers who love them?

  • It's called catering to the younger generations.

  • @zoeydebra Yeah, when I heard that The Disney Channel was going to discontinue the "Vault Disney late-night block, the head of programming Anne Sweeney said it's because they "want to appeal to a younger audience".

That IMHO, is the most pitiful use of that excuse that I've ever heard! I mean, children like the Disney characters, cartoons, and theme parks for crying out loud!!

  • Simple. In the early 1980's, plans were being made for the construction of Tokyo Disneyland. People from that park came to WDW to scout attractions that would go to Tokyo. The Revue made the list, and instead of building a second Revue, they decided to do something cheaper: dismantle the attraction, and ship it. At least the show still plays, but its in Japanese.

  • Oh my god! That is incredible! The sight of ALL of those Disney animatronics in one sitting is spectacular! Thanks SO much for uploading!

  • It really is incredible! You are welcome :)

  • Fantastic footage, I remember this attraction well. There was also some Huey Dewey and Lewys songs. When Captain Eo bang playing at Imagination the theater that once held, "The Mickey Mouse Revue" began showing, "Magic Journeys." This was about the same time Disney World stop requiring tickets for individual attractions.

  • where in the magic kingdom was this ride

  • It was in the location that Philharmagic occupies now.

Lion King and Magic Journeys also played in that spot.

  • Its kind of cool that after years or various shows coming and going from this theater, they finally put in a 3D show that kind of goes down the same path that this one did. At least with the symphony conductor Micky shtick. Amazing to see a clip of this thing, thanks for posting it!

  • I have never seen this.

    But, wow.

They should've never taken this out of WDW.

  • Wow thank you for putting this up :3 I was just in Tokyo Disney and had seen this show so it's shocking to learn that it first premiered in Walt Disney world.

  • I wish someone would post a video of the full original show in Disney World, that would be truly amazing. But that can't happen, ince the only home video cameras available in the 1970s were super8 films, which only shot audio-less 3 minute shorts (well, at least that is what i heard)

  • I don't remember it being at Disneyland so I guess it was just at Disney World. It is adorable.

  • The Mickey Mouse Revue was never at Disneyland. It was a WDW original.

The show left WDW in 1980 to be shipped to Tokyo Disneyland, where it still plays to this day.

  • Oh my gosh. I had almost forgotten that this attraction existed. I saw it when I was at WDW in '79 (I was 5). This brought back a TON of memories. Thanks for posting! :) (BTW, which TV special is this from?)

  • This is from one of the programs featured on "Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color" that used to be on Sunday nights. It was a program of the Grand Opening of Walt Disney World.

  • omg!! i never had the chance to see this show...but from what i saw i wish it would have stayed.

  • Me too. I wish I could have seen it.

  • omg tht is so cute

  • I remember this like it was yesterday! I only wish that the whole show were here so I could watch The Three Caballeros steal the show! At present, the only video of them on YouTube is the Japanese version.

  • Man I miss this show. It was awesome!

  • I assume that this is where Philhar(sp?) Magic is now?

  • i'm sure back in 1971 that was pretty state of the art.

it's nice to see some of the old stuff again.

  • The old stuff is still unbeatable in my opinion. It just seems to magical.

  • Yehey! Mickey Mouse! Yay!

  • That show kicked ass!

  • cool!

  • Wow! That was amazing for its time. The animatronics looked great, even the human characters were animatronics!
